  1. That's Adio for you. He calls people out a lot.
  2. Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm YEAH!
  3. My Dying Bride is very hard to listen to at the best of times. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhxhEIRqH4M He lacks emotion. He's like a robot, just like the rest of those DT [bleep]s. Aaron from the aforementioned My Dying Bride, however, cannot sing clean at all; but it's full of emotion.
  4. D: how do you dislike going to gigs. I like to chillax at home with a beer, not stand in a crowd and get crushed. ;_;
  5. Yeah, I was just trying to related it to this thread. Loads of music is derided for no good reason at all. Metal needs all the subgenres because of how many bands there are that try to bend the boundaries of their given genre - not to mention that bands, on an elementary level, sound different to one another. Agreed on metal being a counter-culture too.
  6. The first time I heard Cult of Luna, I thought they were dreadful. Difficult songs (up to 15 minutes) with shouted, hardcore vocals. Now, though, I love them a big lot. It was just a matter of getting past the somewhat endless songs and tackling them bit-by-bit rather than in one full go. Same goes for post-rock bands really.
  7. Metal is defended ardently because ignorant [bleep]s who refuse to listen to anything besides the very entry-level bash it.
  8. Most of the metalheads I know have short hair - but they do conform to the other two. I myself have long hair, and I dislike going to gigs unless my friends ask me to.
  9. any better? You're calling my music piss-poor. Ahahaha, piss-poor it is not. I have no ability to recognize variety in all the subgenres of metal or even a single subgenre, because it is not appealing to me. But for some reason you guys claim the right to call the music I do enjoy worse than yours, because you don't enjoy it. Double standards much? I do sincerely apologize if I mislabeled any bands listed, but what I said was not meant to be taken as an absolute blanket statement. I thought that was obvious. And what you guys may call soft . . . really. Perspective. I don't like metal enough to listen to these humble bands, much less delve into whatever is hardcore or whatever according to your standards. I decided to call you out and answer with my own faked ignorance, because simply put, you called metal 'meaningless'. Sure there's a lot of variety in metal and there's really, quite honestly something for everyone to enjoy. And to be honest your music is significantly "harder" than a good 70% of what I listen to these days. I get where you're coming from, but I get really worked up [as a former hardcore metal devotee] when non-metalheads really get on their high horses and call metal 'mindless noise'; sure, there's vast amounts of ultra-[cabbage] metal as there is any other music [Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Dream Theater, anyone?], but it just happens that these ultra-[cabbage] metal bands are the ones that get all the publicity for being really [bleep] and easily accessible. No wonder they put people off. Hardcore? Me? I don't listen to metalcore or hardcore. I have no standards for music - as far as I give a [bleep] about, everyone can get on with their own music as long as they don't force it down my throat. I was simply calling you out - I remember reading a post of [possibly, someone with similar taste] yours before, and I felt similarly about it then, but I didn't bother calling you out because I thought youor whoever it was would think again before making a blanket statement like 'lol everyone's soooo hardcore xD! br00tal death metals that are obscure!' Oh and just so you know - if you knew what I listened to [link in sig] you would've known better than to take my condemning statement to heart. Also, I must apologise for my shoddy, shoddy English - 11:25pm here and I'm really tired.
  10. KyoAni are so cunning, man. Who would've thought it? Such amazing trolls. Clannad: After Story 16 left me with a lump in my throat.
  11. I would chill, but every time I see a post saying that 'metal is loud noise', I fire up with rage. This is noise: This is death metal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCjp4oaLDgg Learn the difference. It could save your life.
  12. So basically, you decide to express your disdain for people who listen to something other than piss-poor radio-friendly rock? Sorry bro, but I suggest you brush up on both your facts and musical taste before you come here and condemn people that a) have some variety, and B) enjoy metal. The pultrichude and depth of death metal is amazing, and I suggest you listen to some before you call it "loud noise". Ahahaha, loud noise it is not, broseph.
  13. I hate Edge of Sanity and anything that Dan Swano has been involved with, except for Steel. That band is awesome. Boris - Wareruraido
  14. My Bloody Valentine maudlin of the Well Boris Spiritualized Asobi Seksu Porcupine Tree Radiohead Sigur Rós Efterklang Agalloch
  15. Dead Can Dance - In the Wake of Adversity
  16. Listening to Within the Realm of a Dying Sun right now. Thanks, it's pretty good. @Above: The Pineapple Thief
  17. Asobi Seksu is a [bleep]ing wonderous band.
  18. I avoid all the cute, ditzy girl crap by only watching deep, philosophical anime. Seriously, I used to be a hardcore anime and manga nut before I realised: I was wasting my time. I still have a lot of love for Haibane-Renmei and Serial Experiments Lain. I love the artwork and everything; and the storylines really sucked me in on those two. Overlooked due to spineless [cabbage] like Code Geass, NAROOTOE, BLEECH, INOOYAHSHA, etc.
  19. Children of Bodom is power metal. OP: Check out Ablaze My Sorrow and Insomnium. All you need.
  20. Alcest is really uninspiring, by-the-book shoegaze imo. Blonde Redhead is dreampop/noisepop. @Nadril: I would say so.
  21. Oh, come on. If you're going to troll, at least use some intuition.
  22. #2 - Korosu Heavy Rocks is the sh*t. Much better for getting high to than all this Sublime crap I've been seeing.
