03-May-2011 Capes of Distinction
Mmm. Some people who can't get the veteran's cape - it seems Jagex is discounting time played as F2P. As for advertising in F2P - sometimes a malicious ad slips through now and again. Least that was how it was years ago. I wouldn't know, now, because of Firefox.

Don't you want to become a dragon? ;) Just teasing.

03-May-2011 Capes of Distinction
There won't be much protest over the classic cape. Why? Because too many of the old ones have gone. Heheheh. Browsing the RSOF, the line "F2P is a demo" or "F2P is a trial version" or even "F2Pers should count themselves lucky, other games don't get updates on their free version" are resurfacing.

Jagex - Bot Busting
Closer to 40-50 per world on average actually, what with it being a popular spot for combat.

02-May-2011 - Behind the Scenes May
As long as they don't botch it by modifying stats/features a la dungeoneering rewards, and update it with new abilities from time to time as they see fit, I have no complaint. The sagas sound interesting.

What's wrong with pink? Plenty of you guys liked strolling around in those pink skirts sold from the Varrock shop.

Jagex - Bot Busting
That's the problem. People expect them to, expect that white crown is for more than show or a status symbol. That it's a responsibility. Why be held in high regard by Jagex - way many see it - when you're not going to exercise even the slight power to temporarily mute? Player moderators aren't anything like Game Moderators/Masters in other MMOs, and it's this mistaken belief that's at issue, I think.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Annoy them, insult them, pretend to run away by running a little higher in the wild - well, it often worked for me, and it helped that I could teleblock and bind them, not to mention kiting around a signpost or a rock. Heheh. Prayer flashing also works to annoy.

Tip.It Times - 1st May 2011
So it's not so much only the content that keeps players in the game but the people they meet and have fun with. A very good point.

Why doesn't Jagex incorporate this to stop bots?
The cheaters would simply "crack" the client i.e. trick it into thinking it is legitimate or it detects nothing, patching it after every weekly update. And we technically already download the game anyway since it's placed in its own cache. And one of those who helped acquire thousands of accounts during the mass hack was a kid. Plenty of kids out there get interested in programming out of frustration with the game, actually. And there's plenty more who are willing to wait for somebody to release a good working public bot client and stick by it. Welcome to Runescape, where cheating has been endemic from the first year on out. EDIT: @Cowboy Competition is part of the game since it's a MMO. Some folk enjoy competing, no?

Magicka, eh? On topic, forcing users to install something like Warden is not the way to go about stopping bots. I'd much rather they addressed the cause of botting, but it could be argued there wouldn't be much of a game left if they minimized grinding.

What's causing the price of Ranarr going down? (Soceress garden bots)
To see what happens. That's what I'm interested in. Only reason I'm still around after all these years is that I ask myself the question, "Let's see what happens." Heh. Anyway, if they did that but left P2P alone, maybe they'll start rigorously policing the heavily botted areas with Jmods. Yea, it's definitely better to bot in members; it's easy to get membership with all the different ways to pay now. On topic: are there any resource items that are relatively stable? Any at all?

What's causing the price of Ranarr going down? (Soceress garden bots)
Eliminating the wild and free trade in F2P will cut off a majority of the bots, dumping the bot problem on members' laps with the added benefit of said removed features from F2P.

They could always remove Free Trade and revert the wild to old pvp world rules. At least, free trade in F2P. Heheheh.

Developers Console...
Eh, if you're going to stay in this game, then it's probably to see how far the trainwreck Runescape's become is going to last. There's something morbidly fascinating about it, like an inglorious accident happening right before your eyes. I'll bring the popcorn.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
The defense bot script is close to elegant since it doesn't get in your way if you're on the same team. They also barrier up to help their activity bar when it's quarter time. Biggest problem involves pathfinding and a tendency to accidentally score the enemy orb in. It'd be more effective if they used the attract wand since there are plenty of spawns that aren't click-and-forget as I like to call a few. The scoring bots seem incomplete; they like going for the center spots of the altar but fudge up when orbs aren't one shot clicks. EDIT: there also appears to be a type that just spams the blue wizard and just attracts yellow orbs regardless of team color.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
You'd be surprised just how many bots. I took a peek a couple of days back in w61, Vief was being spammed by bots. Acantha too. Most of the bots are low level, former air altar bots. The official world's been zombiefied. 50-50s and private games are the way to go now.

In the case of the penguin bug, you would be correct. It'd be Jagex's fault for not catching it before it was discovered. That bug was easily accessible and obvious. For the world crash, not so much.
-
Developers Console...
A handful of people dedicated to bug hunting found the bug and played with it. The rest of the population in the worlds they crashed were blissfully unaware. I daresay the recent crash is their fault, not Jagex. EDIT: How they found the bug and used it isn't in any way what a "normal" player would do.
-
Developers Console...
Could blame Jagex for not finding the bug first, sure. It's still the players who ganked the worlds offline.
-
Developers Console...
Worlds crashing were due to a bug being abused by players. People have always been lied to in this game. Look how they reverted free trade.
-
Developers Console...
Oh, I don't know about that, since it's a tad difficult to lump the entire playerbase together and state they're unhappy. I think most people are more or less content, with the usual ragging on and complaining over current glaring issues like that dead horse we know called bots and RWT.
-
Developers Console...
They already do this to track some bot users and their mains before banning, I think. Been hearing a few disgruntled ops in that direction.

If you can't accept the possible consequences of your own actions for toying around with what's clearly illegal in their eyes, then why even feel tempted to do this?
