  1. I am genuinely excited about the ranged slayer dungeon (I wonder if they can only be fought while on slayer tasks)...and it's about time f2p get some new armour. I am cautiously optimistic about Jagex' plan for the remainder of the year. You can never have enough good quality quests...together with the implementation of HTML5 and NIS, should be very promising. The POP expansion and the construction rework can be exciting as well as the possible addition of t90 mage weapons from 'bosses'. But they should be very cautious; if things are released prematurely like the EoC, they can cause dissatisfaction among players...and that's the last thing anyone wants to see.
  2. Update looks nice..will definitely have a read through what each emissary had to say. reminded me of my sunburst deck from years ago lol
  3. Some very nice ideas from both articles. I think change is good for all parties involved. It is necessary to further the development of the game, attract new interests while renewing the old ones. The EoC was a great opportunity for Jagex to rejuvenate the relatively old game. An event like this will send ripples to all corners of the game; time is needed for us to see the wisdom (if any) behind it and the true ramifications of such change. Therefore it is essential for one to give it sufficient time (few years imo) to evolve and make attempts to appreciate and embrace the effects in the process before rejecting and throwing everything into the abyss. I also agree that the clan forums are very underused. It would be nice to see a re-work on it soon.
  4. what are the ideal traits would i want out of the uber-captains? opportunist + % boost for SF/M/C?
  5. Based on his article, Bond seems to be ridiculed by the whole episode being played out in the court. But imo Belmont's action is wrong regardless of whether the gp (and in fact any kind of virtual money in future reference) have any real monetary value or whether the victim is partially or fully responsible for trusting others and sharing log-in details. I think £16 is a little bit of a joke. In consideration of the abundance of online games at the present, this is not going to be the last of such cases, I believe the magistrates need to make a statement to everyone that actions along the line of theft or unauthorised access to computer and contents of any forms that are under some extent of restricted access, cannot be tolerated by imposing more severe punishments. As for Jagex, from the advertising point of view, any publicity is good publicity. A low profile story like this is just another free advertising opportunity...I'm sure they can work out a good spin if they want to take on this.
  6. i have lillies planted from years ago... would be nice to make use of them again
  7. lol this guy is such a legend... I'm still laughing over his celebrations during the Tyne/Wear derby.
  8. farming is nice, update sounds fairly exciting... wonder how useful all the new additions will be
  9. just made two superior SS hood by mistake =( ..I made sure I made the superior version but forgotten to check number of items made ..building on last month's mistake with making a DL body instead of superior DL --> let this be a case study of carelessness On the gear discussion above, i agree that they should either eliminate power/tank/hybrid gear classification..or to increase the difference in armour/lp/damage between them..Even with my extra POP items, I don't see myself wearing them over nex/gwd for what I'd normally do on rs.
  10. Change in Pop armour value in terms of item kept on death and to QBD/KK are probably the best parts this week. and Nexus? Given it is aimed towards low leveled players, I am not surprised by how minuscule its effect is towards anyone else. However, it could have been implemented for f2p-ers as well... In the meantime, I think I'll pass.
  11. Yes, you would need to complete The World Wakes quest along with the other quests (Ritual of the Mahjarrat, The Chosen Commander, Branches of Darkmeyer, Firemakers' Curse and The Void Stares Back iirc). There's a 67 slayer requirement which you have by the look of your signature. If you are maging them, you would want to target the Automaton Guardians as they use melee (and are weak vs. fire spells iirc). Can attack them over the low walls on the far side of the chamber. Not sure how well fire waves at glacors will work, but glacors are great for summoning as well. (...I'd say dagannoths at waterbirth with ancient and cannon but not sure whether it's still viable after nerf.)
  12. Can't say I am really excited about having a pseudoscience - divination, as the basis of a new skill. But in continuation with the discussion, 'Divination' as a skill would probably bring in an expansion to existing lore if it indeed involves making discoveries/gaining insights into various things via some sort of supernatural medium. This should be a good thing as it opens up the opportunities for many new and exciting quests..which are becoming scarce lately. But if they do go along the line of 'inspired by some sort of deity' or some sort of supernatural effects, they would need to structure it such that it has sufficient distinction from skills of (subjectively) similar ideas such as prayer and magic. The dowsing concept as described by Binary Mage is well thought out I think, and that could well be part of the skill. On an unrelated note, I think the choice of the word 'divination' (even though it is more of an umbrella term imo) made the whole skill/concept a lot more legitimate (and credible) than 'dowsing' (if it were indeed central to the whole addition), particularly after the ADE 651 episode a few weeks ago.
