  1. Moved to Help & Advice :). The biggest thing is the Evolution of Combat, which revamped all of combat. There is now an action bar with 12 slots, tied to hotkeys. You can put abilities on the bar to use in combat, as well as items for use in skilling (though the options are limited here, you can't drop items with a 'craft' option for example).
  2. Fixed. Remember, you're not the only player base in the game. So tell me, where would anyone use level 50 hybrid armour? Don't go 'fixing' my posts when I'm right >.>. its f2p for starters. I know that. Does F2P have any use for level 50 hybrid armour? @Tans: So you don't know either, but you 'correct' my post on the assumption that you know better than I do? You could at least provide a proper counter-argument, rather than discounting my estimate a priori because I'm 'too high-levelled'. I'll put the case clearly: It's better to use tier 50 normal armour than tier 50 hybrid armour anywhere in F2P, if you are killing anything that is worth killing (no obscure things that are useless here).

  4. Not a huge fan of the 1/7h system for warbands, but the rest is ok. SS/blood barrage nerf - seems reasonable, depending on how much it is. But if you can still barrage Graar (as someone posted) then there's basically no reason to complain. The lower damage to secondary targets might help for glacors actually. Triskellion - seems useless. Level 50 hybrid is useless. @Tempest: That's because players at level 138 carried 30+ brews (20k+ health) whereas Nex simply had 30k health to start with (iirc) - almost equal in strength, right? That's why constitution level is no longer taken into account. Players would have 24.75 levels from hp, Nex would have 750. If you apply that correction, it's 113 vs. 251 combat, which is really not that far off. Now the same holds for equipment versus levels. The new ratio is much more useful than the old (though still not as good as it could be).
  5. The ogre composite bow is nice if you want a stylish oversized bow. This is now the Bow Fashion Topic. brb title.
  6. No, it's not. Since I just mentioned that low is subjective, you could reason out that I was stating my opinion there :P. And I do have reasons for that (mentioned a few posts up), and I'd hope some/many people would agree with me, but it's still subjective. Edit: in the end it's only a temporary convention on the meanings of highest (as absolutely the highest number) versus low (as in subjective low level) to make the discussion here smoother - which seems to have failed miserably :D.
  7. 1) My correction is on Orwell's modern, which does not have any examples. 2) Orwell here is taking a lot of figures of speech literally (the toe/tow the line for example, and hammer and anvil being about the anvil getting the worst of it). He's essentially complaining that metaphors aren't 'realistic' anymore. The point of figures of speech is that you can use them in their current meaning without every knowing where it came from. 3) I like that sentence. 4) You mean 'progressives often think' which really doesn't sound any nicer than 'is often thought by progressives'. 5) Because someone you have referenced before used that word in their work? Because it carries the implication of a particular school of philosophy that the reader would be familiar with? 6) Well they have to think anyway, Orwell's just not making it easier. 7) Language can actually be original. You can come up with things that nobody has used before, and have people understand them. But that's not required for good writing. You can write great books using only stock phrases. You'll probably need a good story to tell though. Essentially my problem with Orwell is that he is a language 'purist' who's not interested in letting language take its natural course and evolve ("Except for the useful abbreviations i.e., e.g., and etc., there is no real need for any of the hundreds of foreign phrases now current in the English language."). He also doesn't seem to understand scientific jargon >.>. For example: "*An interesting illustration of this is the way in which English flower names were in use till very recently are being ousted by Greek ones, Snapdragon becoming antirrhinum, forget-me-not becoming myosotis, etc. It is hard to see any practical reason for this change of fashion: it is probably due to an instinctive turning away from the more homely word and a vague feeling that the Greek word is scientific." Where he completely ignores the possibility that perhaps some French authors might also be using the Greek (or Latin, as another case may be). And en passant he stabs at people who like to use Greek words. Some languages just have better words for what you want to say, too. The Greek might have a much more descriptive name than the English (in this case, antirhinum happens to mean nose-like) which can make someone use it.

