You are forgetting that pures have 1 defence. Consider rune pures, addy pures, and barrow pures, though I have yet to understand them. Familiars have been a main part in HIGH LEVEL Pking..

Alch green d'hide bodies (100gp loss), adamant plates (usually 20-30gp), battlestaves (20-30gp, most kinds that are 9070), yew longs (140gp loss), beaver pouchj (80gp at low price), emerald bracelet (140gp loss if you buy), black d'hide body (40gp) blue d'hide body (60gp loss)

Seems like a battle worthwhile..

When you get the chance (27 hunter) do the Eagle's Peak quest and buy 3-4 box traps. TRap ferrets until you can start with orange sallies, then go to gray chins. In the beginning buy 1-2 bird traps and go to Feldip Hills. Alsop you can get rid of the rabbits in the Vinesweeper minigame, not sure of the requirement to hunt, but I did those to 27.

I think you get most of that mining requiremnet through Dorics' Quest, or whatever it was called.
