  1. Just do quests. They're the best thing, anyway.
  2. The dragon ones have special attacks, anyway.
  3. Troacctid replied to DarkDude's topic in Off-Topic
Where've you been the past, like, six months or something? This has been around for ages now.
  4. Which is what I never understood about efficiency campaigns. Unless the desired goal is specified otherwise, it is impractical for there to be a "right" way to play in an Online Role Playing Game. Well, ceteris paribus, whatnot.
  5. After Branches of Darkmeyer you unlock a Barrows teleport medallion that teleports you near the weird old man's shack. After Ritual of the Mahjarrat you unlock an extra Barrows brother.
  6. Just do a bunch of whatever quests you can do. Basically, the more quests you do, the better. And do them sooner rather than later because the xp rewards will be more useful at low levels. in after elitism and inb4 "you need overloads now otherwise you suck" you do not *need* a rapier as soon as possible. you can do perfectly fine with a whip until you decide you need a rapier. However, the rest of above peoples comments ring true. farming, slayer, questing, herblore are the ones to work on now youre a member. summoning too when you decide to do so Worth getting and you have to get are very different. I just suggested he get one when he can because it helps a lot, that's all. I am skeptical that that's useful advice for someone just starting at P2P with, like, lv1 in all the P2P skills and no gear better than katagon.
  7. Quest kit makes ropes, spades, bowls, buckets, thread, light sources, planks, and waterskins, so it's technically not quite obsolete. And golden hammer is still a vanity item what with the emotes and whatnot.
  8. Dwarven Army Axe lets you craft brooches! Yeah, they should really make it F2P. Wait, did anyone actually use beavers for fletching?
  9. Seems like Aquatic/Carrion or Amphibious/Carrion should be better than Igneous/Carrion if you have the juju hunter potion supplies.
  10. A lot of older quests especially don't give you very good hints in the quest journal. And the actual spoiler was immensely helpful because it always had a full map with diagrams and highlighting and stuff giving you exact instructions--almost always better than fan-made guides, and you could get it without spoiling the rest of the quest.
  11. Ghostly warriors are actually in the spirit realm axe hut. You're thinking of shadow warriors (not undead), who are in the Legends Guild basement.
  12. They're not undead, actually.
  13. Slayer is good because it gives slayer xp. However, I wouldn't fault anyone for being uncomfortable with it at lower levels. I'd understand if he wanted to get, like, 60 attack first, for better weapons. But you need slayer levels for some important things, like 18 for Animal Magnetism (Ava's Device to automatically pick up your ranged ammo), 30 for Slug Menace (Proselyte gear), and 40 for Royal Trouble (maximum efficiency for Managing Miscellania)/Tarn's Lair (upgraded Salve Ammy for faster training). So the sooner that sort of stuff is available, the better. Keep that in mind. I suggest working on quests, since a lot of them give combat xp. Slayer is still good as well. And other than that, if you're gonna camp, try something undead so that you can use the Salve Ammy for +15% attack and strength. (Do Haunted Mine if it's not already done.) Some undead monsters to choose from: ghostly warriors, ankous, armoured zombies, banshees.
  14. Mark Rosewater wrote an article today that covered a very similar topic (relevant to both of this week's articles): http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/mm/172 Magic: The Gathering struggled for a few years with a decreasing playerbase because the cards they were designing for established players were gradually raising the game's complexity level and increasing the barrier to entry for new players. R&D responded by changing their design philosophy to be more conscious of the new player's experience, and since then, sales and tournament attendance have both risen to an all-time high. In RuneScape, the problem's not complexity, but the root cause (catering to established players but neglecting the newbies) is the same, and I strongly believe that it's going to take a comparable paradigm shift for Jagex to turn things around.

There's also mining at clan citadels, which is good xp at that level.
  16. But they aren't supposed to be actual wings; they are meant to be a shimmering magical aura, the same as the vague colour shapes we get on weapons from auras. To me its perfectly fitting that they are flat given their context. How would you know the exact intent of the wings? In the fantasy world they could very well have the capacity for flight. Glowy wings = Visual cue to represent awesome magical power Also, magic wings don't have to flap
  17. Actually, there are five herb patches and six fruit tree patches.
  18. The watchman stationed at that beacon is a polar bear. You need 81 summoning to talk to polar bears (10 levels higher than the summoning requirement for Arctic Bear pouches). If you don't have that level, you can light the beacon, but you can't ask the polar bear for help.
  19. Just on principle, that is not a good idea.
  20. You can clean out items from your bank until you have enough free slots left, or you can resubscribe to add new placeholders, or you can keep everything in your inventory forever.
  21. Get Jack of Trades. It's the best one.
  22. There's some evidence that DDS specs might be slightly better than claw specs anyway. (For most slayer tasks.) Relevant link. Really? That's not bad. Is that with pack yak/scrolls + rapier + overloads + turmoil?
  23. The sun vs. wind fable is a particularly apt metaphor, yes. I'll still maintain that One Piercing Note should have been F2P.
  24. Plagiarism is bad, guys. Seriously, don't copy and paste.
  25. Yeah, it has Aggressive, Defensive, and Controlled. The Aggressive stance is the most effective of the three because it's the one that uses slash instead of stab; its slash stat is higher.
