  1. Not so much lazy idiots. Remember that trading with someone was the only way to check the prices of a group of items, outside of tedious calculator work that nobody should have to do for such a simple task. (It still is the only way, as a matter of fact, until this update is released.)
  2. lmfao! this is one of the greatest fails jagex has ever made  almost as bad as karils set effect #-o Well, it's not as if firemaking is useful in the first place, so compared to the entire skill it's not so much of a giant failure as you make it out to be. The whole skill is useless, so it's not as if the boost would be worth it even if it did let you burn better logs. Even if you could assist with firemaking, it wouldn't count for the diary. Assist system can't be used for quests or diaries.
  3. This month's BTS is great news. The first good news is the fixing of random events. This has been about a year coming already, so it's not a surprise, but I'm glad that it's arriving at last. We've waited long enough. I have mixed feelings about the announcement that higher-level players will receive fewer randoms in the future--on the one hand, they can be annoying, but on the other hand, the main reason they're so annoying is because the rewards suck. Nobody likes wasting 3 minutes for a measly 500 gp from a mime event, but multiply that amount by 200 or so and those mazes become much more bearable. The next bit of good news is what's not coming. Mobilizing Armies has been delayed. This is definitely a positive thing. Previous minigames, like Vinesweeper, Bounty Hunter, and Stealing Creation, suffered from insufficient development. Jagex is taking the time to do this one right, and that's a sign that they've learned something from past mistakes. I'm happy to wait longer to play new minigames if it means they'll be bug-free with non-crappy rewards right off the bat. In the past, we've had to wait for minigames to be fixed a couple weeks after they came out anyway. The other important thing we aren't seeing this month is a new quest. This is also a good sign, because it indicates that Jagex is, again, taking their time on the 150th quest. As this is a pretty major milestone, I would expect that it has a pretty major quest to go along with it. If they didn't release a brand-new Grandmaster, I'd have expected them to delay the release of While Guthix Sleeps to coincide with the big 150. Soul Wars doesn't have me as excited as the other announcements. I've noticed some slayers on this thread who are irate that it might be a faster way to train slayer than we already have. To them, I say that slayer is slow enough already--probably the slowest skill in the game--that making it a little faster, as Jagex did with the ZMI altar for runecrafting, would hardly detract from it as an achievement. Qeltar probably said it best when the release of Vinesweeper prompted complaints from high-level farmers. Anyway, I hope this new minigame will provide a worthy alternative to traditional slayer training, and perhaps additional incentives to train slayer as well. Most importantly, it should give worthy rewards in order to keep from descending into irrelevancy, as minigames like Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup, Gnomeball, and Gnome Restaurant have done. It's not enough just to be fun. I think the Rogue's Den is rather entertaining; it's just that there's no meaningful reward for it, so it feels like a waste. Hopefully Soul Wars will have gotten the same kind of development time that Mobilizing Armies is getting, and Jagex won't be afraid to push the rewards a little. If they nerf slayer I fear that the quote in your signature will become a reality. I'm looking forward to the random update though(hopes for 2nd set of all random clothing.. bank placeholders please?) Faster slayer experience would not be a nerf...what are you talking about? That would be the exact opposite of a nerf. #-o
  4. Yes, humidify would definitely be faster than alching if you used a fishbowl. (Fishbowls have a one-click empty, as opposed to buckets and such that require you to right-click to empty them.) You'd just fill and empty the fishbowl. It'd be pretty fast training.
  5. The limit is that you have to use pizazz points to buy them, which is probably significant enough as limits go. Other than that, buy as many as you want.
