  1. Hemlock and nightshade. I want to swallow Control.
  2. Being human, sometimes I catch myself begging for something to aid me. Then I stop myself, and remind myself that success isn't worth anything if I get help--divine or otherwise. And then I get down to whatever I have to do. And stand secure in the knowledge that my victories and failures are to my credit alone.
  3. I'd like the type of girl who'd slap me for regimenting the type of girl I'd like.
  4. Punches devolving into hooks devolving into elbows devolving into headbutts--all as you get closer to the opponent. All from multiple angles: Punches: Straight, cross, karate-style hook-- Hooks: Left, right, uppercuts Elbows: Smacking them using rotation of the hip, or stabbing them in an odd reverse-punch Headbutts: Okay, not much variety here. If they recoil you close the distance with a backhand or something. I have basic martial training in Tae Kwon Do and Karate, and have practiced strikes extensively, but I don't follow the martial forms. I like the more relaxed Krav Maga stance a lot more. If the opponent is stupid enough to make their torso vulnerable, just go with a powerful side-kick to wind them. But I agree: the best technique is not to fight at all. Unless its just for fun with friends.
  5. Good first venture into the postmodernist style.
  6. Guess I gotta be the first on a solo trip to the moon and back to beat these guys.
  7. Kill myself. Just to free myself from the inexplicable timetable my life has been set on. Would be in a fun way--pay the Russians to take me up into space, and brave re-entry with a spacesuit. No parachute. I'd be that burning gash in the sky--one you'd make a wish upon. I'd become a fleck of dust, blown off one of your old books. Or perhaps the first snowflake that you taste, as you step outside your doors.
  8. My brother got the Marine Corp. symbol tattood onto his chest where it would be if he was wearing formal uniform. Looks pretty damned cool, actually.
  9. So, number 5 is [hide=]Time.[/hide]
  10. [hide=]Forum Username: EdgedThesis Age:16 Nation: I live in Kuwait Educational level: 11th grade. Want to study either Astrophysics, or a package of Cognitive Sciences, Neurosciences, Psychology, and Philosophy. 1. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion? Yeah. -by choice? Yes. -What kind of worship? Islamic and Hindu. -Did you regularly attend this worship, by choice or parental guidance? No. 2. Do you consider yourself religious? Not at all. Even if there was a God, I wouldn't feel the need to worship him. 3. Is there a god, gods, or a supreme deity? Perhaps there is a God. And God is designated as such by his act of creation, yes? 4. Is there an afterlife? Perhaps. If there was some immaterial part of our personalities, a 'soul', we wouldn't be able to examine it, and so any quick conclusions would be ignorant on my part. 5. How do you believe that existence came about? (in a nutshell) A series of random events, occurring in an eternal universe beset by constantly changing physical rules and matter; the dynamics stemming from randomly shifting quantum particles and energies. 6. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion that you do not consider yourself a part of? -What? Islamic and Hindu. -Your thoughts on the experience: Was educational. 7. What are your thoughts on non Judeo-Christian Western religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. ...They are all based on necessarily blind faith, and so are all essentially the same. 8. What are your thoughts on Judeo-Christian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term and that both of these groups have many subdivisions that have radically different beliefs and practices. Religions that have probably survived and spread because the concept of a God existing outside the universal structure is completely immune to scientific disproof. 9. What are your thoughts on Asian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. None. Buddhism seems great, when stripped of the trans-life beliefs they possess. 10. What are your thoughts on African religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. I am ignorant of their ways, and so do not have any thoughts. 11. What are your thoughts on South American religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Not enough knowledge to provide useful thoughts. 12. What are your thoughts on Aboriginal religions (any native group that was displaced, such as Native Americans, Maori, Aborigines, etc)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. The general theme of 'harmonizing with nature' is a beautiful concept. Though I like it more when the names of spirits and gods are removed and replaced with human conviction. 13. What are your thoughts on pagan religions (Wiccan, alternative, Satanic, and other non-traditional forms of worship)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Also note that many alternative and pagan practices are not affiliated with Satanic worship. No thoughts. 14. What are your thoughts on atheism, the belief that there is no supreme being(s)? Please remember that there are degrees to this belief, and that not all share the same thoughts. As ignorant as straight-up theism. We simply cannot know. 15. What are your thoughts on agnosticism, the belief that a supreme being(s) exists, but the individual chooses not to worship it/them (or if one is unsure if a supreme being exists, but does not outright deny its existence)? Seems reasonable. 16. Have you ever publicly chastised someone who believes in a religion/school of thought different than yours? No. Though I've had many a good discussion. 17. If you belong to a religion or non-religion, please identify. Agnosticism. -Did you consciously choose to follow this belief? Yes. -Did you belong to another belief, by choice or force, before following this belief? Yes. -Did you personally research (as in personally in the first person) options before coming to this belief? Yes. 18. Is intelligence (not IQ, but actual intelligence) correlated to one's belief in a religion or non-religion? Keep in mind that intelligence can not be measured by any science, this is simply your judgment call. Religion does not dumb down a mind, but those of weak mind may be easily bent by religious preachers and turn to religion. This may cause some sort of correlation. 19. Does religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. It can, yes. There are several religion-backed charities I have seen, though I do not remember their names. My Arabic is rusty, and I don't think I could even find them on the web. 20. Does non-religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. It is a step towards global unity. Just the prospect seems good. And personally, I am fueled to do good things with the belief that no God is watching over me, because I feel I have complete freedom and all of my deeds come from within. 21. Does religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. It sometimes can. I have seen several violent outbreaks occur due to difference in belief. Of course, it is human nature to scorn what they view as different, and this may be no different than conflicts of skin color or language. 22. Does non-religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. I cannot see how. Maybe adamant atheists would terrorize the publicly religious? Perhaps it can. 23. Please list your experience with sexual education, including but not limited to: lectures by parents, schools, religion, or non-education. Please do not list your sexual experiences. Romps through the internet, Kama Sutra, parental lectures, and school classes. 24. Have you engaged in sexual intercourse of any kind? Please do not list your sexual experiences. A yes or no will suffice. No. 25. What, in your opinion, defines "love?" An emotional bond linking one being to another. Empathy in purest form. 26. Have you ever been in, or are now in, a relationship? No. 27. Are you single/committed relationship/married? Single. 28. What, in your opinion, is sex's place in a relationship (or lack of relationship)? Its there to fulfill needs. In a serious relationship, it can bind two people together--not just their bodies, but their minds. It is the unification of two. 29. Have you ever partaken in an illicit substance (excluding alcohol or marijuana)? No. -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of an illicit substance? No 30. Have you ever partaken in marijuana? No, though I am arguing with my parents and trying to get them to allow me to. 31. Have you ever partaken in the consumption of alcohol? No. 32. Have you ever regretted a sexual encounter? N/A 33. Have you ever regretted using an illicit substance? (excluding hangovers) N/A 34. Have you ever regretted using alcohol? (excluding hangovers) N/A 35. Have you ever given serious thought (longer than 30 minutes in a year) to the existence of a supreme being(s)? Every single day.[/hide] I hope your quest for knowledge goes well.
