I don't think that there is any reason not to. One question though, what is the eta for the start of this game?

Dungeoneering Again
And by hideously fail I assume you mean summon something really large that wants to eat me? Or you are now a squirrel for 1d6 turns? Also what would the penalties for having a stat at "0" be? Would 0 willpower mean that you are shut out of spell casting in general? Or just that it is very hard to learn?

Could I ask a couple of questions? For one, would you allow wild magic as it is being played in "THE GAME" (Nature magic on steroids which has a pretty much random effect [in that I can summon an animal but I have no clue what will turn up]). Name: Cagoro Caenili Background: The son of a local carpenter Cagoro learned his fathers trade to an extent. After a time he heard of the wonders of adventuring and decided to leave home much to the chagrin of his parents. He has become obsessed with the acquisition of wealth and looks to the destruction of monsters as the easiest way (with the least repercussions). So essentially a monster hunter with an obsession about gold. Appearance: Of moderate height with no obvious scars. He has brown hair and hazel eyes with a long face and a deep voice. Alignment/Personality : Neutral evil, in the does whatever is necessary to achieve his goals sense (rather than the tortures kittens for fun sense) Traits -Strength 5 -Skill 5 -Toughness 7 -Charisma 3 -Willpower 5 Inventory (Leave empty, will be used later)

As to trade routes; is anyone interested in some gold?

Well then time to get this started. The newly christened Pharaoh Ramses the CIV speaks to the roaring crowds at Alexandria. "My people, the twin clouds of Rome to the North and Carthage to the East fall heavily upon my mind. Each one prepares for war and strikes rabidly at its neighbors as if they were lead by rabid hounds. Either one would gladly conquer us if we are to let our guard down for one fraction of a second, but no we shall not waver; we shall not allow them to strike down the beacon of light that is Egypt in this worldly sea of darkness." With that Ramses the CIV turns and leaves. Egyptian orders (because I can). Mining of iron ore is to increase in the eastern desert (area east of the nile extending to the red sea). All large public works are to be pushed back in importance with Iron and gold mining set onto a higher tier of priority. The construction of a network of roads to connect the cities of Egypt to one another is ordered. 10 years In the agricultural sector grains and other food crops are to be given (temporary) priority over cash crops. Bureaucratic schools are to be set up to train administrators. 5 years Military academies are to be created to train officers and generals. 5 years The industrial complex of cities is to be developed to facilitate faster production of goods. 10 years Mandatory military training is to be given to the third eldest son of every family once they reach the age of 16 (or second eldest if there are only two) (NOTE MILITARY TRAINING DOES NOT ENTAIL ACTUAL COMBAT THIS IS MAINLY TO GIVE ME A LARGE BODY OF DECENTLY TRAINED SOLDIERS WHO ARE NOT SO VALUABLE TOWARDS THEIR FAMILIES). Archery and melee (with training weapons obviously) tournaments are to be organized upon festival days to promote marksmanship. The ports on all coastal cities are to enlarged and put to use creating an anti pirate task force. 5 years Horses are to be bred if at all possible. A border guard is to be set up in all provinces. A civilian watch is set up to dissuade crime and warn of attackers. Observatories are set up near cities to chart the stars. Research: Steel 40 years Improved navigation (Astronomy) 20 years Improved Star Charts 20 years Stirrups 25 years Improved Irrigation 10 years Improved Armor 10 years Crossbows 15 years

I vote Ganster hegemony (but I would advise either the 1930s one or the Brittish one [not the New York "Gangsta" slang one])

This looks interesting to say the least. Egypt.

The Back Room
Fura not everyone likes heavy role playing (I play D&D so I can't really talk about that). Also once you get your computer you should try to at least play one hegemony game (if it's going) before you bash it. As for Ganster hegemony I would say that that holds quite a bit of promise if one can pull it off (think about it, crips vs mafia in Chicago) though It would probably require a couple NPC states (well the country in question as well as some other rival gangs).

