  1. Yep, you were probably at the special pit used for catching a Broav during While Guthix Sleeps.
  2. Guards only have 220 life. If your max is higher than that, it'll skew towards even.
  3. I'm pretty sure I saw a quote from a j-mod that said you would be placed back at your previous rank if you resubscribe with a 200m stat instead of being put at the bottom. I've been hearing the exact opposite. That you will be placed at the bottom of the 200m list. No, you'll get the old rank back. Confirmed via Twitter.
  4. "Why, my sweet little tot," the fake Santy Claus lied, "There's a light on this tree that won't light on one side. "So I'm taking it home to my workshop, my dear. "I'll fix it up there. Then I'll bring it back here."
  5. You should do 2 and 3. 2 because Turmoil and Soul Split are awesome, 3 because quests are great. What's this about 83 hunter? You only need 74 to catch igneous jadinkos. You can boost to that from your current level.
  6. BTW, as any Magic: The Gathering player will tell you, the correct term is GUB, not BBG. :ugeek:
  7. Hey, this is only page 158. You told me it was 314. Liar!
  8. Dicing is worse than the Duel Arena because staking doesn't lure in gullible noobs--regardless of the reality, staking is perceived as requiring skill, so players who aren't confident in their skill don't stake. But dicing gives everyone equal odds, which makes it attractive to a different kind of player.
  9. Ferocious ring gives a flat damage boost on each hit, so it's more effective on faster weapons--e.g. if you normally hit half the damage at twice the speed, ferocious ring means instead of x + x vs. 2x, you'd be looking at (x + 40) + (x + 40) vs. 2x + 40.
  10. You can swap the big bones for laws--sell one, buy the other. They buy and sell quickly on the GE; the exchange rate is approximately 2 laws per big bone.
  11. If they later join the EP, I think their guest articles will be tagged under their name. Well, even then, tagging them when they're first posted is much more efficient, since there's no need to comb through the archives to find them again.
  12. The guest authors are tagged as "Guest", but not as their name? What if the same person submits two guest articles? Or what if a guest writer later joins the editorial team? The name should be tagged too.

It was added as a reward relatively recently, so it would be easy to miss.
  14. I know, right.
  15. Well according to this, blue dragons are 800k+, so I'm just assuming green dragons are better than that. I'm ballparking, basically. But whatever--I'm pretty sure it's not worth getting 85 mining for runite when you already have near-maxed melees for killing dragons, right?
  16. Yeah, why would you say woodcutting? We just went over how crappy it is. I mean, mahogany logs are better than yews, I guess, but it's not like they're good. And fishing is almost as bad--I mean, you can maybe get 300k gp/hr at with rocktails, but that's the max, and the OP can't even do that for another like 4m xp. So you're saying spend 70+ hours training (while earning no profit) to unlock a moneymaker that's slower profit than running planks? That's...not good advice. At all. Same deal for mining--the only real moneymaker in the skill is runite, which, even if the OP had the level for it, would be slower than killing dragons.
  17. It's also the kind of high quality low level content designed specifically to lure people into buying members; as like it or not as recent interviews with jmods mentioned F2P is essentially a demo and the ultimate goal is to get players to buy members. And despite what some people seem to think it isn't a case of low level stuff should all go f2p and high level members, jagex wants people in members asap, so they need appealing low level content. Plus kinda obvious it wouldn't be f2p given full voice acting would of made it significantly more costly to develop so they want returns on it via membership fees. See, that's the kind of attitude that hurts the game. It's an approach that's focused on enticing existing players to upgrade to paid accounts, and it might succeed at that to some extent. But dangling goodies in front of the existing players isn't going to do shit to attract new players to the game. If you want to do that, you've got to improve the free game, especially at low levels. And the thing here is, this update would have been perfect for just that. It's a great low-level quest, it deals with mature themes that could help dispel RuneScape's negative reputation as a kiddie game, the rewards are uninteresting for members but very exciting for free players, and, well, it's just plain fun, unlike most of the crappy F2P quests that are poorly-designed holdovers from Classic. And it could have been F2P with literally no changes--there's absolutely nothing in this quest that has anything to do with existing or future members' content. It could have been a home run for the free game--a shining gem of the best of what RuneScape's quests have to offer. But dropping it in the members' bin reduces it to the level of mediocrity--just one more quest out of 200, nothing special. This was a missed opportunity, and that's rather tragic, I think. The worst part is, they made it members-only as a carrot, but it's not even a good carrot. Beginner-level quests are crappy carrots. Nobody's going to subscribe because they're excited about the new beginner-level quest.
