  1. This. The radius of the Earth was calculated by Eratosthenes to be some 46.000 km by using the curvature of the Earth and the difference that makes to the angle of incidence of sunlight (the metre was defined at 1/40.000.000th of the Earth's radius originally, but it's about 40.050 km now, depending on where you measure). Also, you can see ships disappear behind the horizon if you watch them sail away from you, which is really hard to explain with a flat Earth, and that would most certainly be known to all the sailing people even five thousand years ago. Additionally, Wikipedia writes this: You can't underestimate what people knew a long time ago, but it seems rather unlikely that they would have high-end technology and leave absolutely no trace of it. Ask yourself: could we, in any way, manage to disappear without trace, even if we wanted to?
  2. Yes, I am. Even in the current game, where so many people have xp past 99 already, I would add a hard cap at level 99 exactly. And while it would be a change in direction for the game, I do not think it would end up hurting gameplay. I would rather have people not playing than afking ivy/crystal/whatever to 200m (sorry Jeremy, Minergoo, idk how many others). I hope that capping xp sooner means that the end-game will shift away from grinding for xp to (grinding for, let's face it :P) PvM, PvP and minigames. As Yoko said, a shift away from the xp race, which, frankly, has very little to do with playing the game anyway*, would be much more fun. *As in, mindless afk will get you anywhere and everywhere you want, and the most skilled PvPers, dungeoneers, monster hunters, minigamers and whateverers have close enough to no advantage over your regular newb - it's purely a matter of sleep requirements, RSI and boredom. I would say: playing a thousand ice hockey matches is not impressive, that's called routine. Winning the Olympic final is impressive, that's called skill (go Canada).
  3. When you look at a path, it'll tell you whether it's easy, medium or hard. Read Sinkhan's guide: http://forum.tip.it/topic/306060-meandering-through-the-marshes-a-temple-trekking-strategy-guide/ And the Tip.It guide: http://www.tip.it/runescape/pages/view/temple_trekking.htm
  4. Or, instead of making you gain all that xp after 99 for no reason, we could simply cap xp at 13,034,431 (104,273,166 for dg, or else we modify the xp/level formula for dg only). That way, you get levels for 100% of a skill!
  5. 725 is not a multiple of 125, I'm not sure how you got there :P. I think you mean 6 * 125 = 750. On their worst duo mission (m/c), they'll have 900/900 stats plus probably 625/625 from solidarity (captain, merchant, exile, morale and combat basics), putting them at 3050 total stats, 1150 worse than a level 10 basic crew. You do get 2325 speed from that, which may be worth it. On sf/* duo missions, they'll have 900/2900 stats, 3800 + 1250 total, being a good bit (= 850) better than basic crew success-wise, plus that speed. On m or c singles, they'll be horrible of course, having only 900 stats plus 500 from solidarity, 2800 worse than a basic crew member. On sf singles, it's 675 worse. On triples, the best-case scenario, they'll have 900/900/2900 plus 750 each from solidarity, putting them at a nice 4700 + 2250 = 6950 total stats, around 60% higher than a basic crew member. Judges are way stronger in the region they first appear, of course, having much higher base stats and more powerful solidarity. These exiles deserve a little buff in my opinion, mainly in the m/c department, because special crew runs the risk of getting boring at this rate. Wisps are already useless, now exiles are underwhelming, and if there's ever a new region past the Shield, you can bet on two out of three exiles being replaced by 2.7k single-stat base crew.
  6. High xp/low requirement quests like the Waterfall Quest are good starters as well. And, forget about using cash for anything. You still need lots of cash, but it'll all be pumped into construction, summoning and MTK.
  7. Speed skating anyone? It's popular in one country (roughly) but it is also what puts us high in the medal rankings :P. The US team had special suits designed by Lockheed Martin, but they ditched them after really bad (well, top-10) performances early on, because the ventilation hole in the back allegedly acted as a brake. It didn't actually help, but it was pretty funny :P.
  8. 07scape has so much more interaction with the devs - it's like they don't feel like it's too serious, so they can do some fun stuff, unlike in the main game. I'm jealous :(.
  9. You're going to have to cut the granite at some point anyway, it doesn't really matter where you do that. The main charm of that method would be reduced bank times, as you'd be banking only once every ten inventories (at a normal 25/inventory with kyatt). The downside is that you would be stuck with lots of full inventory spaces. For example, you have 18x5 kg in your tort, and charms, pouches and shards in your inventory, plus another 7x5 kg (for a total of 250 pouches per run). You have 18 inventory spaces left, so you cut 2 blocks into 20 pieces, make pouches, trade in etc. and then cut the next two blocks. It's probably the best way to go, yes. I imagine that cutting blocks two at the time isn't such a bad thing. Don't make the mistake of bringing 20 blocks in your inventory though, it'd take ages to cut the first ten, because you'd have so little free space.