  13. Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see... The first article is quite nice. But I can't say i really understand the second article. In regards to the first article, I think the author has made a really good point that despite the two being mutually exclusive by nature, a combination of them is necessary for the game to work. I think from the beginning, the fantasy elements in the game have been quite well established, particularly with the quests and lores; but also in other aspects e.g. magic. Given the framework, I think there are lots of room for players to develop and further the fantasy in their own way. The way I see the quests implemented is that they put the players into a position where they form part of this story, engaging in various interactions that would further the story, which with a bit of imagination could provoke some sort of empathy to whatever comes out of it. But whether the player takes the extra step with the imagination is entirely optional. Similarly, with respect to the establishment of GE as the author mentioned, one could see it as a shortcut to the conventional 'visit a local shop and buy what you need' practice that negotiated around the fantasy element of a visit to your local'Flynn's Mace Market' in Falador; but it would equally work if with a bit of imagination to correlate this with the development of a large shopping mall which are forcing local corner shops out of business, which in my experience (I could recommend a few papers to anyone interested) has become more of a trend. (This is perhaps out of the 'medieval'(?) context where RS is supposedly set in, but nonetheless I think the point for imagination to fill out the framework provided by Jagex still stands.) In this case, the 'reality' as the author defined it (the parts of the game in which other humans play a significant role), also exists. For every transaction that takes place, there must either be someone else physically present on the other side (c.f. w2 and store outlets) or someone else remotely present (c.f. GE and Internet shopping (suppose you could only access it in a mall...)). So directly or indirectly, other human do play a significant role in facilitating transactions in GE. I think the balance between fantasy and reality in the game is a bit of an equilibrium and is subjective as well. But nothing really matters...nothing really matters to me.
  14. Obvious solution: nerf soul split. lol hopefully not... I wonder how big a difference offensive/defensive armours make...
  15. why are they changing things?..
  16. 1 - The ability bar looks good with basic/stun. The rotation i use works well for me, but I'm sure someone will have better solution. But for now, I use combust-wrack-impact-wrack-conc blast-wrack (suppose the sonic wave could work too) as basics rotation, + variation of dragon breath/chain for glacyte. Asphyxiate usually if i have adren from previous kill before glacyte spawns, but otherwise usually the basics are more than enough for glacytes to spawn. Then asphyxiate afterwards usually kills glacor if not with an additional wrack. 2 - Void works wonder. Gano would work as well if you are more comfortable with it. Also i use dw as opposed to 2h but that could be just personal preference. 3 - Idk. Hope this helps a little bit.
  17. ...it happened to me when i was making seasinger's. and i agree with the confirmation screen for pop armours, especially since it takes so long to gather the trade goods. Never paid much attention to FOTS occurrence sorry.
  18. EEE works fine for offhand. I personally skip the titan as I don't find them particularly effective. Also, it might be just personal preference, i use dreadnips as well.
  19. wow! grats lol
  20. can't say the charm sprites update made it more enjoyable for me; but i do appreciate them spending time, trying to revive these otherwise dead content.
  21. highest tier is lvl 60?! pretty sure i'll be exchanging any ores for xp
  22. Two well written articles. In regards to the first article, i agree that the game has a lot of potential, and it is imperative for Jagex to thoroughly run through the game before releasing. Given the situation with the beta for EoC, its release and the many subsequent fixes, I think this is their second chance to redeem themselves of the mistakes they have made and learn from them. The NDA isn't an issue to me, and the fps/lag is understandable at this stage of the game, one can only hope they will be rectified before the conclusion of the beta period. In regards to the second article, I agree that there is hope for the game in the future. With the recent change in combat and future changes in game engine and interface, Jagex has opened up many opportunities for the game to grow. Change is good imo, and it is necessary in most cases. I think the author has made a valid point that RS has been around long enough such that it has made a name for itself within the MMORPG community. As someone mentioned elsewhere on this forum a few days ago, Jagex need a good media campaign to honestly update people (ex-players mostly) on what the current game looks like. Afaik, the image of RS among those of my gamer friends is that of RSC.
  23. took mhm and ohl, and they work wonder, thanks for the advice =]
  24. Hi, I have just completed a task using earth surge, dw virtus with fsh, dreadnip and ovl. I prayed ranged and tanked melee. I found myself eating at least two sharks every kill...I don't think this is normal, so I must be doing something seriously wrong. Can anyone give me any advice for future references? Many thanks.
  25. Combat changes could be nice..depending on how they implement them. No quest? =(
