  1. Effigies were fun, okay? Not against the spirit of the game, they were good old fun. Every time I see one pop up (or sometimes the foot of my steel titan by mistake) I'm happy, because it's another step closer to max. Now, I'll have to open them all to get effigies once again. I'm lucky enough to have the stats to do that, with a lot of boosting. But just how many people do you think don't? For them, seeing an effigy now will be like: "Oh boy I can now give 90k xp to some high level, and I'll get a neat 25k runecrafting xp in return, and it'll only take me a lot of shouting and travelling to do so!".
  2. You can solo *almost* without food (but with a unicorn). I'd still bring an emergency brew or two just in case. Eeks would be very good. Nexing uses the same gear and is 2-3 times the money, look into teams for that as well.
  3. Rule 1 is: Spend money to make money. Rule 2 is: Spend lots of time to make money. Farming is good money, especially once you get things like juju potions/scroll of life/greenfingers aura.

Yeah such a small amount of lore I mean we ONLY learnt that: The Thzaar were original the Tokhaar and are corrupted by merely living where they do Dead Thzaar in Tokkul feel pain and thus its quite barbaric. Tokhaar were created by the Elder Gods to build the mountains of runescape. The Elder gods are supposed to return some day. Zamorak was after the power of the Kiln. There is a heck of a lot of lore there just in the Elder God things alone; more than we get in most quests even in the lore heavy series like elves or myreque. Lore says: Powerful beings we already knew are lesser corrupted versions of other beings who are otherwise much the same. They built mountains. This doesn't really mean anything at all other than that there's another power source (Stone of Jas #2 please) and another aeons-old guardian (Dragonkin #2) and another lesser version (Dragons #2). So the cliché is nicely explained. It doesn't say they were created by the Elder Gods as far as I know. Tokkul feel pain is a nice touch but hardly relevant to anything at all. Zamorak was after every source of power, so meh. The only interesting thing about it is the connection with Char, but that isn't explored at all.
  5. 1) No, it wasn't needed. Gathering effigies is a legit way of training. 2) Yes they are, they make the game more fun and reward patience. 3) No, there are many ways to reduce the xp gain from effigies, this is a very bad one. This update favours only those people who can assist effigies. Everyone who can't (and can't open their own effigies) will lose out on a lot of xp from slaying and bossing.
  6. Exactly. To clarify: Effigy xp gain reduction is NOT the issue. Effigies not being bankable, essentially FORCING you to use them early (losing a lot of xp) or giving up effigies entirely (again losing a lot of xp). If anything, this update means people will have to get more assists, so it FAVOURS the people who are already able to assist effigies (and they can open their own) while making it harder to catch up for the players behind.
  7. I'm taking a break from RS due to the effigy nerf. Quest is fairly unspectacular. To clarify: this is the first update I'm considering quitting over, as effigies in their past form are crucial to my goal. I do not see myself hunting penguins for 99 runecrafting.
  8. Quest is definitely nothing special, very short, not difficult, not that much lore at all. Only really major thing about the update is the effigy change :(.
  9. Then why are people complaining about them being removed? Because they are so much more enjoyable to use, as I posted earlier.
  10. So let's establish: why did effigies have to get nerfed? Other than the crap about effigies being "meant as ..." because in the end it's what the players make of them that counts. And they found it was a viable training method, that was highly encouraged by game updates up to this update.

Just saying that by your logic, effigies were never unbalanced, nor has any update ever been unbalanced.

  14. That's ridiculous, just like you're saying 'effigyscapers' are 'butthurt' I could say you are, because you are a bit unlucky with effigy drops. I'm not sure how many people get effigy drops at reasonable intervals, but it's definitely much more than 5%, given the popularity of Assist Clan, w117 Daemonheim and the number of people hunting cave crawlers etc. This isn't about whether effigies should provide less xp. It's about the way of nerfing them. This way, everyone who has an effigy right now has to dump it ASAP to get the better xp rates. It basically penalizes you for playing the way the game was meant to be played. Because playing to achieve your goal is how the game is meant to be played.
  15. People stopped training skills legitimately once effigies came out. Now they are butthurt that they don't have an easy way out. Because the alternative is Runecrafting. You could take the "Vezon Fenrak Approach" to skilling. "If you don't like the skill, don't train it." Ever since effigies, the game has been about maxing more than anything. It shortened the time to max by only a little, comparable to for example urns, penance horn, penguins etc. all put to together. That is a lot for one update, but not game-breaking. The main thing is you can max out with combat now (mostly) and skillers feel left out. Imagine you could only get effigies from fishing rocktails, cutting ivy etc.. Would all the people who would then be 'effigyscapers' be happy if they got basically removed? Jagex is just stupid. They didn't consider the implications of adding effigies and now, over a year later, they feel the game has become too much about them. Instead of just buffing non-effigy xp rates and/or lowering effigy xp, they come up with this solution, which completely ruins the 'saving' and 'opening yourself' aspect of effigies.
  16. For me, there's basically 0 reason left to play. I'm not going to ZMI/barb advance (which got nerfed recently as well)/congold all that xp when I could be having fun hunting effigies :(.
  17. Effigy nerf is horrible. It completely ruins the game as it has existed for the past year or more and puts maxing out of reach for a very large number of people going for max.
  18. As soon as you can finish the kiln, pretty much, so within two hours. + however long the quest takes.
  19. Knights of Ardougne give court cases often and easily.

  21. Thanks guys :). Celebratory corp (not really), loot: First ffa split drops 1m+, but I got too many kills (dreadnips + goliaths, not the 29 bolts split though). Then cs, and in cs bolts aren't split, so another 175 :P. Variously 3-6 people, mostly 5. Invid died only about 10 times. Charms are only from the last 1.25 overload cs trip, I had 39 blues and 13 crims more I think.
  22. Level 86 is 30k xp per lamp iirc, level 98 is around 45k. Level 80 is 25k. Edit: Worst 4 days ever, but spare time for Fight Kiln :thumbup:.
  23. http://forum.tip.it/topic/299446-q/page__view__findpost__p__5054965 Probably a couple of hundred hours in all but the amount of xp is huge, so maybe 10 hrs lost on the way to max. Only need to wait now and it'll be done :). Also almost 280m total xp.
  24. 412 adamant platebodies (4 sc hammers exactly), only one smithing rock. 250kish xp though.
  25. I'd say monkfish or cavefish, or cut ivy. Cannonballs if you want profitable smithing xp, very afk.
