While nothing is real life happened, no much in RS went down. Got a regular voyage with 1 ancient bone. So I took it. And... [hide][/hide] In the words of MJ, who's bad?! but hey, some of us from HYT Chat found something funny. [hide] [/hide] And we didn't suffer desert effects while on water. Eventually a penguin came by. Me and Goon tired to herb it and after a few minutes (and Goon quitting), I finally got it on water. [hide][/hide] Just enough time to screenie it. Until next time.

2013 New Year Resolutions
Not really a resolution, but something I need to work on. A healthier life style and a more social one. So it's time to me to start exercising and doing better in my eating habits and attending more events. I also wanna finish up all those video games I left undone.

Textbooks
I bought a loose left Spanish text with online access code for $200, a Game Theory textbook for $40 and one for my Japaneses culture class for $35. I was forced to go to the campus bookstore for Spanish and I didn't really care to Amazon my last book. I'm not bummed out about Game Theory because I'll like keep that book for a reference (I keep my Calculus, African History, and AutoCAD books for the same reason. I don't even need AutoCAD since I'm not longer in the major but I still have the software.) Now $200 is a lot I did not wanna part with but I kinda didn't mind this time. Last semester was the first semester the school had been on a semester system. So they changed our dining plan. A lot of students (including me) got dining plans that way overestimated how much we need, since it appeared we'd be using 2 or more blocks (as they are called) to pay for a meal. So they refunded us $3 for every block we had left. I got some $600 back. However, it was placed on out student IDs meaning we are restricted to using that money on campus. I didn't expect a refund so after buying my Spanish book I blew off some $100 on stuff I don't even remember. :P I'm trying to use my reduced meal plan and save the money on my ID for my laundry and stuff. Hopefully I'll have something left over for my last semester.

Long time vet returning have some questions
Nex and Kalphite King are usually done in teams. In fact, they can only be done in teams. And usually higher level are desired. I also doubt you have the quest requirements for Glacors. As for QBD, while to quest requirement is easy, you may have to invest more into your combat skills, but not as much as the first two. Barrows could be another option for you if you want to do something pvm like. Otherwise, I'd do as many quest I can and slayer to work on combat. A higher slayer level would get you task that can get you a bit of money. However, if you have a bit of capital, one could try merchant-ing on the GE. Btw, go bucks!

Getting somewhere good in Ports/Career Fairs
So, last night I send a ship out for a scrimshaw scroll piece. I've had 4 or 5 missions including that one, 1 I tried a t 82% but failed. This time, using a bit of boost I got 90%. This morning before heading off to work I got some good news. [hide][/hide] Yeah man, you know what that means...onwards to 85 fletching. Current levels stand as such: [hide][/hide] In other news, a side from a Spanish test that was easier than I expected, today I went to a career fair. In my never ending quest to secure a future I put my pride and crappy GPA on the line. Yeah, I know my GPS is horribad, but considering how much work I did to bring it up, and my major GPA of nearly a 3.1, I thought I had a chance. I saw about 6 companies there who either encouraged all majors to apply or were looking for economics majors. Capital One went as expected so I intend to apply online with them. Chase/J.P Morgan shot me down quick due to my GPA but that's okay. I dislike them anyway. Northwestern Mutual, Huntington Bank and Enterprise Holdings seemed really relaxed so I'm glad I take to them. They took my info said I'd be contacted in a few days if I qualify, and encouraged me to apply online. I'm hoping Northwestern turns out good s they are in Chicago and are close to what I NOW KNOW what I want to do. Later today I went to my Undergraduate Economics Society meeting where they had two people working in the Baird regional private wealth management firm come by (President is their intern). And you know what...I was really happy I went. The guys who talked to use were really friendly and fed us a lot of important information. And they helped me distinguish a lot of the job out there in the investment industry. After the meeting I asked the older gentleman a few questions and he gave me a business card. Now more than ever, it is time to start networking. Chase shooting me down without any consideration hurt my confidence, but by talking with the rep from Northwestern Mutual, going to my UES meeting and learning that I wanted to be a private wealth manager, I've got some of my confidence back. I plan to learn a bit of networking (to refresh my memory of course) and keep in contact with this guy to try and get my foot in the door. And with a bit more confidence I feel more prepared for next week's career fair (unless chase is there :-|). Welp, until next time.

