  1. I think Twitter can be quite useful if you're a musician, company or just someone that has a life interesting enough to read about. I had an account there and kept it for a month before deleting it, mostly out of pure laziness. My life isn't also very interesting; updates consisted of "playing this game," "watching this show," et cetera. The fact that I also quite like my anonymity these days is another factor - the only social networking site I really use is Last.fm, and I keep stuff ambiguous on there. I really don't see the need for another Twitter/Tumblr clone, though.
  2. I have always used Samsung and Corsair respectively. I've had no problems with either of those brands.
  3. so...yesterday? :? One or two jokes about my youthful appearance is enough. :V Sonata Arctica is another band; they bring me back to a couple of years ago when I used to be in a "band" with some friends. I had not been playing guitar for very long and we made an attempt to cover Blank File... yeah, draw your own conclusion from that.

    Silly fears

Agreed with talking on phones. If I'm the only one at home, I will ignore the phone completely. I swear, I am never ever having a landline when I move out.
  5. I am going to hunt you down for that one. I am also easily moved by works of fiction, even though I'm a guy. I have never cried in a cinema, though.
  6. Hah. I know. I just think a good straight-up telling can be really funny sometimes.

  7. Whenever I hear a DragonForce song, I think about being 13 and into MMOs.
  8. I'm not a judgmental person, don't worry. All of Nasu's novels are pretty bad, but I didn't mind Tsukihime. Fate is mind-numbing; Nasu has this really horrible habit of recapping everything that happened prior to that important plot twist I've been waiting for, or an ero scene. Just read Tsukihime and don't bother with any other Type-Moon material ever. Key and Akabesoft games are awesome.
  9. So, it's basically a system similar to China's, where any content that goes against the Australian government's principles will be blocked? Please correct me if I'm wrong. It's strange that a first-world, democratic nation such as Australia needs to impose such restrictions on the freedoms of its people. People think that the United Kingdom is a "police state," but it is absolutely nothing compared to what is currently going on in Australia. The last I heard of the proposed broadband filter was that it was being trialled and it got canned, maybe I've missed something or read something wrong. I can see something like this happening in the United Kingdom in the coming years, especially if we gather a conservative government, but that is another point for another time. I thought that was just about the most ridiculous thing ever when I read about it. I still think it is.
  10. Whoa whoa, I was just wondering. I wasn't trying to be a [bleep].
  11. Closing this for now, as I'm going to be talking stuff over with my father, weighing stuff up, etc.
  12. For quite some time now, I've been interested in moving away from Pipex/Tiscali since their acquisition by TalkTalk. However, I am faced by two main problems: Limited availability in my area - the ISP I was looking into (Be) does not operate here I live with my parents, so I need to find something reasonably-priced yet reliable I have an ADSL line that can support speeds of up to 2Mb with fixed line and up to 8Mb with ADSL Max. PlusNet is one that I've also looked into, but I'm really not sure about having both a usage allowance and heavy traffic shaping; but they do offer unmetered and unthrottled off-peak (which is quite attractive to me, because I do the bulk of my downloading then also.) Here are some general things that I'm looking for in an ISP: Little to no traffic management Unlimited is preferable, or a high download cap Around the same price as our current contract with Pipex (28.95 GBP) Low-latency would be useful seeing as both my father and I play online games Reliability and good support are a must; I'm tired of Tiscali's bad support I'm a fairly moderate user myself. On a "heavy" month, I may pull around 40-60GB of bandwidth, but it's usually around 30GB. My father is much heavier than I am; he's a persistent downloader of large files, which is why I'm kind of wary about getting a connection with a bandwidth cap. However, all the 'unlimited' providers in the UK seem to be total rubbish bar one or two. Honestly, I'm completely confused as to what's "good" or not in the UK. I've seen so many differing opinions on just about every major ISP, so if anyone can shed some light on something a little less well-known that suits my needs, let me know. Many thanks.
  13. Do you ever watch anything outside the shounen demographic? wwwww I've not really been watching much lately... I watched Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, which I liked despite how absurd it was. I've also started to watch Maria+Holic again. Only a year late!
  14. Opera: How about an unusual browser? This is called Jane Style, and it's used for browsing the Japanese BBS 2ch:
  15. Yeah. It varies a lot depending on the time of day, but that's a good idea of the maximum speed I can hit. I've had few problems with Tiscali/Pipex and poor speed, unlike a lot of people. They've always given me fairly decent service too.
  16. John Wetton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wMFk7DODYE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94jMS2u7954 When that bass part kicks in is one of the greatest moments of rock history.
  17. You can avoid almost all virus trouble by just using common sense. Personally, I don't see a need to have a software firewall or even an antivirus (although, I do run one of these) to an extent, if you're an experienced user. It just ends up as wasted system resources. I would say you're secure as it is. Also, you are very unlikely to get anything malicious coming through BitTorrent itself, but beware of what executable files you download and run. If you suspect it, scan it. Still in doubt? Delete it. It's that simple.
  18. The wording is irrelevant. Malware is nothing more than a program(s), and you can make it say what ever you want. I suggest doing a full virus scan of your computer to check if this is the problem. I think you have missed my point. I don't think a legitimate Windows error would be worded in the way those messages are.
  19. If you go into your library, you can remove artists. There should be a little "x" in the top right-hand corner of the picture.
  20. The wording of the messages alone is more than enough to set off some alarm bells. Screenshots are necessary, I think.
  21. I'm not a very big Demons & Wizards fan. I really like Iced Earth and Blind Guardian but the two of them put together is so bland and uninspiring. Anyone listen to Adagio here? I recently decided to give Archangels in Black a listen, and I was blown away by it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbTI8hXfJlk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5XPCS_agQw
  22. That sounds like some kind of malware. I've had a hard disk fail and Windows did not notify me at all. Download this and post a logfile here.
