  1. Well, there do is something that disappoints me with the recent quests and it is the lack of creativity. And with creativity I mean things like using a seagull with a selfmade cannon to get the attention of a prisoner (yeah, you get the link). During NR we just see some pillars, we need to move/rotate them, and that's it, no broken parts to fix, no statues to be sculpt, some unexpected things to overcome during the pillar puzzle. Just take a look at Haunted Mine, we manage about 6 mining tracks, just to get an illuminating mushroom into a dark room, so we could proceed through the mines. In Nomad's Requiem, we give some shots at a handle and BOOM, another arcane powerstation down. Same for the room with the elemental beings that you had to get under the little waterfall. Ok, you had to mine away some rubble and change the waterflow a bit in the other room, but for the rest it was just taking some fuel and bait it. Instead they could have made it so that you had to tear down the fuel machine in some way, or at least had to take some effort to get to the fuel. I can say the same about the Piety room, just get some slabs which you can find within a minute with the sole effort of running down the place. Oh yeah, and we send a fire blast to some explosive barrels that are just standed right next to the precious powerstation... Instead of making it a bit difficult for us... Yeah, the fight was good, and the quest has set us on a new track in the RuneScape history, but I see a lot of missed chances, not only in this quest, but in most new quests in general.
  2. Am I the only one who finds the mod's name funny? :P
  3. They look weird  That's just what they look like while you fish them with your hands: I was thinking, "Aww man, this is another of those hints that will only make sense after the content comes out, because we don't have enough information to solve it yet..." Then I went back and looked up future update clues. Maybe it's this? I'd be psyched for a new pirate quest if that's what it is. I'm thinking about this one, and that it has a tie-in with the fishing guild, but that's just because we got info about both at about the same time.
  4. We've only found out that on the first page, that that might be the meaning. :P
  5. I tried that he went back to full health after calling me a coward... never got to that stage ever since  You have to move towards him so he can hit you every time he says "Face me", otherwise that happens indeed. Offtopic: slayer monsters seem so dull now after a week Nomad-killing. XD
  6. Or maybe the bgs is just that important? Seems to me this fight basically is a race -- can you do enough damage to him before you run out of healing? If the bgs spec knocks his defense down enough so that you do a lot more damage, this could make all the difference in the world. I did it without a bgs. Whip and ruby bolts(e) FTW! But I do think that the bgs spec might really turn the battle in your favor. Well, thank you Storm. :P And about the race, it actually was one, my only problems before this were the shortage of food (except my second attempt, had auto retaliate on, so when I ran out the minefield...). The BGS had lowered the defence of Nomad with 41 I think so I could hit through him like a knife through butter and could make it into a quick fight. All those attempts before that were long, very long, until I just ran out of pots. This is what I guess the biggest problem for most non-maxed people. So I bring this advice to anyone still having trouble: lend a BGS, bring some ruby bolts (e) and you can whack Nomad away. Also worth noting, during the berserk stage you can trap Nomad at the pillars, he takes in 2 squares, so all you got to do is get him so that he get's stuck at a pillar where you are standing. As the pillar is 2 squares deep, you can range him there without any risk at the second square. Only thing you must not forget is that he says "Face me" every other attack, so best is do a ranged attack, than switch to a melee weapon, deal one hit, retreat one square back, range again or eat and repeat. This is very helpful for those who are very short on supplies at that stage.
  7. Sorry for the double post, but I'm just too happy. Turned out a friend of mine bought his BGS back just so I could borrow it. AAAND succes. And look at those untouched pots. :o
  8. Meleeing, ranging, hybriding, tried almost everything I can do at my levels, except a godsword and a rubber chicken. Would be great if I could get my hands on a BGS, for the special, but all 3 of my friends with an BGS sold them during this week... Try using void, and sipping a super set/eating a rocktail at the bank before you go down. Also, whip + defender worked better for me than a z spear. Tried whip and defender in the beginning, wasn't really worth the effort for me and zammy spear stabbing works really fine (most of the times). But there is one thing I'm still wondering about, at the 2nd option of zammy spear I also hitted greatly, so maybe another weapon with a great bonus to that kind of attack would also be a possibility. Guess I'll have to reborrow a zammy spear to check out it's name, as I forgot it.
  9. Fury, firecape, barrow gloves, warrior (i), black d'hide/void set, d boots/snakeskin boots and as weapons I tried things with 1)whip, ruby(e), broad 2)zammy spear and ruby(e), tried different spec weapons, but none were very efficient. I use an inv full of 11 super restores, rest brews and a tortoise full of brews. @Max, considering my many deaths I'm a bit uncomfortable with barrowsitems, because they break if I die, which pushes my costs also up.
