  1. [hide] It's idiocy to assume that if you send them more money then the game will improve. They allocate the money you send them as they see fit not as you want it. You simply pay for the terms of service. If anything, they have done a great job of pissing it away on failed games, games that never come out, idiotic marketing, and bloated staff in cushy offices making music videos and partying all day. They've also reinvested more money than they made in profits to double the size of the Runescape team to allow them to bring high quality content more frequently (eg the much higher quality on quests) To be honest, I think thats bull. I've seen worse content in the last year than ever. I think its just Jagex trying to make a good image for them selves. What would you list as some of the worst content ever? Over the whole year, it lacked ALOT of quests, Most of them were so small. And Most again were reworks. Theres way to much focus on reworking (and sometimes downgrading). EoC was the biggest flop in Runescape. Not because the combat. Im not really into it. But I can say its not the worst. An update such as EoC did alot of damage to Runescape. What im angry about is Mod Mark was so ignorant in proving himself that he took ALOT if not most of the game content down with him. Dead minigames, quest rewards, useless weapons and armours. The list goes on. Not the combat its self I think thats a fair point to you EoC. One update to kill alot of updates? Bad spending, Bad leadership, Outragously bad development. Im not you love jagex and your EoC. But if you fail to see the damage it caused then just wow. [/hide] Double post much? Also, I think a lot of "bad" update you get is subjunctive. EoC isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It could be better but it did fix the combat triangle and add some variety to PvM. I don't feel as restrictive when I go boss hunting thou 2h weapon over power 1h and dual weilding. The reworked quest were reworked because they were outdated. Big Chincompa, God-Statues, Sinkholes, and Player Owned Ports aren't really dead D&D in my opinion. We don't fail to see anything. We have different opinions.
  2. I've asked to go to Nex, but I'm on the fence about it. In general, how difficult is Nex these days. At what stats could one do Nex in a group. Could you say, get away with barrows gear?
  3. Around 13:00 I think. For reference: 14k votes at 14:00 27k at 15:00 Almost double the numbers in 1 hour. I think I have to agree with Sy. They will en mass vote very quickly and I'm very positive they'll even reach 250k, but it will get very slow and almost painful once they break 200k because of the early voting. Then again it was mentioned RS has 1.3m active users. how many of those are semi-retired not becuase of EoC but because of life? Can't wait to see the results.
  4. I can be way off base, but did you ever notice that the ability "Two shot" is the really the carbon copy of the old magic bow/darkbow specials. and did you also notice Havoc is the same as the rune/dragon claw special? Did you also miss that the godswords have passive ability the same as their old specials? Also, the "rock-papaer-scissor" style gameplay you refer to is a combat triangle, the one this game was SUPPOSE to have in the beginning, but was seriously broken and turned into "Chaoticrapierscape" in recent times. Yes black d'hide = dragon. Because black d'hide is the armor "dragon" for RANGERS. Also to one of your earlier comments. We aren't scared. e just don't care for it/want it. Just like you don't want EoC. And that's the point we are trying to get at. You didn't want EoC so you got them to do this. We don't want 2007scape, so we won't vote.
