  1. Good for training at places such as giant spider (lvl50) I know some people use it in clan wars but they usually just make for a fun dds target to be honest :D I know some people use it in combination with a GS and piety at waterfiends and so forth as well. Overall the range helm is the most versatile by far.
  2. Well i was thinking of doing it on strength xp for the sake of it lol, i don't actually need any, mainly because i will be gaining str xp if i camp at fiends for 99 summ after, all that will amount to quite a pile  I might consider using a gs on abby demons, even with 99 att i often miss a lot with whip+defender
  3. Thanks for the replies, I guess i'll get both the ss and gs... I might do some testing of xp rates when I do. About the shield issue: I use duradel and as far I remember he doesn't give any tasks that require a shield other than dragons. :P If he does i'll cry a lot before going to be a d scim.
  4. I'm thinking of getting 99 slayer, gaining strength xp, later this year and so I was wondering if anyone knew which had better xp rates: The SS or GS. :?: I'm aware it may depend on the task as well. thanks.
  5. These are great updates which should contribute to making RS that little bit less tedious. But by the way I have noticed you can now say "[wagon]" (the American spelling) But not "arse", the way it is spelled elsewhere. Not particularly important but maybe they would like to change it?
  6. I gotta say my fondest memories are back in 05 when castle wars was new. At the time it was probably my favorite aspect of runescape and i wasn't concerned that I wasn't gaining a lot of experience. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed being a newb  And of course more recently all my 99s have been great!
  7. Really great guide, mate. Hopefully this will teach those who have gone as far to say magic shouldn't be classed as a combat skill! \ anyway thanks for the guide it was very informative!
  8. About the new high leveled Armour and weapons- we already have them in the form of god swords and bandos amour, the DFS, along with a problem of one and two hit knock outs in PVP. I reckon god swords should really have needed 90+ attack and strength to wield in the first place. But assuming jagex WILL, sooner or later bring out stronger weapons they are going to need to abandon the 99 structure for hitpoints or else bring out a skill (or maybe an add-on to agility) allowing you to dodge your opponents attack, somewhat lessening the damage you take; thus preventing some of the more spectacular knockouts.
  9. I like the idea of the eastern lands though I suppose your access to them would largely depend on the completion of certain quest story lines. If the eastern lands were to open up a new skill or high-leveled slayer monster I would be really peeved if i couldn't access either because I hadn't completed a whole series of tedious quests. Like so many i would also appreciate a new skill-so long as it isn't another money burner :wall: New ways to make money, focusing the bigger picture in an effort to make skilling in general a viable source of steady income. I would prefer an all round effort to restore skilling than having one update effectively introduce the GWD of skills. Someone also said earlier they would like to see the graphics of NPS and characters improved. Personally I think the body shapes of characters need to be made more realistic, as well as the outfits- for example the boots of lightness now look stupid, squashed down and square and a lot of female players still have a tough time finding a good outfit for their character. :|
  10. Absolutely awsome guide, I would love 99 slayer myself but I'm not sure I could stick at it for 3/4 of a year even though the rewards are great :wall: . There was one thing I noticed, you said that prayer was ESSENTIAL for abberent spectres. I suppose this may be the case in the smoke dungeon owing to the fact it's multi-way but it certainly isn't in the slayer tower. I take around 30 pineapple pizzas, carrying 18 in my tortoise, I wear black dragonhide and have only 71 magic, yet they don't hit too hard. You coud also use a bunyip instead of a war tortoise and supplement the healing effect with food but persoanlly i prefer the extra loot per trip the tortoise offers. On average I can kill 100+ before banking using this method.
  11. skills like prayer and con are by NO MEANS some of the easiest! Some people have mentioned that getting the money should not actually be included as part of "getting the skill" itself. Maybe it isn't in some respects but you are getting the money FOR the skill, without the money, you cannot level it and getting the money, egg, 100m for prayer, 100-200m for con IS exeptionally difficult for the majority of runescape players. You and your brother must be exeptionally small-minded, if either of you happen to have 99 cooking/some other easy-ish skill how about you make 99 construction/prayer your next goal \
  12. I had a slightly different idea, I believe skill capes should give bonuses in accordance to the skills they belong to, for example the stength cape could give +4 to strength, +4 wouldn't be much good for the defence cape, so how about a bonus +12 added onto the capes original defence bonus. Combat capes would-be bonuses are pretty straight forwards, so now for non-combat skills: fishing: increases catch rates of various fish cooking: increases cooking rate/decreases likelyhood of burning construction:i dunno TBH lol RC: craft bonus runes depending on how many you would originally made in total say, bonus=20% of total. slayer: Slayer hood gains the same bonuses as a slayer mask when worn in tandom with the cape. I hope these ideas aren't too stupid. :D
  13. Difficulty of obtaining 99s, is in my opinion based on the a number of factors, i.e,amount of clicking, cost, and perhaps most of all, TIME. Other factors include how much attention it requires-some skills you can afk and with others it's out of the question. Someone said no 99s are really hard work, well the ones that require a lot of clicking really can be, eg. hunter, prayer-trust me, the clicking can take its toll. I see time as a huge factor because, for most of us runescape must take a back-seat while we work/go to school, etc. Thus when I see someone with a rune crafting cape it means much more than a cooking/thieving cape as these skills take comparably little time to max.