  10. I use piety, I repot every time healing is needed and I take the necessary sips from my sup restores. I go hide for the 75, if I need severe healing, I hide, I never hit the lava bombs, attack the last attacking Nomad between his clones, I have a tortoise filled with 18 brews, got ruby (e), zammy spear for stabbing, semi-trap Nomad during the berserk mode (at the picture above you can see where I'm getting out of the spot so he wouldn't tele away). Really, I'm doing it the way everyone it is doing, with the only exception that I fail in the end. XD Another theory is that Jagex really hates me. XD Rejected all my letters to the Postbag (I've written a ton of them), my drops at monsters are to be counted on one hand (won't sum it up, it's too sad :P) and the removal of the gnome copters, my favourite transportation. Just joking, but meh, it does make me a little bit sad. :P

  12. It's more the two last trips I'm so cranky about. But yeah, this also annoyed me, already like 5-10 times that I got him at that HP.
  13. Ok, wtf is going on. After my 3rd last trip today, I got him nearly dead. But the two trips after that, I didn't hit A SINGLE DAMAGE on him, never... Really, what is happening, my tortoise was the only thing who got about 30hp of him before I ran out of pots. Now you are going to say "yeah, but you didn't drank your super restores, so your att and str would probably be extremely low". Well guess what, it wasn't, I always do 3 sips brew, 1 sip restore and I check my stats every now and then. I'm really getting fed up by it, wasted 7.5m on pots, torts, bolts and rocktails on this Nomadbeast, had more than 70 trips to kill him, yet I can't get him killed. And because of this unfinished quest, I can barely do anything on RuneScape longer for half an hour before I want to try to complete it again... So I guess this means a break for me...
  14. Relative to other bosses, he's very difficult, but overall he isn't hard (RS doesn't allow a lot of skilled fights because its basically clicking). It just takes a lot of focus, and brews  And don't forget luck, more than 50 trips down now, 6m down the drain, still not completed. Managed to get him one time with just rocktails from just a dead Nomad, but now with brews, I don't get any further, take too much damage. When he berserks against me, I get hit 20's every second, while most only get hit a 20 now and then. All luck, those hits...
  15. Yeah, the story isn't logical. We are just looking for what's happening beneath Soul Wars and suddenly we decide to kill Nomad. Well, next time, if I enter the basement of Evil Dave, I guess I also have to get rid of him, just for the sake because his basement isn't normal. I'm still trying to find ways to kill Nomad, already wasted 4.5M on supplies and I lost count on how many attempts I did. One day, I hope someone else does the dirty work for us in a quest, we've been the little toy that does everything for everyone for more than 150 quests... God, I love the day I could send Cook to kill the Corporeal Beast or something, because he stole my map to my secret cookie stash. :P
  16. Ok, I tried to kill Nomad already over 20 times and I've already wasted more than 2M on supplies. I just give up, after more than 2 year quest cape ownership, I must obey my new master Nomad. Maybe if I get the money for a better herblore level, I might try it again, but for now, no more Nomad teasing...
  17. Since Mod Dylan returned, I have high hopes over the quests of 2010. :P Also, as the first update this year, FTP3 would be my guess, it's the last part in a series and already quite some time in QA (god, I hope there was some QA staff at work during this 3 weeks), so it surely would be a good bang for 2010, the official year of awesomeness, according to MMG.
  18. Back in the early days, I think he didn't sell them, or only a small stock. Plus a lot of people didn't know about the item.
  19. Or they're having a great holiday.
  20. Grand tree pods, as rare as the mints, same minigame. XD
  21. Granted that, but did you know there was another way to get one? You can get one from Longramble, in return for a player-made Tangled Toad's Legs. (Cannot be store-bought.) Longramble is south of the Mountains east of poison waste spirit tree (available after completing The Path of Glouphrie quest. I'm not sure if there is a limit on how many you can get from him or not. You can only get 1. :( 1 forever or per day? Plus couldn't a person make say 10 of the Tangled Toad's legs and then wait at the spirit tree and ask anyone they see to get a mint cake off the gnome? Only one... And yes, they ARE rare, I do gnome cuisine on a regular base, and never gotten an item, except goggles. Have about 400-500 deliveries under my name. :c
  22. Icthlarin first led the Mahjarrats, but they deserted him for Zaros. (Hmm, unintended pun included...) And Icthlarin was also the god of death, not Zaros.
  23. Kharshai could be more powerfull than Jhallan. Also, Jhallan used much of his power to transform into a Muspah when he was dreaming.
  24. On a sidenote: I've gotten a RuneScape Courier in my mail account. It seems legit to me, but the mailing adress is a bit suspicious, anyone else who as gotten this mail? On topic: Really, the content we've seen the last months were really great, if 2010 is even better, I can only think of quests which take ages to complete, so YAYYY. :D
  25. Well, I live in Belgium, which is practically speaking south of Britain, and everything is snowed in here. So latitudes don't mean anything.