  6. Not to be off-topic, but what is really the use of an invisible firemaking boost? Can't light higher logs or anything. Good thinking jagex... -.- There isn't a use, unless you're like level 10 firemaking, in which case it lets you light more fires without failing. Yeah, I know. #-o
  7. Well, we can be fairly certain that the dragonkin weren't involved in the trapping of Azzanadra, so we can ignore the diamonds. (Yes, the number 4 can be just a coincidence. ;) ) But the four cardinal directions thing seems to be supported by the KBD's letter in the Postbag warning you about the four points of a compass. And it's true that we already seem to know of northern and western locations connected with the dragonkin: the Ancient Cavern is pretty well-confirmed, and the dragonkin symbol is definitely on those ruins in the spirit realm. Morytania we're less sure of, but the evidence is very strong, most notably the Postbag letter from the imp about how it smells of dragon dung there. So since we have, more or less, a north, east, and west location, maybe there is a southern location as well. But I don't think there's any evidence to point us one way or another. There are two big strikes against this theory. The first is that the Ancient Cavern isn't really "west" per se. It's northwest. If you look at it on a world map, it's probably around the same longitude as Ice Mountain, or roundabouts. If their stronghold was in the west, I would expect it to be in Arandar or Tirannwn, which is Runescape's westernmost region. And the KBD's hint strongly implies that it would be the 4 main compass directions we would need to watch for. The second is that we don't have any evidence of a dragonkin stronghold in the south, and it doesn't seem likely that there are any on Karamja or in the desert. We've already had opportunities to explore most of Karamja, thanks to the Brimhaven Dungeon, Shilo Village quest, and Legends Quest. There are various ancient evils around, but none of them are dragonkin--the only plausible link would be the dragons in Brimhaven Dungeon. That's our best clue. The Game Guide has this to say on the origins of Brimhaven Dungeon: The other possibility for the southern stronghold is the desert. There's still a small section that is yet unrevealed, but it seems to me like the Scabarites have done enough burrowing that an encounter with the dragonkin would have been hinted at in the Scabaras Notes. Also, remember that the area in question would have been home to the city of Ullek until the Third Age, and if dragonkin had been in the area it's likely the city would have been destroyed much sooner, since they're supposed to destroy just about everything in their path, if you recall. Menaphos, Sophanem, and Ullek would have been leveled long ago if they were built next to a dragonkin fortress.
  8. Actually, no, it doesn't work. The pyrelord's boost is invisible, meaning it doesn't let you light higher logs than you could normally light. You'll need to use spicy stew if you want to boost your firemaking without training it the regular way. Also, when I did the diary, you had to use a tinderbox and not a familiar to light the log for it to count for the magic-log-burning task, but that may have changed along with the bug fix for the cooking boost.
  9. I'm pretty sure it's only applicable to mithril dragons. The reason is that dragons are weaker to stab than to the typical slash attacks of the whip or dragon scimitar. For most dragons the difference is small enough not to matter, but mithril dragons have such incredibly high defence that it's much more relevant. The leaf-bladed sword is the strongest one-handed stab weapon in the game (not counting Vesta's Longsword of course) making it the ideal choice for meleeing mithril dragons. The other boss monster where this would be applicable is the corporeal beast, which is also much weaker to stab than to slash. However, in that case, a Zamorakian spear is preferable as it offers better stats than the leaf-bladed sword. The spear would be better at mith drags too, if it weren't for the obvious necessity of the shield slot to protect against dragonbreath. That's what I've been told, anyway...I haven't exactly killed a lot of mithril dragons or corporeal beasts, myself.
  10. No, the scimitar is the same speed as the dagger with better stats. The dragon dagger is useful only for the special attacks. But like I said, the obby sword + zerker necklace beats all dragon weapons for training any time you aren't fighting undead. (Undead monsters, by the way, are probably your best method anyway...you just need a couple quests out of the way first.)
  11. so you are saying that eucalyptus give more money and exp? Correct. Eucalyptus = better profit and better xp.
  12. I think it would be hilarious if they stabilized around the price Jagex originally had them at. It wouldn't be unprecedented; it happened with leaf-bladed swords, after all.
  13. There's no "perhaps" about it...it's well-established that Azzanadra = mahjarrat. ;) The diamonds were used to imprison Azzanadra. They are not related to the dragonkin. This is pretty well-confirmed in Desert Treasure, I believe.
