  1. They didn't bother patching the cyclopean helmet to be P2P only. That's a cosmetic item too. Has no stats either. Very good chance they'll do nothing about the hats.
  2. Bahahahahahah! Anyway, maybe they have 300 health each because each one is a pure. They're split into the combat triangle after all. EDIT: Hmm. We might see something along the lines of Trine.
  3. Oh? You played that abomination? DA2 was obviously a cash grab if the roughly one year development time didn't give you a big clue. Not to mention the debacle over how some of the developers were treating their customers, and there was that one pandering review. I'm guessing you know which one. In any case, this dungeoneering update is something to look forward to. It's gotten pretty ugly if the only updates you're looking for are in the patch notes or last week's "in other news."
  4. So, let me get this straight. I compared it to DA:O because this update reminded me of it, and you believe that's a horrible thing to compare it to and totally not because it's something that struck a personal chord with me, and thus gives you the right to be rude and condescending. Hah! At least Grimy has better manners. PS I'd have more fun with UO than BG. And PS:T was the rare game where combat took a backseat to dialogue.
  5. Heh. That's a negative way of looking at it. I've only made the connection because Dragon Age is more or less a recent game, I've played it, and they seem to be lifting a page from that. They could've gone another route. And Jagex always brushes the game with references from popular culture.
  6. Yes, having played that game the comparison struck my fancy. Nothing wrong with that, is there? EDIT: and Dragon Age Origins was point and click.
  7. Whether it's easy or not isn't much of a point since it's all grinding if you're after levels, and I personally don't see much fun in that. From where I stand, any change whether to my benefit or not is good. If nothing changes then the game gets boring. Dungeoneering bots in F2P are devaluing your supposed achievements anyway like in everything else. Meh. Too much to ask for Jagex to do anything about bots in F2P. At least they're following a rough guideline of one F2P update every month or two. Something to hope for, at least. Though the chances the saga update next week having the first part of it for F2P is 50/50 at this rate with Jagex's dubious track record.
  8. Huh. That interface reminds me of a particular game.
  9. Reminds me of some mad inventor bumbling about in a laboratory away from the public eye. They're a few screws loose of a tight ship in Jagex, certainly.
  10. I suppose you've forgotten the innumerable times their newsposts and the KB articles were wrong when dealing with the little details, then. Hell, I certainly have, except I'm quite sure there were such cases. And I'm sure they shortly found out F2P had access to all the tiers. Why then didn't they hotfix it on the spot like they did with other things of this nature? One you could relate to is the dungeoneering exp in F2P. It didn't take them all that long to slash the bloody thing in half out of panic. So, perhaps it's to keep F2P quiet and happy. Do enjoy.
  11. This problem may be fixed, but the loading times mightn't be. Load several areas and there's a lag anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds.
  12. There's practically no way to make money in F2P without butting heads with bots. Mining rune, smelting bars, and playing GOP for water talismans are the only ones I can think of that require no money to start and are relatively fast money. Once you get cash you're either hi-alching or merchanting. Everything else is dirt. These bot busting events are probably going to be more frequent in P2P than F2P. Fat lot of good that'll do. Meh.
  13. That's most cruel and unrefined. -150m. Silly goose. EDIT: So, F2P got the hats, huh. Well that's a bone the lot of you should enjoy especially after the rotten business over those capes. I very much doubt they'll "fix" it at this point. The KB once again lagged behind the release.
  14. Heh. Runetracker statistics below: http://runetracker.org/track-arkhie,0,2
  15. Arkh is Lord Dragont contrary to anything said. Just look at that name change. Foolish really, attempting to seem pure F2P with that hanging over your head. A fumbled cover in appearance, more or less. But what of it? Frown all you want, Shane, but that player still doesn't want to be on the list so it shouldn't matter. Lord Dragont is the clan owner for a social news network subcommunity. (That has recently gone to the dogs because of the Digg exodus, but that's off topic.) It's good to be nice when you want something. Heh.
  16. The doubt comes from the name change, when that shouldn't matter at all when the person in question has no desire to join the list.
  17. Well, well, well. What have we here. A search of that name brings up reddit (hah!) among other things, like a desire not to be tracked because the person feels they're in a competition they didn't sign up for. The majority of those who got high runecrafting through GOP started the hard way during the early years of it. It's certainly better than the mind-numbing back and forth errand running to the altar.