Primal 2h Blood necklace Primal platebody Choice of: 1) Sagittarian shortbow, Shadow silk hood and Sagittarian arrows 2) Celestial catalytic staff, Shadow silk hood and law runes 3) Primal knife, Primal off-hand knife and law runes 4) Celestial catalytic wand, Celestial orb and law runes 5) Sagittarian shortbow, Celestial catalytic staff and Sagittarian arrows I would guess that 4 is optimal because of the law runes, great 5s basic ability for dual wield magic and decent range. I've used knives and the range is so short it annoys me to no end. You can't even fire across half the room, including a lot of chasms. I'd bind a primal chainbody until you get a platebody. Don't bother with legs. You can get another body than primal plate if you primarily mage (Celestial top) but I wouldn't use a Sagittarian body because that's a bigger penalty to melee, and melee ends up being the highest dps because of Sever, Assault and more abilities in general.
  9. The point was that adzes are low-level content. It's not about highest (I'm not saying it isn't the highest number) but about low (I'm saying it is low level). Since low is subjective (which highest is not), it can be different for various stats. And for firemaking, anything is low, even level 99. Which has as nice consequence that it doesn't matter what level you have in it - it's all useless :D. I did word it wrong in my post, and I've now corrected it. Hope you can now understand my point instead of arguing technicalities ;).
  10. It's supposed to be antlers? O. I thought the top curve was supposed to be a stag's head with the other end the stag's tail :S.
  11. 92 firemaking isn't the toughest skill requirement in the game. That's probably agile top or something - adze is pretty low level. Firemaking has ridiculous xp rates (for free!) at Char's training cave and the circus, plus cheap xp with the book of Char. Honestly, if you can get to Char's cave (91 fm) the rest is basically waiting - 10 minutes a week for 140k xp or something? Plus you're not even missing out on any content by waiting. (also shows you the power creep from Char's to warbands - from weekly xp in a cheap fast skill to daily xp in a slow skill)
  12. I've added you because it's a really old chat that I know quite a few tiffers hang out in. This thread is mostly about utility chats, HYT is on there because there's also quite a few (ex-)moderators in there who can help with account problems and such. As a note to other 'general' chats out there - I don't know of any other old 'traditional tip.it' chats, so bring some proof :P.
  13. I can report that I got the white stag bow. It is very, very ugly.
  14. Rock lobs haven't been good since EoC I'm afraid :P. Good things to kill are probably dagannoths (cannon + barrage, costs 1.5m/h or so but very good xp in magic, if you feel like maxing that) and glacors. Glacors will give you over 100k summoning xp/h (100 crim + 100 blue or so), and they profit quite a bit, plus the magic xp is rather good. Essentially a profitable version of dags. You do need to kill them seriously - no luring/regenerating after each kill and stuff. Subjugation, arcstream etc., use row, cstaff or vwand+book or treachery+book (ah/virt). Not sure if treachery > cstaff, but the dw 5s magic basic is definitely much stronger than the 2h. Cast blood barrage. To deal with the glacytes, barrage Enduring a few times and finish off with Impact (before the others die from barrage).
  15. Well yeah but there won't be a demand if there is enough runite equipment to go around for the next ten years. And in ten years, Jagex goes bankrupt, the servers break, they catch on fire, the fire spreads wildly with the northwesternlies (damn you Irish winds), GB is in ashes, the (lack of) City banks collapse the global economy, war breaks out, China and the US launch pre-emptive nuclear strikes and everybody gets roasted etc.. Point is, the game would respond very slowly to any changes in input rates if the reserve is much greater than the Δreserve. The point is to fix the game soonish (couple of months, a year tops) so we can all enjoy it. If we fix the game in ten years that's quite a gamble.
  16. 1k chomps get. Also 4m to 119. Meh. 40 arma shards now, no boots, no effigies :(. 21m mage though. Edit: Also got some trickster boots. Yay :). 60 commendations till helm, after that 200 more for 3 full sets of all helms and deflectors etc.. Hoping to get all boots (2x) before that. Edit2: glacors give too much xp... 600k mage xp/h.
  17. Always use Nex equipment. Faster kills, less runes used per kill :).
  18. @Trey: The current price change is a function of the current input & output, and the current price is the sum of all changes, a function of the sum of all inputs & outputs, which is the total amount. So basically, if you rework the system to reduce the number of items entering the game by a factor ten, you're going to change the price (it'll go up) but only until it's too expensive to alch. I'd rather see items at 2x alch price because that'd at least allow variation up and down, instead of just being stuck. The game has always (well, for a long time now) favoured combat based money making methods, but that's no reason not to introduce skilling methods. At least 1m/h, if not 2m/h, should be possible, with level 90+ stats.

Forge regent special attacks unequip your opponent's weapon.
  20. Aviansies are good if you want to kill some Kree'Arras. Vyres have never been good afaik. Maybe you can barrage them with a blisterwood staff. Automatons are semi-interesting monsters with some good high-value drops and the untradeable cresbot (a pet) so if you want that, go for it. Ascension monsters aren't great xp either afaik, but the bosses are again pretty decent (if you can get keys at a reasonable price). I don't think Jagex has added any 'good' tasks in forever, speed-wise. Abyssal demons and nechryaels and some other tasks got buffed a lot now that barrage is so good, though.
  21. @Trey: You do need to take into account that buyables like smithing lose money (@~250k xp/h) while mining (should) make money (@~100k xp/h). If you balance the money right, the lower xp rate doesn't hurt. But I agree that xp rates need to be roughly equivalent. Hedge is talking about saturation of the market. There are so many items around (much more than we need) that it will take a long time for, say, runite armour to be worth a lot more than the alch price. Alching is the only thing holding up most of these items anyway. If alching stops being profitable, the items will barely leave the game (so you'll get a lot of runite items at alch price + 1k or something). I think that if there was some sort of D&D that would allow us to supply our god emissary with a number of armour sets based on the number of sets in the game, we could solve the saturation. E.g. there's 10m addy plates right now, the emissary wants 200 plates. If there's 500k plates at some point, the emissary will only want 10.
  22. Nobody actually believes that notification has anything to do with solving issues. Whether it does, that is something computer experts have yet to divine.
  23. Nah tools are a percentage boost (for mining, for woodcutting it's weirder) :P. See: http://forum.tip.it/topic/273056-discussion-update-teasers/page__st__5380#entry5414377 "A new pick wouldn't mean higher success rates, just less time between attempts (7/3 instead of 8/3 ticks on average). They should take this as an opportunity to make woodcutting work like mining, honestly. "
  24. For ccbow, the damage is: Royal bolt + weapon + level every 4 ticks, plus the off-hand at half that damage For royal xbow, the damage is: Royal bolt + weapon + 1.5*level every 6 ticks. Since ccbows have 0 weapon damage, dw ccbow has 1.5 royal bolt strengths + levels per 4 ticks. The royal crossbow needs .5 extra tier 80 (royal bolt) strength+level bonus to match the two bows, plus 50% bonus damage to compensate for the slower speed. That means royal crossbows have 1.25 times the strength bonus of royal bolts, plus a bit extra for levels. And yeah, apparently off-hands don't affect what ammo you can use, so you can use t90 ascension bolts while using rune crossbow off-hand.