  14. Honestly, safing is simply a tactic; in F2P i acknowledge it is stupid seeing as the max hit isn't far above 30 but in P2P the hits are simply getting too high. I know from personal experience that once you get into the 120s you aren't even safe for long on full hp, two specs with an AGS can knock over 140hp off you. As far as P2P goes i think "safing" is justifiable, it's the full-time pkers that need to grow up, if they can't deal with some "noob" preventing himself from dying then is PVP really for them? In reality i think we need more hitpoints or an ad-on to agility that allows us to partially avoid blows, resulting in a weakened hit. Oh, and i forgot to mention i was continuously getting called a safer on my low level range pker by obby maulers hitting 26s at lvl 34.. i had 40 hp. Well really, how is that safing- all it is is STAYING ALIVE. I might add i had 33 successful kills that day before I died once.
  15. Really good guide mate, I had no idea where to start hunter. The guide itself was really informative (other than past 63) but it is labeled as a beginners guide after all . The guide was also presented really well, 9/10!
  16. saying that melee has reached a dead end is taking it too far. Maybe in PVP the god swords to dominate perhaps a little too much. However, ancients can counter it... they freeze their opponent : opponent now cannot attack them: ancient mage continues to blast 30s... People carrying a seercull can relinquish themselves from this trap but it's a pretty useless pking weapon in itself. Another option would be to introduce new, HP increasing armors. Assuming melee has come to far-too quickly in regard to PVP it may, in my opinion still flourish in other areas. The monsters in RS don't have feelings, they won't decide they want to quit one day because they keep dieing. In short they will always be there to kill and players will want to kill them faster and more efficiently. Jagex seem to be focusing a lot on boss monsters, eg; godwars, corporal beast, Jad etc. With stronger monsters we will need stronger equipment to make the fight balanced. Now i come to think of it though, if we get monsters hitting higher than Jad (97-98) we're inevitably going to either need a higher HP cap or HP boosting armors... :wall: I don't really like the idea of increasing the level cap, especially to 199, the level gaps at this stage would be >50m each level and it would not be viable for 99% of the community to even GET 50m xp ONCE on one skill. Alternatively jagex could make it so agility acts like another defensive stat, enabling you to dodge and weave away from your opponents attacks, like it is in many other games. They could also release a martial art, even though this has proved to be a controversial topic. RS3 sounds kind of cool although I'd want it to have better graphics to make it worth starting over, better gameplay etc. etc. I am all too away some of my idea's contradict one another...just so you know :D
  17. Your suggestion is ridiculous. Jagex would not do this, it would make tons of people quit, the wilderness update would be NOTHING compared to this. Jagex would not do this to eliminate RWT as it would destroy the game more than RWT does or has every done. it would probably bring the end of runescape and i can not see it happening. They took out the wilderness and gave the pkers replacements, even though they could have just left them high and dry and continued to profit. Furthermore they are now releasing pvp worlds where you can pk everywhere which should be far better than the old wildy. Hounestly, im sure that if it came to it, if RWT was causing havoc to runescape jagex could combat it in much less invasive and probably more effective ways. If real world trading is if you say, alive and well today then there shouldn't be any need for more drastic measures such as you have suggested. Runescape is still functionable and enjoyable!
  18. it all depends on your levels, what your doing, eg. boss hunting, questing or pvp. Magic is definately not underpwoered, ancients own warriors and with the right strategy can still defeat rangers. I still like melee but all three atack styles have pretty much evened out over time with the introduction of things like ancients, better xbows and bolts which do insane damage. Melee is still exeptionally powerful when you max out your stats. All in all its how you use it that matters.
  19. i'm a scimitar person through and through. The dragon longsword's strength bonus (+5 over scimmy) only adds about one damage to your max hit. The scimmy is a bit faster, which adds up a lot over time, especially if your not killing something with extrordinarily high defence. As for the controlled "advantage" most people would use a whip for this which is far better than either scimmy or long full stop. Scimitar wins for me
  20. I'll take a guess that it's going to be a "dragon slayer 2" kind of thing. On their Jagex website they have leaked the artwork for the dragon platebody. We're up to mithril dragons currently, so maybe you have to slay an adamant dragon to complete the quest? Currently there are some stairs you cannot climb where the mithril dragons are, perhaps a small part of the quest will be getting past these stairs? Or, of course I could be completely wrong (I probably am) Jagex seem to be laying so many possible trails its hard to follow- or maybe I'm just being paranoid. :)
  21. I used to play high detail on the computer in my study without problems but old high detail on the one in my bedroom because the fps was slowing up. Now I have a knew computer in the study though and the old (but good one) in my room so now i play high detail with full features including anti aliasing times 4 on the new one. I rarely play in full screen, opting instead for the more practical re sizable window so i can browse other sites.
  22. I think I tend to lean towards the scientific approach. If I am embarking on a major goal, for example 99 strength, the one I am currently working on as I type i will want to know roughly how much XP I will gain an hour. As for methods, I prefer to chose the fastest means of a achieving a goal while I still enjoy it. So far I have gained nearly 4 million strength XP at the giant spiders(level 50) and although these may be dull to kill if thats all you are doing this isn't the case for me because I do any number of other things at the same time. I treat Runescape as a hobby the same as I do athletics. and my reasoning is very similar- the training may not be enjoyable but the rewards are.
