  1. You can die as much as you like, and besides, you can solo 5:5 hard mode gds as well, it just takes a little while longer and you need your prayer. The main thing I doubt works is the 2:2 thing.
  2. That honestly is one of the worst maps you can get :(.
  3. I don't know what caused the price difference, except that maybe shot is just a lot more common (being gained as side product of dragon pickaxes), and that people see salamanders as low-risk weapons for warbands?
  4. People are using protect prayers a lot, I presume? Ports: Bought blackwater hull, otherwise not much interesting, waiting on Exile's Point and 35k captains. As for the current game update schedule: it's very hard to find any scrap of hope that Jagex will straighten out. At this point, it probably isn't even reasonable anymore (or it might not have been reasonable some time ago), but it's annoying to admit defeat, because then I'd have to quit the game entirely :P. Can't have me playing a dead game, hmm.
  5. That Q&A is full of amateurism. 'None of the Jmods in support use macs, so we didn't fix mac graphic problems'. What kind of sad excuse is that? Repeat ad infinitum. Maybe we ought to get some corporate executives in there, I hear those are pretty tight on meeting deadlines.
  6. It's an exact copy of the old 138 formula, with the exception that magic and ranged are now equal to melee - they are multiplied by 2 instead of 1.5 - which is all we needed really.
  7. With two-tick abilities, it's going to be tough to do *any* switching combo. How about Slaughter > Massacre for starters? Keep it basic. But nearly any combo will lose out to Reflect + Resonance + Debilitate + Barricade.
  8. Ok I'll have likes again tomorrow, so consider the above liked extraordinaire for now . (grats 136 hp xp)
  9. There are no more proper 'bonuses' as there used to be. You have armour, health and prayer, and multipliers on armour for each combat style. You can find them under the second button from the left on your ribbon (the 8 button interface piece).
  10. Computer all fixed . Shield achieved, failed a couple of voyages but overall success is pretty good. Barmaid was steel (kill!) and no island unlock yet. Also I got two voyage rerolls from randoms, but they're both gone from the glitch there. Still, that 8 + 33% plate voyage at 44% came in successful, which is nice :P. Recruited one zonghu player, that's all so far, probably getting one of each basic, then save azure until I get the island unlock. Edit: I also replaced my ccs bind with wand and orb, so I now use ssb/leathertop/hood/bn/wand/orb. Main reason is that I don't like ranging warrior-type things.
  11. You can use the damage values from Ascension crossbows or Drygore maces instead of spell damage values. Provided you are using t90+ spells, that should work.
  12. Theory is that the faster an event, the higher the xp/h, so you want to avoid super slow events like extinguishing the grotto fires, feeding the dying adventurers and the swamp boaty. The event where you get blessed isn't useful iirc, so avoid that, and the shades are pretty slow too. If you've done a couple of runs, for example the runs you need to do to get those adventurers to the level they can predict paths at, you will know which events are faster and which are slower.
  13. I think the current combat system does a good job of seeming complex, while it actually isn't, whereas the old system is the reverse. I'm not at all surprised that new people (somewhat) prefer the old tutorial and intuitive play to the new system. That said, I don't think that crafting the perfect ability rotation is much simpler to understand than the old accuracy equation, so there's that.
  14. You sheathe or unsheathe your weapon, by right-clicking the minimize-button on your action bar and selecting 'sheathe/unsheathe'.
  15. So I just tried to change my Win8 account name (removing my last name, cause really, I don't need to see that every time). Ended up refreshing my install, deleting my Windows Live account, made a new local account and now I have to reinstall a bunch of programs (not that many, will probably take less than a day to download it all), including Steam and Chrome. But at least I got the right name now, and 90% of the directories I type into command prompt are that much shorter. tl;dr Microsoft sucks. Edit: incidentally, I'll hit the shield in about 10 hours with a lot of terracotta to go. I don't mind the ~3k for the figurehead so much, but I'll need 1500-2000 more for the hull. Since I'm not racing for anything, that's pretty much fine, I'll just pick up some exiles/base crew/captains and level them on terracotta or something.
  16. Moved to Events, have fun :).
  17. I'm looking forwards to these quests! That's about it, really.
  18. I don't think so. The official wiki has pretty bad articles on combat, and the one on armour only lists what % of your total armour rating comes from a chest piece (e.g. the ratio of the armour values of Guthan's plate to Guthan's skirt and stuff like that). The more subtle details, such as the fact that not all hybrid items have the same armour distribution or that not all items necessarily have the stats of the level they are listed at - that's certainly something Jagex would never talk about. Generally speaking, assume that information comes from player research, unless a Jagex source is specifically mentioned.
  19. No, you won't get the damage bonus from Bandos boots when using magic or ranged. But you will get the full armour bonus and health boost. Armour rating is a universal stat. A certain % of your armour rating gets applied to your defence versus a certain combat style. What % exactly depends on what the styles of the armour you are wearing. For example, wearing only 'all' or 'hybrid' armour will give you even defence against all styles. Wearing only magic armour will give you melee defence equal to your full armour rating, but a lot less ranged defence. That means that you should use ganodermic gloves when you need melee defence, regardless of what style you are using to attack.
  20. Miths won't stay aggressive, and you likely won't survive afking in the three-miths spot, and elsewhere the xp/h is just bad. If you want to afk, you need a cannon to draw aggro, or you need to rely entirely on Chain/Ricochet, which doesn't work for melee. I'd go for hard mode dungeoneering, but since that's not afk, you're stuck with airut/frosts/dark beasts?/gwd/idk, using a cannon (don't place your cannon near more than 2 airut).
  21. ??? So the only point of the game is to gain xp? Well in that case, let me point you to a relevant game. When you hit the cap there, you gain 1 xp. That way, you'll be busy for a while more. Meanwhile, I'll be trying my hand at some actual gameplay.

Virtus is definitely worth it, even Subjugation if you can get away with that. Since Virtus would be about 10% extra dps if using vwand and book (less with staff, presumably), I'd expect you to gain about 5-7 kph, plus a couple for the wand/book upgrade? It really is the only upgrade you can get, so unless you are using that cash to merchant, just get it. Speeding up glacors is a matter of discrete units of course, it's one extra attack that you need to use, or not. Getting a glacor to 10 lp is no better than getting one to 500 lp, since that's both one hit anyway. I don't know exactly whether Virtus is on the right side of that balance, but concentrated blast is very good. Until it gets nerfed, vwand + abyss orb + virtus armour is your best bet (assuming Subj + virtus wand/book is too low armour).
  23. If you want to get 85 for LRC, that's not a great idea, unless you mean the Falador elite task. Just keep doing C2s all the way to 99, and remember you can use Stealing Creation to get bonus xp.
  24. Hang on, those are from the RSC > RS2 transition? Pretty cool that they used to know their stuff, I feel better about having supported them :P. But yeah, it's unlikely that we'll ever see such a sensible post from Jagex again :(.
  25. Ancient spells renamed, woo. Also queuing, no weapon switch penalty - good stuff. If Revolution does use a tick to check for a slot in use, that's stupid, but if not/otherwise it's a good update. And the Devotion nerf is just going way too far. How about making it last 10 ticks + 1/2 tick per point of prayer bonus or +1 per tick if using a shield, with a 90s cooldown (remove the extend-if-kill because that is completely opposite to using it for bossing). That way, you get 10 - ~45 ticks (6 - ~27 seconds), depending on your equipment, but only up to ~27 ticks (~16s) without a shield.