  11. You're being guided through blackness, and sat down on an awkward chair. The toes of your feet bend upwards and the weight of your body rests on your muscles--acid burns at your nerves as you struggle to remain upright. The black sack is removed from your head, but the return of sight offers little comfort. Bright light plays across your eyeballs, the strobe effect inducing a strange, innate discomfort. A discordant array of sounds begins to play in the background, the sound of screeching chalkboards and off-tune guitar strings scratching against your eardrum. You hear a whisper tell you that you are going to die. Your muscles give out, and you fall upon sensitive pressure pads. Blunt hammers swing against your kneecaps and shunt them out of place. The bone bulges out and your skin tightens around what look like dual tumors. Wooden stakes follow, piercing into the soft flesh left vulnerable by brute force. Your scream is ignored. You are going to die. You try and close your eyes against the light, and your lids are taken from you. They are ripped forcefully by human strength and the sharp edge of human nail. The blood does little to filter the pulsating brightness. You feel cold steel against the skin of your back. A tool. A scalpel. The begin to slice, a slow sawing motion sending jolts of calculated pain into your torture mind. You feel physically drained as the blood seeps from your back, and as your lungs are pulled from the bloody slits. The feeling of wet sponge touches your skin every time you breathe. Devil's wings. And as Satan does, you will burn. You smell yourself cooking before the sensation of being charred alive even registers. The disgustingly sweet walnut smell of burnt human meat wafts towards your nose, even as you realize your arms are falling off. A figure swirls around your smoking figure, and lifts your chin. It removes a bloody glove from one hand and drops it, using a naked hand to remove its mask. Your mother whispers: 'I never loved you.' Just before she opens the trap door under your mangled knees, laughing as you fall towards a pool of rotting sewage. This is where you will drown.
  12. Your consciousness and choice is given by a series of chemical responses to internal and external stimuli. And on the quantum level, there is uncertainty of particle and wave behavior. Things are everywhere and nowhere at once. However these particles take up definite state when a conscious viewer observes them either directly or with a camera. The uncertain states of the chemo-electrical reactions you call thoughts may very well be made certain by an outside, godlike being.
  13. You're flexing e-penis just as much as he is. Get out. *flex* We could all do with some Kegel exercises. Everyone, now!
  14. No, tell them that you think you are gay, and that the only way to really find out is to watch two hours of Megan Fox running around while checking if you get aroused. Then they'd force you to go watch. Or, alternatively, they'd force you to watch pornography as they check if you get aroused. A choice between getting away with everything and watching porn with your parents. Seem like a good plan? I think so.
  15. That isn't manning up, though. That's ignoring what you feel is a moral problem. Thread-starter is a good person indeed--someone who wishes to fix whatever he can fix. Though he doesn't share my views, I find his will to take action commendable.
  16. Join us, Salad. The Pirate way of life is dirty and dangerous--but you will be handsomely paid in digital data dubloons, snatches of this album and pieces of that movie. I understand that your principles are clear...but you have stumbled upon an entire hive of us. Which will it be, Salad? Your outdated principles? Or the chance to sail a sea of truly free information? Arr.
  17. "I will BREAK you!" "No, Bane. It's time I break you."
  18. Imagine reclining in a lawn chair in the middle of space, with three-dimensional visualizations forming around you as you listen to Bonobo. I had the music playing as I went to sleep, haha.

    Today...

The sacrifice of your non-douchiness for half naked beauties... Your transformation has already begun.
  20. A military strike from an external source would be robbing the people of their power. No, I want the people of Iran to handle this with their own voices. Their own hands.
  21. Thanks for all the updates, everyone. Damn it, I want to be there right now. I want to be there, upon a rooftop and amongst the noise--shouting: DOWN WITH THE DICTATOR! DOWN WITH THE DICTATOR!
  22. No... he'd be a heterosexual man who'd rather his mirror neurons be stimulated by the sight of naked women having sex than by the sight of naked men having sex. Impulsively yes, he would shout encouragement at a lesbian duo going at it. In principle, I'd like to think he'd say 'no'. If not, then yes, your diagnosis of his personality traits would be correct.
  23. Well barbed wire certainly looks cooler. That doesn't help, I just wanted to say that.
