  1. My idea of death would be to lose everything. Let me emphasize it again. Everything. Not your levels, sure, but all your carried items if they weren't protected/blessed/cursed. Then you could reduce the penalties of death by tying it to the game lore through which of the many gods you, the player, choose to align with if you visited certain churches or ruins. But that would never happen. Yea, I concede your point that it was pretty bad before MMG allowed the removal of certain things like gnomecopters, and what's happening now and recently as light pokes, but I'm thinking it won't be long before we go back to those bad old days altogether, one small update at a time. Put a frog in boiling water and it'll hop out, put it in lukewarm water then slowly raise the temperature and hey presto! boiled frog. As for that luring scam, it'd be entirely the player's fault if they fell for it. But this is Jagex, after all. Some handholding is normal. If they allowed you to keep all items when you die then this game would become far too easy and trivializes death. If you thought suicide bots were bad, wait till you encounter suicides at bosses. Just running in over and over. Hell, you wouldn't even need food or pots.
  2. Thought it was funny when I saw members wearing dragon items achoppin in f2p... Also I didn't know the evil tree was so... sexy. It's about as bad as the "you are now entering the member's zone" pop-up when you complete a bronze sword request from Aksel in the workshop. Expect to see more of these p2p intrusions on what is supposedly a complete and separate game in the future, way things are going. EDIT: as for the death mechanics being revised, say hello to "casual."
  3. Members chopping down hawthorn trees in F2P. If that isn't advertising member's content a la gnomecopter style, then I don't know what is. Just reinforces the view that F2P is a demo. Heh. Oh, and did I mention non-members only get 1/2 of the holiday event? Attempting to get the ice crown is for p2p only. Such a pity.
  4. This is close to those Prince of Nigeria scam emails, but it's not quite there. Yet.
  5. Sounds to me like he wants a non-rush dungeon clan because his idea of "fun" is killing dead end monsters. Nothing wrong with that, I've worked with that kind of folk before, but an outlook like that wouldn't fit the DGS clan. Seems like they're more focused on completing floors as fast as possible because to them it is fun. I'll bet more than a few get an adrenaline rush from finishing a floor below 20min. Heh. Unfortunately, the kind of people he's looking for are scarce. Unless you consider w117. A place like that is every person for themselves and damn everything else. DGS wouldn't be the place for you Brad, unless you decide to reconsider your idea of fun.
  6. I take it you mean how the clan camp is only used by players to get their fancy new capes and not really intending to make a clan. How, out of all those 33,000+ or so clans that have been made, there are probably less than a thousand you could consider actual clans. It may look as if Jagex is forcing player interaction, no?
  7. If only this happened to bots now:
  8. Heh. There's that too.
  9. You said in a few days, and that the tracker might be glitched. I am going by the assumption that it IS glitched and she no-lifed the last level for those few days. I brought up the question of membership because it's been heavily suspected before. The only way to get proof someone is member and just masquerading as pure F2P is whether or not the log says "non-member" or "private" in which case only member friends can see it. EDIT: if she was a member, then you missed your chance to confirm it.
  10. And you didn't bother to check the adventurer's log to see if it said it's private and not the usual for member's only. I see where this is going. At a rate of 45k-50k experience every 30min with 1 other combatant and 3 skillers, you can gain 90-100k exp per hour. Multiply that by 16 hours assuming a no-life playstyle and 8 hours of sleep, 1.4-1.6m exp a day. At that rate it'll be anywhere from 6-7 days for roughly 10m experience. Which makes sense to me, considering how a level 3 with heavy support can power level to 92 dg in about 2 week's time. Now, if that were 45-50k exp every 20-25min, the exp gain rate is roughly 2.4m a day top speed. So in 4-5 days = 10m exp. EDIT: it's even faster when dungeons are completed at 15min. I suspect this is one of the factors as to why Jagex will not remove the F2P experience cap.
  11. The clan camp is particularly helpful to those with the ambition to start off a new clan with their closest friends. Mind, clans in Runescape are more like families than they are guilds and this update helps formalize such a family by giving it an official appearance. This update doesn't really translate into clans lasting for a bloody long time, however. The qualities that would assure longevity all hinge on what kind of folk are in the clan. I agree on Kimberly's point that shining a spotlight on a clan may very well prove its undoing. Things can get a bit ... wonky, when a clan gets too large or is expected to uphold a certain reputation.