  10. Goblins are fastest when cannoned in Lumbridge, just across the bridge with the ruins and stuff. Hobgoblins are fastest when cannoned in Wilderness, at the hobgoblin mine. Abberants are definitely better in the Smoky Well, with a cannon and titan. Skeletons can't be cannoned in the catacombs, but you can use bursts with Momentum, or use Chain and stuff instead. Banshees might be fastest in the Well, but I did them in the Slayer Tower with maul, turmoil, overload and Momentum - guaranteed one-hit that way, so it's really relaxed. Revolution might improve that, as your attack speed goes up and you can use drygores. Ancient Pyramid mummies can be one-hit with fire spells, and they are aggressive. These are the mummies that spawn from the walls. Jogres are really annoying, there simply aren't enough spawns anywhere, the Pothole Dungeon has a really annoying layout for cannoning purposes and there's obstacles in the jungle everywhere. Pick any spot and stick with it, I guess.
  11. Tanks as defensive pkers won't be particularly useful, however you won't miss that much if you ignore melee, because melee is the most useless combat style right now.
  12. It is double xp throughout the weekend.
  13. I agree, they're a complete waste. I don't like how boring they are either, it's not like we get some awesome 'wishing well fruit' that we can eat for 1000 lp and 300 pp and +15 general stat restore and 10% adrenaline or something (two bite, per bite, it's a big fruit okay). Anyway, moved to Rants.
  14. Everybody knows not to attack itam. He'd probably DIY your bones into a suit of armour before he killed banked you wearing said suit (banking players doesn't count as trading).
  15. Actually don't slay if you're already 99 and don't value slayer xp. Right now I'd just focus on Divination and keep accumulating bonus xp in Agility, Runecrafting and Divination of course (higher levels = more bonus xp). When you get bored, go kill some useful monster - airut, glacors, tormented demons, that kind of thing. Get the charm drops and money for 99 Summoning, Prayer, Crafting, Smithing, Fletching, Herblore and Construction. Woodcutting and Fishing combines with Dungeoneering. Naturally, warband where applicable. The biggest issue is going to be that you would ideally stay at 98 stats to make use of all the bonus xp that comes along, so you'll be stuck with those unfinished stats for ages :P.
  16. I added this to General Guides for now, if you can add a little more info that'd be great. It's a bit unobvious to figure out where this topic goes, so this works for now I guess. I assume you're looking to keep this updated and fixed and everything?
  17. I got about 50m to spend on gear; I got dual chaotic rapiers, c staff, c c'bow That limits you to things like frost dragons, glacors, airut, QBD (but no drygores :/), GWD, tormented demons, DKS if the spawns are indeed fixed. Nex/Vorago/Barrows2/KK aren't the best options without t90 weapons. If you have dl darts, that would help a lot (I can't tell from your stats whether you bothered with Ports yet or not). Of those bosses, I believe dks have the highest raw gp/h, though tormented demons are up there as well (unless dragon limbs crashed recently, idk).
  18. With challenges, it'll be more than 200k/day if you do a decent-ish floor (prestige etc.), it's 178k per challenge.
  19. Jagex already has the behavioural patterns from their anti-cheating software, it should be peanuts to implement a good AI based on that :P.
  20. It won't matter if you fight the boss instanced. Drop rates are listed on the Wiki as 'rare', meaning from 1/101 up to 1/512, the same category as the typical GWD item drops.
  21. Daily challenges for extra keys, other than that, I'm not sure. Slayer does award you hearts quite regularly, but camping a monster might be better.
  22. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjYYOmjSUrCwdGZLcUF3bE1LQXBSd2VrT2MzVzBYUEE#gid=0 Cannonball: gp/h: 82,000, xp/h: 29,000 Morytania legs would be expected to boost that to about 50k xp/h, I suppose. Not sure about Varrock armour.
  23. Your stats don't really matter (since you have turm/ovl/90+ combats), it's your wealth/equipment that we need to know :P.
  24. Camp glacors! Slayer is not going to be higher xp/h, charms/h, gp/h, or, I think, effigies/hr. Only ever slay for slayer xp, really.
  25. Yeah, but do weapons in your yak count? And if they do, is it fair that a yak can be killed and you'll be without a weapon? And how fair is it that you can pick up a dropped weapon and suddenly gain 30 combat levels?
