The notion that timezones should be severely imbalanced in favor of one clan (in this case, UBH) over the other in order to make a fullout war more even is a fallacy. It defeats the entire point of a fullout war, since the disadvantaged clan is being intrinsically barred from performing with as many people as possible. If what you said about the days (Saturday being good for UBH, and Sunday being good for 2M) is true, then 2M is already making a concession by agreeing to fight on a Saturday. Furthermore, it is much more reasonable to expect someone to get on a computer to fight in a war at around 3 pm than it is at 11 pm (even 9 pm is a stretch imo). 3 pm on a Saturday is the best compromise you will reach, but if UBH feels they are overmatched and needs to compensate for that somehow, a more viable solution than radically shifting the time of the fight would be to allow UBH to bring FA's/trials or something to that effect. I've fought against both UBH and 2M in the past, and from firsthand experience they are both respectable and well-run clans. As a result, I hope they'll be able to realize the compromises that must be made, and hammer this out without any arbitration from mods.

The flaw with Junior Clans is that they were so separate from the real clan, they worked almost like smaller independent clans and caused tension between the Junior and regular clan, plus once some people go to the level to join the regular clan they had become accustom to the Junior clan and the regular clan was like a whole new clan to them (Which it was). Agreed, all that loyalty that was built up during a member's stint in the junior clan would just be stripped away as they were expected to join the main clan upon hitting the reqs. Eventually enough people became fed up with doing that, I suppose, to kill off the trend of junior clans. This isn't really a revelation, though, as this topic would've been relevant as far back as about 2 years ago when clans like Phobia and The Corrupted were closing. Since that time the only (arguably) significant jr. clans I can even think of are The Futures (which was a shell of its former self) and Chivalry Forces, which was much more of a farce than a force.

Congrats IF, way to rise to the occasion with a great turnout! :D

The Natural Born Killers vs Ronin [Full Out War & Matched]
elit9 replied to erwin's topic in Wars & Run-Ins
GJ NBK, thought Ronin might have at least won the matched. -
I think it's fake. That picture harbors more deceit than my RuneScape character's gender. And yes, pun intended.

Wait what? Do you mean to say that visiting Jagex's London office' date=' smoking [b']tea[/b], and getting kicked out of Burger King for public intoxication all in one night is weird? :D None of my clans have ever partaken in a rl meeting, but I think some members who've known each other for a while & live in/near the same city have met up irl before. Didn't WG have one similar to that? Except they got high -.- Real life meetings would be cool, but the closest thing I've ever gotten to real life is webcam+microphone. Four years ago, a person who joined my clan was kicked due to inactivity. When I got into high school, one of my new friends there turned out to be that guy. Man... =D> Yeah the WG meeting was what I was referring to, that was some legendary stuff. And that's funny about your friend, honestly what are the odds of that happening??

I think I was too hung up on how terrible the alching animation looks now to make the LOTR connection. The wilderness bandits near the entrance to their little area have been yelling "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" as long as I've been playing RS, that's more of a reference than this is I think.
-
Can you, like, not see the rest of RS or something? I don't really care about the graphics but honestly how can you call it a downgrade?

Interesting.

How will the new graphics affect the clan world?
elit9 replied to The Observer's topic in Clan Discussions
The high detail graphics are optional so it isn't going to affect clans that much. I'm not going to lie though, warring does look pretty sick in HD. The only way I've really seen the updates impact clans is the fact that in full screen mode you can't do anything outside of RS (ie., IRC) without having it resized to the regular game window. My clan's been trying to set up a clan chat in RS as a surrogate for IRC for our full screen people but so far that hasn't worked out so well. People who frequent their clan's IRC room have to choose between chatting and full screen 'scaping, I think that's been the biggest thing so far concerning the updates lol. -
It will cost you about 8m from 70 fletching (when you can make yew longs) if you buy yew logs + bow strings + nats, make the bows, and then alch them. You'll get a nice magic level from that too. I don't know the cheapest way to get to 70, I've been way past that level too long lol. It'll cost a bit more to make magic longs instead at lvl 85, but it will take less time. I don't know the best method for cooking, though. I do know that like someone said, it is substantially more expensive than fletching. If you're going for a 99 just for the sake of it, pick out something that you actually like doing and just gradually work on it.