  12. Is that true? Because at that rate it would be $4-9 for a billion gp...that doesn't even seem worth the hassle of selling it. its obvious that he tried to say 90 to 40 cents or just $0.9 to $0.4 per million Yea, apologies for the confusion. And FYI, I'm a woman. I find it amusing that RWT prices were much, much higher in the past than compared to now.
  13. Welcome to the club. Not that it'll do much anyway - voting with your money, that is - but it's the principle of the thing, no? And in other news: Current RWT prices are stabilized at anywhere from 0.9 cents to 0.4 cents per million gp. It's gone down since 2007 from $5. Bot operators are disgruntled that prices are going down due to too much gold in the economy, driving their gold prices down. Several are in favor of a culling. At least one botter/RWTer brags about pushing 1b gp daily. Opinion on the current bot busting spree: PR event. As for where I'm getting all this, do your own digging. It can be searched.
  14. That's not much of a hassle. This doesn't work at Aubury's by the way. and i think we are doing more good than harm ;) and 1 second, well even less, to right click aint to much to ask :) I couldn't care less about doing more good, it's the griefing opportunities this presents that tickles me so.
  15. What I'm getting from all this: The main site needs updating since it appears outdated compared to what's in - or what was in - AOW. Some sort of (volunteer based or dedicated?) check for H&A. The moving around of certain threads when they could be left alone to die gives off RSOF vibes. Retired players are out of touch with newer things in the game and some of them hold high ranks in here. That's a questionable point. Folk need to learn manners. On both sides. Leaders/admins/mods mustn't ever sink to insults since they hold the high ground and are held by unseen high standards. (When the hell did that happen?) And delicious internet drama. Have some Lackadaisy cats.
  16. That's not much of a hassle. This doesn't work at Aubury's by the way.
  17. Meant to put this up a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAWMXf1RQ70 Enjoy.
  18. So what? I'm sure a better and more comprehensive one can be written by the original author elsewhere. Just that this place won't have the benefit of showcasing it. Heh.
  19. Why not move? Objectively speaking, with the new clan features out you lot in DGS haven't any need to keep the thread on your dungeoneering clan in H&A any longer. When you look at it at a certain angle, you've your own forums and such now, why not use what Jagex provided for you? Granted it might be a schism, but there's been worse in past - I believe it's been mentioned how a majority of the clans moved out of Tip.it. Sometimes you just have to say adieu.
  20. This, a thousand times.
  21. Heh, fancy meeting you here. I haven't kept in touch with anyone except a handful of people in F2P. I doubt I'll come back to the clan as you knew me anyway. That aside, take care of everyone. It's up to you lot now whether the clan stays put or falls apart. Have fun, and godspeed.
  22. Thumbs down. They could do better.
  23. Would the "efficient" players sum up their gameplay style in a sentence or two? I'm curious. Mine is hardly what you'd consider efficient. Get a boatload of cash in the least amount of time possible, then pour all that money into buying 99s using the fastest training methods with the least amount of clicking. Same goes for gathering skills minus the coin if I wanted to max out everything. That means all AFK/semi-AFK methods are good for me. How about you?
  24. Be careful by what you mean as best. The word can be relative. Going by the quoted statement, botting is efficient. Why? You save time in real life by otherwise letting a robot do all the mundane things, leaving you more time to do what you want IRL. It would also be the best method for gaining cash. (There's one operator in the great orb project guild right now who has earned close to 100m+ from botting multiple accounts on w61. I'd say he doesn't do more than check his things for a few minutes.) In this way, botters see themselves as efficient. You might want to revise how you go about arguing this and instead say you find it fun to be efficient in the game because you like figuring out the mechanics of it i.e. drop tables, and not because it is the best and therefore the only way to play right.
  25. I agree. Let's kindly keep real-life from intruding on Runescape in a negative fashion. Same goes for microtransactions, except when it comes to untradeable cosmetic items that do nothing to affect the game except make your avatar look pretty, or are exclusive to a community event. (That mess over flagstaffs, if anyone remembers.) That I wouldn't mind much. More fools parted of their gold is good for Jagex.