  5. I think it's a bit unfair to say those who disagree with you aren't real Scapers and that EoC isn't Runescape...it's the same game, owned by the same company. 2006scape, however, was not, and was infringing on copy right Jagex until now was too lazy to deal with. Sir, we are just as real of a scaper a you. otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  6. [hide] Correction: He's using a two data points within a month of each other to imply causation with an event that happened 48 months ago. To say it's an intellectual scandal to pass those statistics off with that strong of a conclusion would be a massive understatement. You are my hero. <3 So I guess every update that happened after 2007 does not count as gameplay. Those 65 quest, 4+ new bosses, 2 new skills don't mean much. In my opinion, yes. Jagex very much changed their outlook on Runescape around the year 2007. At that time Runescape became less of the player's game and more of the company's game. Quests were dull, unexciting, bland. Most of the bosses are just Jagex trying to outdo their old bosses. Notice how Jagex are terrified of releasing a new boss that doesn't topple the old bosses? That's the kind of mindset that destroyed the game. Sure, there were some great updates, but 98% of the gameplay updates from 2007-present are really, truly... just ... plain... bad. They lost their touch. They lost their game. I'm not going to sit here and try to cherry pick the good things in 2013 Runescape, because that's dishonest. 2013 Runescape is overwhelmingly bad. 2013 Runescape is being updated by a company that favors censorship, despises criticism, and generally shits on its player base (arguably even more than Blizzard!). I don't know, it feels like Runescape is like a Micheal Bay movie. The advertisements for the movie will tell you its unique, it's great, it's heroic, it's patriotic, it's the best movie of the year. And people fall for it because that message is drilled into their head. But then you watch the movie and see how terrible it is. On the outside, it's really great looking, nice and shiny- the action scenes are great. But when you examine the underlying themes, plot, etc. of the movie you see that the movie is nothing but a gold-plated turd. People only see the gold plating, but if you really examine Runescape for what it is today, it is just another carbon copy of every other MMO ever made. It's crap. It's unoriginal. Everything in the game is so goddam boring. Remember back in 2006 when we had the Falador massacre and everybody went nuts? That's the kind of feeling that you don't get with 2013 Runescape. Jagex are terrified of making a mistake, and that mentality has cost them their game. I feel like Jagex is some over protective parent wrapping everything in bubble wrap. Legos? You could stub your toe! Bubble wrap. Toy sword? You could stab yourself! Bubble wrap. Math homework? Your poor little brain will get fried! Bubble wrap. Friends? Friends will make you do drugs! Bubble wrap. Shoes? You might trip over your shoelaces! Bubble wrap. Don't worry honey, daddy Jagex will take care of you. [/hide] Well, to each his own. But I really think saying 98% of the updates to Runescape is really overreaching when you've been inactive for more than 3 years. It takes more than 1 day to come back and actually get a feel for what has changed. No, not every update from 2007 until now was good, but to have a dislike 98% of the update means you really should just drop the game. At the point that you feel nothing they produce is any good then it's perhaps your taste that have changed. That is why I don't suppose 2007 Runescape. It was here, it went, and the game changed but I still enjoyed it even with the changes. Yet things could have went better, but I do enjoy the new skills and a group of other updates. Yet, I don't expect to play forever, and while bringing 2007 back will bring in those old players and those who quit because of EoC, it won't allow them to experience anything new that comes from leaving Runescape. You say Jagex is too scared to make a mistake or try something new, they did. That was EoC. They attempted to fix a broken combat system and complete with other companies in their industry. This is the result. We are having this conversation. No one wants to admit it but some players did return shortly after EoC. We went from 120k players online at a time to 60k when EoC came to 80 - 90k players. Either some of them returned, or some of them are new. The game didn't suffer as bad as people thought. They're were cries that RS would fall in months but while players who quit waited to see it happen. I think RS would have recovered, and it did. But instead of going forward Jagex decided to do this. This, bringing back 2007, is an example of an overprotected parent. This is them showing they are afraid of moving forward and leave this game grow up. Nonetheless, if a 2007 RS is want players want, so be it. All who want it will vote yes on the petition. Me not voting is not out of spite. It's like politics, it's a policy I don't agree with so I don't feel the need to vote. I have no problem if others want it, because really don't have to play it and this is less serious than politics. But let them voice their yes, and I will voice my no. The future is yet to be seen and I'll be waiting to see it come to pass.
  7. Gingy, you know I love you but even I have to point what you are doing is data mining. That isn't good at all and should be taken with a grain of salt.
  8. True. And once they DO come back and yall realize where all the fun is at.... I'll leave it at that. If this whole thing becomes a sucess, more than haf of the users online will be on the 2007 servers. Enjoy your empty worlds. This ^ Seriously ... lol, everyone on this board is so negative "i don't want bla bla bla" ... i can't wait to get to 250k. I will gladly pay $5 extrah löl. $15 extra. You only pay $5 more if you hit 500k.
  9. No they won't. only currently paying members. EDIT: Aww, he beat me. :P
  10. Question: Will anyone but willing to write a little guide on crew types, upgrades, captains one should seek, etc. in each region. A lot of information was planted here, and I'd think it'd be good to compile it for future reference to, I dunno, being a good port master, and making the most use of Player Owned Ports.