  14. It's worth noting you can use a combat bracelet to teleport to the guild when your done with a load of yews and/or just banked your yews. If I remember right, you can recharge the bracelet in the legends guild so you only need to have one. No, you're probably thinking of the Champions' Guild. The Legends Guild doesn't have a teleport, unless you count the fairy ring. In any case, you'd still want multiple combat bracelets to save on recharging time. Come to think of it, why DON'T the Legend's guild and Hero's guild have teleports...those aren't as good as the Champion's Guild? It's F2P! It seems to me that perhaps the Legend's Guild could have some kind of teleport device...even if it was to crumble after a certain amount of uses... I guess there's just too many guilds for all of them to have teleports. It's a shame, really, because I'd prefer a Legends Guild teleport to a Ranging Guild teleport.

  16. The RS Wiki has a handy calculator for the gp/xp of all the various potions you can make. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Potions Prayer potions are probably a good bet for most of the way, as everything is easy to buy and sell and they're relatively cost-effective. When you hit higher levels you may prefer super attack, super strength, or super energy potions, which are also reasonably cost-effective and easy to buy and sell, but are faster experience. Super restores, antifires, range pots, and sara brews are good potions too, although you can't make them until after your goal level anyway, so there wouldn't be much point I suppose. Combat potions are pretty expensive--the finished potion's price is less than half that of the ingredients'. Prayer potions would be a better choice, as they are cheaper for about the same experience.
  17. The best place to cut yews is at the Gnome Stronghold with a planted yew in the tree patch. The best places to cut magics are Lletya with crystals and the Ranging Guild with combat bracelets. However, they're both slow moneymakers and poor woodcutting experience, and they're inferior in most every way to eucalyptus, which are at Oo'glog. (You can look in my woodcutting guide if you have further questions.)
  18. The scimitar is faster for training, although both are surpassed by a toktz-xil-ak obsidian sword with a berserker necklace. (Unless of course you're fighting undead monsters with a salve ammy.) And obviously a whip is best, but I assume that's what you're training your attack for.
  19. So if you have a high summoning level you seem weak? Tell that to whoever has to stare down my massive sidekicks. You don't look so weak with a gigantic titan behind you. There's NO drawback to the extra combat levels from summoning. They are only a good thing. They let you access higher slayer masters and pest control landers without detracting from your PKing at all. Why would it bother you to be a higher level?
  20. For bank-tethered skills like herblore or fletching, the bank at Oo'glog is a great spot, because you can stand on the square just outside the bank without being in a safe zone, and you can still bank. Also, if you're attacked (which is going to be pretty rare considering the seclusion of the spot) you can run to the spa pools and jump in, and they can't hit you. Then you can just go to the thermal bath and be restored to more than your max hp. It's also great because you can train woodcutting at the eucalyptus trees and bank without entering a safe zone. Eucalyptus trees are one of the best training methods for woodcutting, superior to willows or yews. Furthermore, it's also among the best spots in the game for training firemaking, with lots of open space. You could also use it for moneymaking by buying from the meat shop just north of the bank--it's fast cash, and you build drop potential. And of course, unlike FoG or BH, the bank has a safe zone as well, so it's much easier to escape.
  21. Well, this thread happens to be about the workers, and as it happens, they're fairly easy to get in a safe spot. Examples: [hide=] [/hide]
  22. You can't sneeze with your eyes open either. What's your point? mythbusters did it...pwnd? I don't see where you're going with this... The point is, it's as irrelevant whether you can safespot a creature with a ranged attack as it is whether you can sneeze with your eyes open, because the creature in question uses only melee. And yes, there are safe spots. The ones on the bottom floor, for example, can be blocked pretty easily on the staircases.

id go to barbarian for single combat multi giants at chaos tunnels will rip you It's very easy to fight only one at a time. Just fight near the wall. Anyway, they become tolerant after ~10 minutes and it ceases to be an issue.
  24. You can't sneeze with your eyes open either. What's your point?
  25. Coincidence. Or is it? *dramatic drum sounds* Yes, it is.