  18. There's no way it would be better than armoured zombies, which have an actual altar. F2P would enjoy it, though. Really, the biggest issue with this quest was that it wasn't F2P. This is the sort of high-quality low-level content that the free game is desperately lacking.
  19. I completely agree with you on every other point (I take back my previous comments on getting the helmet over rings first), but this is slightly incorrect. At 500 total levels in temple trekking, the games necklace becomes the fastest non-Drakan's Medallion method of accessing Temple Trekking. Ah, and just how do you plan to do all those treks to unlock that teleport if you don't have a way of getting to Temple Trekking?
  20. Support. Yeah, they're about 95k gp/hr at maxed woodcutting. They could be triple the price they are now, and they'd still be a crappy moneymaker, lol.
  21. Slayer helm is only important for dust devils and aberrant spectres, where you can't use a black mask. And it's really not important for specs either, if you're cannoning them with deflect mage. Outside of those tasks (and wall beasts or banshees, which are only assigned by lower slayer masters), you're only missing out on a few defensive bonuses, which are nice to have but certainly not necessary. You're generally better off prioritizing slayer rings, which are more useful overall--you can't do terror dogs without them (or maybe you can in the Dominion Tower now, not sure); the teleports are useful for speeding up tasks like Goraks, Abby Specs, Kalphites, and Waterfiends; and they actually have uses outside of slaying (fastest access to morchella mushroom planting, fastest way to buy broad arrowheads/bolt tips, fastest access to Temple Trekking pre-Branches of Darkmeyer, fastest access to Glacors, incredibly useful for getting around while questing...etc). So, definitely rings.
  22. I'd say learn to make slayer rings. You can buy broad bolts if you need em. After that, go for the slayer helm, and then the fletching. Don't be afraid to block crappy tasks before you buy the abilities, though.
  23. You should keep training slayer because your slayer level is too low. 67 is the minimum you should be aiming for, since you need it for questing.
  24. They need to improve the free game. Particularly the free game at low levels. Dwarven army axe should have been free. Wicked hood should have been free. One Piercing Note should have been free. The reason they're not is cuz the higher-ups at Jagex wanted them to be an incentive to subscribe, but you know what's an even better incentive to subscribe? A fun game. If they'd realize that and take it to heart, RuneScape would be in a much better place than it is now.
  25. Today I'd like to take the time to plug three cool things that you should check out while you're waiting for me to actually write something original. Well, I've written quite a lot of original things recently (I'm in two different writing classes this quarter, so I have a bunch of silly little short things that I've written for school). I just haven't posted them here cuz they didn't seem "bloggy" or "RuneScapey". Anyway, instead, I'mma point out some other cool things that you should check out. This is GrindScape. As far as I know, it's the only regularly-updating RuneScape webcomic out there. (If you know of any more, drop a comment on this entry!) And it's not bad. If you like RuneScape and you like webcomics, give it a look. It's still young, so if you jump in now, you can read all the archives without having to stay up all night! Quick! If any of my readers are or have young'uns, I suppose I should warn you that it contains explicit language and stuff. So heads-up, I guess. Their website is http://grindscapecomic.com/. Magic cards with googly eyes. 'Nuff said. And lastly, Super Smash Land. It's a demake of Super Smash Bros. So, it's like if Smash Bros were a Gameboy game. And as you can see from the trailer, it's pretty sweet. Yes, it is a playable game, with three different gameplay modes (Classic, Endless, and Versus), four starting characters (Pikachu, Link, Mario, and Kirby), two unlockable characters (Megaman and Vaporeon), and, oh, you can download it for free! The official website is http://supersmashland.com/. If you're a fan of Smash Bros (and who isn't?), I guarantee you'll at least get a kick out of it. Okay, that's my plugs for the week. Well, okay, one more, a little more self-serving: W22 Fishing is recruiting! We could use some more hands to work the Fishadel. Interested in cheap, quick mining/firemaking/smithing/woodcutting xp? Visit this thread. Anyway. 'S good stuff. Have fun.