  11. Correction: He's using a two data points within a month of each other to imply causation with an event that happened 48 months ago. To say it's an intellectual scandal to pass those statistics off with that strong of a conclusion would be a massive understatement. 12. Why should I vote if I am not going to play the 2007 version of the game? That is just giving false information to Jagex. They will eventually close the servers because it costs too much to run them with so few people playing on them. To support the overall community in getting some fun back out of RuneScape. Which has the potential to increase a better development fund for live RS. If population dies down, so does the development fund for 07.. If anything you only gain. AS long as they are smart about it. Any of this will only happen if their Marginal Benefit of doing this is greater than or equal to the Marginal Cost of doing this. I venture this is why it will cost $15 at 50K votes. However, as you mentioned earlier they'll hire more staff to work on this. Each staff is only worth hiring if MB>MC. Once they hit MB=MC they won't hire anymore, and while they tell us this think will cost $15 with a low amount of voting for it, we really don't know what this will cost. So more income for Jagex is really isn't right to say, firms in a market function at MB=MC. "No delay in live". There is plenty of delays in live now. "Nothing taken from live." Someone posted how this works out but I'll say it again. It is the opportunity cost. The time given to supporting 2007scape even with more labor means less that can be done for current RS. But like Sir Squab said, this is just to see who'd want to play. Still a no for me.
  13. I want that collection too. No they won't, because there won't be anyone to sell to. But on a serious note, I'm really not bothered about this either way. Rest assured, these servers *are* going to return because there is an audience for it. I won't be voting though, and outside of nostalgia there is absolutely no reason why I would ever want to play such a backwater, outdated game again. As much as tutorial island has my heart, a big fat NO. The resource for the live game will be pulled to suppport an ugly ass older version, and that's a huge opportunity cost. And already we have people going "Why not 2009!" They were alweays there before, but now they are getting just as loud as the 2006scapers were before EOC. What is wrong with people just leaving a game? It's okay to not like a game anymore and grow up. We can't stay in 2007 forever. We shouldn't want to. Not in this game nor in real life. At least Jagex is charging $15 for you to play. All those who said you wanted it and will be willing to pay such a cost, there ya go. Let's see how long it takes for them to complain about the price...
  14. You can do this, since combat stance = degrade. In this whole debate there are two sides. One say way can't Jagex just let T85 be better than T80. On the other side, they say, why should it be when T80 is harder to get. I really think there is one easy solution to this, and to keep PoP from the dead content bin. To get Nex armor you have to go through a long series or preparation that takes you near end game. 1) You need the combat stats to fight her in a group of 4 players. 2) You need the related combat skills to boost your performance. (95 prayer, 96 herblore, etc if anymore) 3) You need the resources to preform at Nex with reasonable expectations. 4) You need to put in continuous resources and time until you recieve to items for which you are hunting for (or the money to buy them) 5) Once you have what you want (say full Virtus), you need have a method for repairing the this items for continuous use. Port is like Nex ALMOST. The port armor requires 90 in an access skill and in most cases 90 in a related skill (say to make Tetsu). The resource you need are the scrolls and trade goods. Those take time to get. And like Nex gear, you need money to repair it. But once you get the armor that's it. No need to visit PoP again if that's all you want. Simple fix, make it so that trade goods repair the armor, not money. Fix it so it degrades like Nex make it so that trade goods go into repairs, not nearly as much to make it, but enough to warrant players to stay in ports. If this has already been sad, forgive me, 162 pages is a lot of reading. :D EDIT: As Kaida said, ask and ye shall receive.
  15. What he said. I'm not much of a PvP'er these days - but the risk element is there for a reason. The trouble is in the old days people who WANTED risk would go to the wildy, people who did not would steer clear; even when a few odd skill bits were dumped in the majority had a sense of honour which meant un-armed skillers were left alone whilst the fighting was focussed on other pkers. Now pking is all but dead and those there are take pleasure in attacking un-armed skillers who pose no challenge or threat to them simply to annoy them. I agree wildy should be dangerous, but it should not be an artificial danger created by forcing unarmed skillers in there for honourless trolls to slaughter; it should be by finding ways to actually get pking going again. The joy and honor of pking came from defeating an opponent who equally matched you in guts and risk. Killing un-armed skillers who mined rune rocks was only done by the desperate who were not strong enough to defeat even rune clad warriors, and made you as the killer look weak. There were gains from killing a skiller but was generally not worth it (5 rune rocks if that vs. all but the 3/4 best items as warrior had) other than to make you feel good when all you are is an ass. The wild should be dangerous and skillers should beware of danger but the pride and rewards from pking with honor is dead. Thus, content for skillers out the is almost dead. If a skiller goes out there, he/she should be killed by the desperate, not by the strong who can hold their own against the better.
