  1. Yeah, the abyss hurts my eyes...plus, when I do tasks (which is the only time I kill abbys anymore) I like to use lunars. So, if I finish abbys, I do the NPC spell and then I could possibly get another monster in the tower and not have to go anywhere.
  2. Fredz and Greedom1, thanks for the intelligent replies. I would first like to point out that I am NOT blaming players for the direction the game has turned. I'm not saying "Naughty naughty! :shame: You guys don't have work ethic like we did in RSC." I'm definitely blaming the GAME for how the players play it these days. I feel that overall, RSC just worked a whole lot better as a community and as an economy. Granted, not ALL skills were profitable, but as Fredz said, skills that were once profitable have recieved maybe one or two low leveled updates since the release of RS2. When we compare this to all the combat money making updates, it is easy to see why the players play the way they do. Now, we also need to think about other things. Stuff like DKing is definitely riskier than Smithing, and should be rewarded with more cash. I do not feel at all that skills should be more profitable than DKing or Barrows. However, I do feel that there has to atleast be some competition... 91 Runecrafting is a great example, or Runecrafting in general. This skill makes good money, while still being a skill. When you add in a risk factor (abyss) it becomes more profitable. When you work at it for a LONG time...you get 91 Runecrafting and it becomes insanely profitable. If you work at smithing for a long time...you'll never get to make anywhere near the kind of money provided by Runecrafting or combat. When trying to make money, there should be many options...semi-equal options. Not everybody enjoys combat. If Jagex added features to each skill that allowed it to at least compete with the money making of combat, I know the game would be a lot more popular and our economy would just work a lot better.
  3. I'm saying exactly what I said in my post. Most of the skills are not used by anyone as a main source of income. Most people desire to do barrows, dk, dueling, etc.. So basically, people get rich these days off of mainly combat. THEN they decide "Hey, I'll spend this much money in a skill and power train it, losing a lot of money." In RSC, people worked skills for money. Merchanting still existed, yes, and monsters such as black demons were still fairly profitable, but Barrows, DK, dueling, clues, and abby demons have become the main source (or atleast main goals) of very many Runescapers. For example, 99 fishing used to be desireable and very useful, same goes for mining. However, now these skills are being neglected and they have some of the least people with level 99 in it. Comparing this to skills such as cooking, fletching, and firemaking, we see that most of RS is now in the mentality of skills being something to spend money on, not make money with.
  4. I honestly have to say that I completely disagree with this post. If you want new interactive gameplay and a skill thats just for fun, that is what our mini-games are for. Having a skill that is only for fun is like having a "Castle Wars" level. You get exp for playing the mini-game and nothing else. That would obviously just be stupid... See my point? A skill has to offer usefull items in order to be sucessfull. It also just so happens that usefull items sell for money :| ...therefore making it a dreaded "money making" skill. *EDIT* I would also like to add the following. I've been around since RSC. In RSC, the game functioned a lot better because the most common way to make money was to use your skills. Now, everyone wants to do barrows, or get some other type of income based on luck. The direction the game HAS ALREADY GONE is bad. I believe using skills should be a very good source of income in a game, and then you go spend the money on something fun. However, ever since barrows and other features, it seems like people just get the money first, and then spend it to "power train" the skill up. Skills have gone really far downhill in this game, and basically the only viable skill for money making is Runecrafting. I mean sure, other skills make you money, but the income rate just stinks in comparison to other money making methods. In RSC, each skill had really good money making potential.
  5. Let me guess, "ure" a fool? :? 8-) :^o :shame: =; :notalk: *insert other random smiley* GJ at barrows. I've lost interest in that place, seeing that I've had no good drops after tons of trips...Karils junk, plate legs, chainskirt, but never anything valuable.
  6. Hey everybody, his "secret" is selling chaos to the Tzharr place and then buying onyx. Can anyone else confrim the actual details on the chaos tunnel?
  7. Yeah...maybe you should check your facts a little, or maybe you've just never heard of the Rune Mysteries quest.
  8. m8 i dont pk often (twice a yr maybe) nbut when i do and i go green drags im smart enuf to do that easily. dont count on ppl always being dumb cos they arent and it will get you killed if you think they are. Agreed. Next time I go green pking, I'll hunt you down, and then we'll see who is un-pkable.