2013: What's Coming and What's Going
I knew I'd read some comment about Jagex not being sincere. Yes, they could have done a lot better in terms of stuff that happened. But this felt really sincere and honest. Yeah, it been about a year before they admitted to a lot of things: The purpose of SGS and SOF, the bot problem and RWT, promotions, and the clearly not ready EOC. But not all of it is bad. The new D&D were a success imo, and the revamps of the old quest were nice. The Kalphite King was a good addition to Runescape bosses and the Weekend Winter events/Aura was indeed a better way to promote. Not to mention port port port port ports! I would have liked for them to admit things sooner, but in the general world of business, Jagex saying sorry is rare. There are plenty of firms that take YEARS to admit to wrong doings even when some proof shows up. And some CEO's go to their grave carrying disbelief they've [bleeped] up. 2012 was filled with mixed emotions but for Jagex to come out with this open letter make me feel pretty optimistic.

The Kalphite king. What i have tried, and found to work.
Went to the kk mass, learned a lot, and surprisingly got the "going green" with provoke then resonances/barricade/immortality understood. I can't seem to find groups to go to kalphite king with to get better but this really helps.

Replacing specific skill lamps on SOF
Honestly, if people wanna buy spins then why not. That's their game experience and how they want to play. I don't mind people buying spins to get some free gp, cosmetics, supplies to be used etc. What I do mind is buying spins being so close to directly buying xp and shortcutting the entire game process when for years Jagex stance, which was imprinted on to all the old school players, was 'real life wealth should not give an in-game advantage'; buying xp does just that. I honestly don't like it either, but Jagex has made their stance on it saying this is for further game improvement (which they should have said from the start). I do get upset when I see other player earning their level by spins when others can not. However, two things strike me once I start to get upset. 1) As it stands now I have the same advantage as them. Because I currently work I can buy spins. So for ME to complain they are getting an unfair advantage is a mute point when I can do the same at this current time. 2) I myself want to buy spins, not for the exp but for the cosmetic wear. I'll be honest. I want the full herblore outfit from sof and the katana, but I'm more likely to wear it as an outfit, not skill or go to GWD. However, I don't buy spins because of the stigma that comes with it, even if I legitimately use it for "Fashionscape". I will always get accused of someone who bought their way to a higher level. So either I'm being self-righteous or scared. But, I think GreenXen's idea is a better one. Instead of a huge exp lamp they gave us double exp for hunter that we have to earn. So I got twice the exp, but I still have to take my sorry level 77 Hunter to Herblore Habitat. Further more, it was earned by doing a holiday event. Granted, some may think the event could have been better, we were rewarded with something good for taking time out to do it, much like a D&D or Minigame. So I agree with Green's idea. While still earned for sof you still have to work to get it. Therefore, you are limited by just how lazy you are, not how much you make in real life.

Taking down the Queen
I might be completely late with this comment and it might have changed since the recent update, but using a crystal bow is a better option over Karil's should you go back to range. The penance aura is also great as you won't need prayer pots (or maybe one pot at most).

I gave up on combat.
That could be done, but what we'd see, as with almost every other combat related item, is people complaining that this item devalues the more expensive option. Example include the Ankh and Dharok's. Both got nerf'd because they stronger than intended, and were cheaper options to higher tier equipment. The master wand was very good alternative to have especially with it 2.0% crt. Now I don't recall people complaining about the strength of that wand vs. others. But a lvl 80 tier masterwand would piss off a lot of Virtus wand owners. I agree with Saradomin_Mage when she says combat is just to armor centric now. As to abilities a good way to learn them is to visit monster and experiment. That's the only way you'll learn. Jumping into PvP is rather foolish unless you REALLY understand it. Ask people what abilities they like and why if you have to. And as they do updates test equipments out to see how they have changed. Start with low lvl monsters if you must. You can just read a description of an abilities then just into the deep end of the pool.

The Kalphite king. What i have tried, and found to work.
I was thinking about it and I said, to heck with it, I'll come. Just one more question. Based on your suggestions it seems a fighting familiar is the way to go. If we can't summon an iron/steel titan, do you suggest we summon our highest fighting familiar (Rune Minotaur or Swamp Titan in my case).

PoP Advice
Of course. It's very enjoyable even if just acting mostly through an interface. And while the rewards are long term, they appear certainly worth it. It will at first seem like there isn't enough ports to do if you end up liking it, but now I'm finding that I don't have enough time to port. With that said, if the idea of new armor, food, or aura like help items seem interesting (or if you like fictional stories) I would suggest doing it. And as always, you can visit the HYT friend chat (Serpents Eye) and we'll try to answer any port questions you got.

Interesting info here. Got a quick question, or two. 1) What would yo consider some absolute levels to fight the King in say a 5 or 20? 2) Do you have any idea is some lower tier armor would work in fighting the King, say Ahrim's? Or is this ill advised?
