  1. Starting to like them more? :) Yeah. It all started to click together after a minute or so of listen #2. There are so many subtle things in their music that I never really noticed first time around. Yes' Close to the Edge. My favourite progressive rock album. Down at the end Round by the corner Close to the end Down by the river. Seasons will pass you by. I get up, I get down.

That's the thing I've found with a lot of bands I like - most of them tend to play 18+ venues, which I don't really blame them for; but it would be nice if they played a couple of 16+ ones.
  3. Their debut is probably my favourite, but they're consistent really. I need to listen to The Conductor's Departure more though.

What the [bleep] dude. That's extortionate. I thought it was expensive to go and see Porcupine Tree (I decided against it when I saw it would be £65 for two tickets) but this just takes it.
  5. Gorod's Process of a New Decline. Okay, I get it now. Good music.
  6. You ever listened to Anata, jaerk? Pretty sure you'd like them if you like Gorod (in fact, I like them more than Gorod).

If you're already not considered normal, drinking will only make you worse. Wise choice. No don't. Sit upright against a wall or something and relax your neck. Lying down only worsens back/shoulder/neck pain.
  8. Don't children always hate the music their parents like? Just pretend to like really bad music for the first 13 years of their life, then bring out the good stuff. If my son/daughter is anything like me, they'll shun popular music until said age and then start raiding my CD collection. On another note, any girlfriend I have better be tolerant of my love for music...

If you seriously don't want to drink, just be firm about it. If they don't listen, plan to do something else. Or you may enjoy it. You never know. Trust me, they won't listen. I've told them over and over but that didn't stop my mum [bleep]ing my drink (I realised though and didn't drink it). The only way they're getting me to come is if they literally force me, I WON'T be guilted into going to the pub, not this time. My dad can threaten to leave all he wants, I'm not going to do it. Whoa whoa wait, hold on here. Your mum did WHAT? ...what kind of a parent would do that? Anyway, I was feeling crappy and so I took a nap. I'm much better now. ;D Rofl yeah she did. I thought I was being paranoid at the time but a few weeks back she told me (while drunk) and I was like AHA! It's the 'I want me daughter to be normal and drink like everyone else we know does' sort of parent. If my parents tried to pull something like that on me I probably wouldn't speak to them for a while to be honest. I've seen how some of my friends behave when they're drunk. I don't really want to go there at all. Heh. It's not like it isn't normal to drink - it's just how much you drink. At the end of the day it is very much a personal choice, and it's important to make people understand it.

  11. Maybeshewill's Not for Want of Trying. Probably my album of the week.
  12. Chances are it's that, Spending hours on end teaching your kid music that you like, or mainstream. This is me you're talking to. My kid is going to be subjected to hours of Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, Nick Drake and World's End Girlfriend.

  14. If I was a parent and my kid listened to Marilyn Manson, I would probably die from shame. I wouldn't stop them though.

Happy birthday! I'm just looking forward to turning 17, so I can lose the whole "school age" [cabbage]. Oh wait - I'm still going to be in school when I'm 17.
  16. Fall of Troy's song titles are the most off-putting thing about the band. They're just plain odd, and not odd in a good way. Nick Drake's Pink Moon. Matches my mood right now.
  17. Thursday - As He Climbed the Dark Mountain Off the split EP Thursday/Envy. Thursday is the only second-wave post-hardcore band that I find listenable.
  18. On the subject of Gorod, I decided to check them out today. I got hold of their latest album and I have to say that it was rather underwhelming. It had good moments but the whole thing just felt so inconsistent - there were some brilliantly creative riffs and polished musicianship followed up by what I would call generic tech-death fare. It's not a horrible album by any means; but I just can't see what all the hype about them is. I wonder if their earlier work is better.

Ah, car accidents. How fun. I've been in about three or four myself and as a result of the whiplash, my left shoulder is buggered. Good to hear you got out without anything serious.
  20. Envy is awesome. Anata's The Infernal Depths of Hatred. I don't listen to metal much anymore. When I do, I make sure that it's good stuff.
  21. *shels' album Sea of the Dying Dhow. *shels = post-metal gods
  22. My Bloody Valentine - Cupid Come Isn't Anything deserves as much recognition as Loveless gets. I used to rate Loveless as the best thing that MBV ever put out but my opinion has taken a 360 on it recently. Isn't Anything is comforting, relaxing music at its finest. You Made Me Realise is my favourite MBV release, though.

I refuse to believe that two weeks of occasionally playing videogames has made my eyesight worse. I was already fairly short-sighted to begin with, but it wasn't really detrimental enough to warrant everyday glasses use. However, now I'm starting to suffer some nasty headaches from reading text, watching TV, and from my monitor. My stepdad and I were supposed to go in together to get our eyes checked but him having work has delayed it somewhat; and my current glasses are completely off the mark. Apart from that, I've had quite a nice day. Went out to band practice earlier so I'm in quite a pleasant mood right now. Oh, and ironically my eyesight has worsened since I switched over to an LCD monitor. When I had my CRT, I was 20/20. Weird.
  24. Ever since I was stung as a kid, I've had this really nasty fear of wasps and bees. I can feel the panic starting to set in if I know there is one in my house, and God help me if one happens to come into the room I'm in at the time. I have to make a big effort not to dive out of the way if one happens to come near me when I'm outside. Yeah. Panic attacks over wasps and bees. Apart from that, I don't really have anything that frightens me - apart from the dark. It's a similar feeling to the wasps/bees; but it's something so much more common. I'm not even sure why being in the dark makes me panic so much.
  25. There are a few I would call "unknown" on here, but there's a lot of stuff that is pretty well-known. Your average person just wouldn't listen to it.