  16. I dunno. For now I'm just keeping it for fun. I'll try not to sell anything until 99 slayer, but I don't see myself getting 99 in any skill. 90 herblore was hard and I didn't pay attention to 90 range because I got it through summoning. And I was using free exp for these (hati gloves, dec aura). Maybe I will go for 99 slayer. For now it still has some freshness to it. I'll have to see how I feel in a month of tracking.
  17. Yay 2m! [hide][/hide] Last week I've decided to start a slayer loot tab. Normally I ignore drop unless they look good, then I usually sell them off and somehow blow the money off. So instead, I've started a loot tab. Lots of players have these and their tab is crazy wealth. So people claim "Oh, a lot of those items would have been worth so much more if you sold them when...", but really, it fun to collect and see just how much you can get in a number of task. So I started a google doc spreadsheet (got to complex in excel and I cba) off the drops I pick up. A lot of it is really monster dependent. I don't pick Adamant chainbodies from Waterfiends, but the metal dragons don't drop much outside bar of their type, so I cart of the Adamant swords and such. Oh and I got this on a slayer task. [hide][/hide] I missed 90 hp on another task, and if you noticed, I got me a new toy (Royal xbow) In other news I finished my first PoP scroll and have moved on to the second. I've decided to go for a melee on despite not having the smithing level and not getting a plate mission ever. I'll be getting fishing to 85 and fletching as soon as I finish dungeoneering, which it I actually dung, will be today. I started with the body and already got 1 piece. And I'm 8/10 bones from scrimshaw supply ready. [hide] [/hide] EDIT: I have all the bones I need for 1 scrimshaw now. :D [hide][/hide]
  18. With super antifires, for steel/iron dragons, you don't need healing if you keep distance. Not sure about Mithril dragons.
  19. Nice mining levels. keep it up. Thou it looks like you are power mining iron. Do you have a lot of money for smithing as well?
  20. Yeah you've hit the nail on the head there. Yep, they did. So to provide some perspective on this I have the task of slayer task of Kalphites. I am a level 176 from 85 defense and 89 range ans I have 89 hp. I wear full body Karil, snakeskin booties, barrows glove (Hati gloves really so I can get extra expees for 90), Ava's accumulator, Archer's ring (may switch up to ROW), and amulet of ranging. I use a crystal bow and bunyip. Like Tansuo said, the bunyip is all you need. I use momentum (I like less click intensive slayer) and found that spawn rates are spot on. I can get away with killing on and having another spawn. Thou if I happen to kill them quick enough then I usually wait 1 or 2 seconds. I'll report back once I actually finish my task. EDIT: Finished my slayer task. I never actually killed them all fast enough to be stuck waiting for a spawn. But the most did have out at any given moment was 2. I got to a point where would get down to killing all three, and 1 or 2 hits before the last one would die, another spawned. As for charm rates, what you have is just about right. I didn't bother to pick up gold or green, and I did my task rather slow, but I left with out with the same amount of blue/crimson charms. The Kalphite; however, love dropping herbs. They are usually dropped in pairs of two, the most frequent being Grimy Kwuarm; herbs are dropped a lot more than charms. Once in while they drop sharks, which is good if you happen to need food at the moment.
  21. [hide] [/hide] And today Feb 4 is my birthday. I'm 22. That is all.
  22. I really need an internship. Anywho, more port updates. [hide] [/hide] I also got 81 fletching. Gotta go get that last thieving level I want, then 70 dungeoneering. Until next time.
  23. As soon as you left, we got another drop. I left around 8pm and ended up with 1.8m in splits. Now I have 1.8m in cash. :P As always. thanks.