  18. Population prior to the update: 176k Current population: 82k Having a quest requirement for this area is good.
  19. Amusing. Fact: these fools were gloating when Jive got muted. That speaks for itself. J-Mods are supposed to divorce themselves from the players and play incognito to prevent something like this from happening. Mod Dowd could get fired. Bahahhahahahahahaha!
  20. Behold, the wonders of emergent gameplay. Heh. Get the names of the player mods associated with that clan.
  21. Offense is better than defense. I still don't see the platebody as being an efficient bind. And Sonic, I stick with my point that armor can only be useful at bosses - well, a few at the least, such as Sagi and the skeleton horde. By the way, the DGS folk did do an F2P dungeon recently with all combatants, and they finished under 20 minutes. (I think.) I suppose they could repeat that success if they only had 2 combatants and 3 real skillers (that do not afk.)
  22. I'm hardly worried. The argument at hand was about speed. Platebody binds = decrease in run speed and pointless protection. Only time I can see it being used is for the boss. And if you're going to have armor, dump coins for your skillers whenever you home teleport or yell "ggs safe" when a cleared room coincidentally has food and ores. Standing in the middle of a guardian room against level 40-50s using magic, ranged, and melee = amusingly stupid. You'll end up eating more dusk eels than not. I found it faster to isolate a monster or reduce the type of damage I took by getting them stuck around obstacles. I speak from the standpoint of having done a 15-20min large on my own. (Glitched it, the difficulty was the same as a w1/7 dungeon.) EDIT: Try not to confuse my view of efficient combat methods with what I call "fun" on a large scale. Both are apples and oranges to me.
  23. Because it's fun. I find it fun in the same vein I find games like Demon Souls fun. I didn't play it for levels or the experience. I played it for the people I met. As for the gameplay style I chose for dungeoneering, I chose cutthroat speed. I would key to within an inch of my health - and say to hell with it, and keep going and not die. Some even called me a demon, like when I would jump straight into room mazes upon opening the door and finishing with the bars still 3/4 full. Heh. The experiences I relate to you in the previous posts are the experiences of when I was still hosting the Dragoons some months ago. I neglected p2p and instead played this in f2p since day one until the time I got bored of it and started preparing for the release of free trade. In that timespan I reached 100. But what does that matter? It's nothing to someone like me. That's not why I play. The time I spent with the Dragoons entertained me greatly. Hell, I can't remember the number of times some of them started competing with each other for most number of deaths by suiciding the floor. (Cyborg, Angel, I'm looking at you!) Or teasing newcomers with rumors like the "don't kill dinos!" flake, or the false belief level 3s touching the monolith lowered the chance of spawning high level shades. Don't know if some of the rumors we made are still floating around though. Accepting one or two strangers into the current floor's team changed the pace instead of the bland, same-y rhythm I found to a floor in w61. I doubt you'll understand where I'm coming from, but I enjoyed playing with my companions centered around surviving in w1/w7. Evidently you play for the levels. I play for the company I encounter.
  24. I most certainly will.
  25. Your ranged is pretty weak, Sonic. Undoubtedly the melee/magic combo would be better far more effective for you since you haven't yet experienced what 99 or 90+ ranged can do. And I eventually found it easier to dodge the Forger's green goo and keep ranging instead of using the spear and taking on heavy damage. Speaking of Nightgazer, I used to lure that thing closer to the door by teleporting outside a second before it stuns. Heheheh. Great fun to kill off the melee combatants nearby. While it's certainly true melee is more effective on the cursebearer, take into consideration melee stats. Those with unbalanced stats end up missing more often if they've a lower attack. The point with icefiend is that you can kill it even at 100+ level with only a couple of dusk eels using the beeline walk method. You do not tank, you do not run. You walk. It's very useful if there's little food to be had. Hell, the whole point of range is to be able to hit from anywhere while keeping the enemy out of arm's reach. I'd rather snipe the plane-freezer than risk being shoved around. I just aim, go off the computer for some tea, and tada! It's dead. A large floor icy bones hits 200+ damage hard and often. Gods, I can't remember the number of times I've laughed when some overconfident fools deride him and say, "he's easy!"