The Con Is On
Very well I start manufacturing explosive vests.

Fallen Rising
Germanicus curses and sets off towards the other side of town keeping a hand close to his gladius. In my defense I know jack [cabbage] about this world (google did nothing for me) and you said the time period varied. The roman name was because... well it sounds kind of cool.

The Land Of The Game
I'm up for it.

Fallen Rising
That should be more than enough (homebrewed world and varrying time period). Okay then character time Name: Germanicus Pontificus Back story: Germanicus was born into a small village of Lestrai that had only acquired gunpowder a couple of centuries ago. His father was a carpenter and his mother took care of his assorted family. At the age of ten years old he began helping his father with building projects until at the age of 15 he joined the Ad Novan armed forces. In said armed forces he learned both the use of a knife and a gladius as well as the use of fire arms. After 10 years in the Ad Novan armed forces his parents died of old age and with nothing tying him down to his town he decided to travel and seek adventure wherever it may be. Weapon: State issue steel Gladius, 6 shot .45 caliber revolver, 20 extra rounds. Clothing: Standard issue Combat Clothes, Back pack.

Fallen Rising
Erm could we at the very least get some idea of what world/time period we are in?
-
Fallen Rising
Read the Dresden files (that is where I got the idea from). I will play this whatever you do (unless it gets REALLY bad [and then I will probably still play]) EDIT: A link towards what I was talking about (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Dresden_Files_Organizations)

Fallen Rising
Correct to an extent. The Christian pantheon would be no more powerful than the old norse who would be no more powerful than the babylonian pantheon who would be no more powerful than whatever the [bleep] the celtics had. Also what I meant by the magic bit is that while it might be more flexible it is quite a bit more likely to cause the really powerful beasts in the area (ex powerful fey/ dragons/ whatever) to go OH SHI- A GO DAMN WIZARD. I HAD BETTER NIP THIS AT THE BUD. Than if you for instance solved all of your supernatural problems with judicious shanking and or applied fire power. Also@ Mather the mythology is correct to an extent (the earth is round, space is around the earth etc.) but so are physics. Again Mid level fantasy where things may not quite make sense.
-
Fallen Rising
Well another option is to do something along the lines of a modern times mid level fantasy (both high and low so to speak [it oscillates between them]) under the premise that ALL mythology is real (well the creatures and to a lesser extent the powers) and that Yaweh holds no more power than say odin or horus (as well as throwing in a whole slough of different mythological creatures in). The motives of each creature would change very little from their stated ones in fairy tales (the creatures being relatively static as opposed to humans). This is also allowing the use of fire arms and all other modern weaponry (though certain creatures may be partially immune them or just very resistant to trauma in general) as well as many many systems for magic. Tl;dr: All mythology is real and no pantheon is stronger than any other. Modern tech is an option that can be just as effective as magic (and doesn't send up a signal flare for the nasties).

The Con Is On
Would anyone else be interested in organizing several more bank robberies starting simultaneously at different banks (well or convenience stores) so we get less police on us?
-
The Land Of The Game
Sorry I can't do this session (soccer practice)
-
Fallen Rising
Well another option would be to include magic and technology (have you ever read the dresden files) ,but make them incompatible towards each-other in that magic makes tech. made after around 50 years before the games start malfunction so badly that it simply does not work. But hey dungeoneering is fine too (just kind of played out).
-
The Con Is On
That leaves the problem of creating a large ish tunnel without being found out (if this is a city that means that mining explosives are a no-no). However somehow having criminals robbing another bank at the same time might not be a bad idea (the whole safety in numbers shtick) especially if they are the type to take hostages (as it would hopefully delay reinforcements sent to stop us until we are safely out of the area).

IRC dungeoneering.

Arty sheaths his weapons and looks for the local office of the artificers/imbuders/magical item creators/wherever the hell he came from.