  9. :D :D :D :D :D NoobWork you are my idol. *bows and kisses feet* The reason my HP is so high is because of three things. 1.) I almost have enough attack exp for "100" attack 2.) I have high ranged 3.) Nearly all of my magic levels came from casting offensive spells. 60-88 magic was slayer dart at barrows and/or fire bolt at steels. Most of the 90s came from ancients at barrows or ancients at mini-games. When I began playing today, I was 200k away from 99 HP, which was where I have been for a long time. I had 66 Pest Points from a long time ago. So, I just did some barraging at Pest Control and cashed in 100 pp, then I almost had my level, and I just went to finish it at Edge :D This was the only pest control that I used to raise hp.
  10. Level 119 combat now! This is my second 99, so I finally get that trim on my attack cape! :D Rate my stats too, while you're at it.
  11. I'm pretty sure that somebody should tell us how this happens. Even if someone takes the knowledge and abuses it, it is better if the general public knows about it. Anyone who abuses it will be banned anyway. Also, if we all knew what the bug was, we would be able to send mass bug reports to Jagex. It's been done before on these and other forums, and it works.
  12. Or, we could realize that tiny differences in ranged bonus aren't really noticeable, and the only reason we buy the expenisve ranger sets are just because they exist.
  13. Okay, before I have a stroke, I would just like to point out that a kilogram is a unit of mass. We actually have no idea what the gravity is like on Runescape, so carrying 1017 or 1032 kg might not be that big of a deal.
  14. So, people are seriously just too cheap to buy arrows? Thats pretty awful :-k I have 94 range 95 magic and I can honestly say that both have made me more money than melee ever has.
  15. It atleast shows that you are willing to spend money on something for a higher skill total. Compare this to getting 99 Hunter...fast, easy, cheap levels with no use at all above like 71.
  16. This brings up a good point. Are most of the people who vote in polls just new players who can't even afford arrows? I mean honestly, ranged is very cheap to train in comparison to melee. Mostly because theres more ways to MAKE money while still getting good exp. If new players are the only ones who vote in polls, does this mean that all of the awful updates that we recieve are because of them? And supernoob, shortbows and daggers attack at the same speed. Also, after all those reasons you listed for ranging being so good, why don't people use it?
  17. I'd like to remind you that the abyss was put in the wilderness for a reason.
  18. Thanks for the replies guys, and I think you've all made some good (and some bad) points. First of all, I dont think it is fair to compare the situation to F2P. In the free servers, magic and ranged REALLY stink. The best ranged armor is green hides and the best mage armor is...wizard robes, the blue ones. Compare this to melee. Even in members, a majority of the meleers are wearing rune armor. This means F2P basically has acess to the same ammount of melee armor as P2P. Theres TONS of mage/range stuff that F2P is missing. Another thing that most people aren't realising is that melee fighting requires food (or Guthan's). For the price of full Guthan's armor, I know that I could make it from 70-99 range. If you used food instead, it probably wouldn't cost as much, but isn't food a consumeable good? With melee + food, you have to even leave your training area to replenish food. The only time you have to leave when ranging is when you run out of arrows, which could take a week or longer depending on how much you bought. My new question is this: is this the fault of Pest Control? Meleeing there requires NO resources, where as it is a complete waste of resources for Magic or Ranged. Is this the training that everyone was thinking of while answering the poll?
  19. If that were true, wouldn't the most common answer be "It is easier to begin playing RuneScape for the first time as a meleer."? While this IS the third most voted answer, at 8% of the votes, I cannot understand why the "consumable goods" answer is most voted.
  20. The official RS poll right now asks us: Why do you feel melee is the most popular combat choice? I honestly cannot believe that the majority of people are saying they like melee because it doesn't use up "consumeables". I wish Jagex would've just asked me this question; theres no reason to poll everybody. The reason it is the most popular is because of one thing: the dragon dagger special attack. Most people who are working hard on melee training these days are people who intend to PK. If you want a KO while PKing, all you need is high strength and a DDS. The MSB (magic shortbow) only gets ONE special that delivers two quick hits, but the DDS gets 4 specials. Not 2, not 3, but 4 special attacks that double hit. Add on the fact that melee can harder than a MSB and you've got yourself the best pking weapon in the game. So I ask this: why is the most popular response the fact that melee doesn't use disposable resources? How do YOU feel about the poll? Do you PK? And most importantly, do you think that the poll results show us the majority type of player that commonly votes in polls? In other words, are the voters in these polls mainly the players who cannot afford the resources for Magic or Ranged? Thanks for reading. Discuss.
  21. They ban everyone on accounts of "bug abuse" in case you haven't noticed. You most likely got banned for your name or for chat abuse.
  22. Those are Zammy legs, as you can see by the red trim on the kneecaps. If it was 2 rune legs, the legs would be stacked in the picture and there would be a 2 above them.
  23. About time. So many people have been buying 99 prayer lately...and dbones are lower priced than ever