Hmm my membership is going to run out soon so I was considering power mining there if I ever felt like playing, but it looks like that isn't going to be happening. I don't see why they'd do this, IMO mining (or, at least levels way above coal) is one of the least useful skills at this point so I don't see the logic in removing the second-best place in the game to train it. It's not like people are all rushing out to powermine, and although the spot gave good exp for mining, it was still only like 40k an hour if I remember correctly (ie. it wasn't an overpowered spot or anything). If you're p2p, did you check the mine east of Ardougne? There are (were?) three rocks there that have (had?) the same configuration as the ones at the Al-Kharid did.

IMO most of the stereotypes are true when it comes to RSB clans that try to pk/war. I think I've only fought a clan like that once in a war (we lost 0 people), but back when there was clan pking we'd often either clean them up without losing a single person or just mistake them for a random team. I'd imagine that community/skill RSB clans are better (in terms of our expectations) since you don't really need that many crazy organizational/tactical/etc. blueprints to be successful; you'd just need good, active members who are really into whatever it is your clan does. Having forums/TS/IRC/etc. isn't a requisite for those things. But yeah, when it comes to interclan combat I believe those stereotypes are substantiated.

I couldn't find a link to it without using Search ... they've been slowly staving off Classic for years now, but without even a link anymore I'm afraid we may be approaching the end. Of course, this could just be an error due to the newly designed website, but it really would not surprise me at all if this was intentional. Here is the direct link if you are too lazy to search for it on rs.com: http://www.runescape.com/classicapplet/playclassic.ws

Don't worry, I've been playing for 5 years and am only at 45m exp. Plus, all my friends make fun of me for having a low total.

Np Yes, that did take many hours of time that would have been otherwise devoted to pursuits of glory in RuneScape. Fortunately, legendary comrade Guy La Vache was able to procure a copy of the banner he had so artfully created. This is essentially the holy grail of clan banners, though, so it was obv more than worth it.

GJ Faith. Connection Lost, I like the name.

You don't see many "Clans" but you see teams. With some teams warring and having the same rules as clans its sorta strange that they place themselves differently. It's sorta like how green drags pking used to happen now, and many of those teams who excelled in that are the ones making an impact on BH. Exactly, those are teams - there are far more informal teams than clans dedicated to BHing in its current form. There are warring teams, yes, but those are different - I can't think of any that both BH and war (or vica-versa), unless it's with a group of friends who happen to be in the team. You even said it's like green dragon teams - that is PKing, not clanning. Oh and GJ with the tanking practice The Slayer15.

I haven't been in any one clan for that long, but there is a core group of members from my first clan who stuck together for a very long time (basically until quitting RS). There were maybe a dozen members in my first clan, Empire of Falador, who eventually left for our allies, The Death Squad, and formed an integral part of that clan's member base. After TDS closed ~8 months after most of the EoF people had arrived, maybe half of them progressively joined the subsequent clan, Clan Forbidden. Sadly CF closed about 10 months later, but soon after TDS re-opened, and again drew many of those same people who were in EoF so long ago. As you may have guessed, TDS closed, and some of those members went to TDS's ally, Dragonwood (where I still am today). Unfortunately at this point I'm the last one standing in DW. It is nice, however, that for a period of 3-4 years (ended only by retirement from RS, usually) we had so many people stick together through all those different clans. Many of them have been my best RS friends, and that alone made it all worthwhile. My current clan, DW, is a little over 4 years old now (I believe), and we actually have a pretty nice amount of members who have been there for several years.

I never even knew that. :( Sad to hear.

Has the online/offline thing for each user always been there? I've probably just never noticed it before but I like it. The Tip.it theme is hawt too.
