Actor Pete Postlethwaite has died age 64
Oscar-nominated British actor Pete Postlethwaite has died at the age of 64, a spokesman has announced. Journalist and friend Andrew Richardson said Postlethwaite, who was made an OBE in 2004, died peacefully in hospital in Shropshire after a lengthy illness. In 1994, he was nominated for an Oscar for In The Name of the Father. Actor Bill Nighy, who performed with Postlethwaite at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre in the 1970s, paid tribute to "a rare and remarkable man". "I was honoured by his friendship - he is irreplaceable," Nighy added. Broadcaster Stephen Fry, meanwhile, wrote on Twitter: "The loss of the great Pete Postlethwaite is a very sad way to begin a year." Actor Simon Pegg said on Twitter that Postlethwaite was "one of our finest actors", adding that he "first saw him at the RSC in 1986 - owned the stage he did". And former deputy prime minister Lord Prescott, also writing on Twitter, said the actor's films Brassed Off and Age of Stupid "had a real effect on me and our government". Lord Prescott has credited 1996 film Brassed Off - about the struggles faced by a colliery brass band after the closure of their pit - as the inspiration for a Labour regeneration programme for coalfield communities. King Lear Postlethwaite's friend Mr Richardson said the actor, who also starred in films including The Usual Suspects and Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, had carried on working in recent months despite receiving treatment for cancer. He is survived by his wife and two children. Postlethwaite, who lived near the Welsh border in Shropshire, was being treated at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. He recently told the Shropshire Star that staff there had been "wonderful and I am grateful to them". The actor, who was born in Warrington, Cheshire, began his career at the Everyman working with Nighy and other future stars including Julie Walters and Alan Bleasdale. He returned to the Everyman in 2008 to play the lead in King Lear, a role he had always wanted to take on, and said afterwards the theatre had been "where I started really, or where I realised that being an actor wasn't just a flippant job". He starred alongside his friend Daniel Day-Lewis in In The Name of the Father, about the wrongful convictions that followed the IRA's Guildford pub bombings. His role as Giuseppe Conlon earned him a best supporting actor Oscar nod. He and Day-Lewis had previously worked together in repertory theatre during the 1970s. Postlethwaite was once described by director Steven Spielberg, whom he worked with in films including The Lost World: Jurassic Park, as "the best actor in the world". Taken from BBC news.

Smithing
Well you recently have got Juju haven't you? So therefore herb runs will be amazing to help yuou. Anyways what I did was Addy Bolts til I could do tips, then tips til plates, and plates onwards. You then have the option at 98 to dwarven stout up and make rune longs (think it's rune longs that are -7gp/exp which isn't bad). I did stealing creation and went for 5 hammers at a time or however many I could do which gives a nice little break. Gold isn't really fast exp but is good in relation to gp/exp but I couldn't do it :P Also... I spent around about 60-70M in total.... But made it all back through slayer, MTK and herb runs. I wish you luck, 99 smithing is amazing :D Oh and also do effigies when you can! ;)

Frozen door (New)
If that's the way it worked...every god would hate me right now, and I'd be the one behind that door. (as well as about every other 135+) Well practically they can't touch us - Guthixian Edicts. However, Zaros could make or break us. This... well surely this doesn't bode well for us no matter how much we help him?
-
Frozen door (New)
:3 Forgive me for asking.... But, as far as I was aware we are on Zaros's side? Right? Well... Wont repeatedly killing the general of his armies kinda annoy Zaros just a teensy weensy bit? We already know he'd go totally psychopath on Zammy when he's back.... And we'll obviously be dragged into it..... But.... Yeah.... Why Zaros's army when we're on his side?

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!

Behind the Scenes - January
Also looking through the RSOF people are asking an interesting question - Jagex as of yet have not specified what these COMBAT gloves will raise... Will it just be Melee, Range or Mage... or even Prayer or Summoning or HP? Each of these 5 items are all COMBAT stats.... Certainly with 10 hours of double exp in Summoning and prayer I'd be lapping it up as I could get a Yak with my charms (which atm get me 172k from 94), and then cutting price off prayer. Guess they'll tell us when they're out which will issue forth numerous complaints about it? What do you lot think?

Behind the Scenes - January
Well now... Dwaf Quest - Nom, one of the few quest series I like. GWD - Nom, now I don't care if it has strength bonus's I would love to get my hands on Torva just for a little bit to play around, however I will not be going to the boss as he's well out of my league, soooooo Draz, Octarine, Hunter Ghor and I will probably spend our time at Bandos or something get the feel for GWD :D Hati Wolf - Nom, hopefully can get more than 1 set of gloves.... In which case 99 attack will be a doddle.

Tasking with cannon
Basically the method I use is everything I can cannon, do, everything I can't - Piety. And @Sy - It may kill off some profitablility; however I still make at least 3X the money invested from slayer. To get me from *i think* 85-90 I used up a 25M cash pile on cannon balls and prayer pots and came back with a 75M cash pile when i sold all my slayer drops. Herb runs and MTK topped it up a little but, but the majority of it was all slayer stuff. Sure you wont make the 4X or evern 5X the money when going for pure profit, but it's still really really good money.

Mage Slaying.
Did you profit mage slaying? Cannon? What pots? What gear? What spells? (Not trying to hijack, but I'm considering mage slaying too and just want some input too, sorry OP D:, but I'll let you know what I find out outside of this topic :P It's no problem :D and thanks! :)

Summary of the year and looking to the new one!
Real Life: Ahha, well my fellow Tifers first things first - If you ever want to, my profile on here is now totally updated, sorted, done, and written, pictures and all! :D So that's a good thing! Second now - Hope everyone is alright. It's been a few months since I last posted a blog entry and it wasn't too good and frankly I wasn't in a good frame of mind either; however, I have bounced back from the brink! I'd like to say thank you for the support of Valuxai, Darkwitchery, Drazhar44, Octarine, Zokot and BloodAngel - you guys and gals are the greatest people ever and I owe you big time for listening to every whiny neurotic breakdown I've had over the past year <3: Couldn't have made it as easy without you guys. I honestly can't wait for the new year now, so many bittersweet memories and bad ones too, makes it hard to believe how much I've changed personally over the year, but seemingly only for the better. Next year, I have no doubt, will be frought with problems galore, but I promise that I'll keep going through them on RS and in RL as I have the support of you guys <3: RS: With regards to RS it's been an interesting year with a hiatus here, and a hiatus there but I got through it. Uni really got in the way of my stalking of people on here and my playing of Rune and therefore during the term times I do lurk occasionally when I have the time but other than that I'm slaving away with essays. However, with that in mind I have to say that I almost got all my goals done bar a few levels! The greatest Runescape achievement this year, I have to say was the gaining of 99 Smithing - A skill that is practically my favourite ever, no matter the costs. And it was made especially special by being joined by Drazhar44 and Octarine as they got 99 Cooking and 99 Prayer respectively. <3: Grats to them too! Next years goals practically amount to a fair few 99's and 90+'s! 99 Attack will be first up to get whilst Slaying. Then 99 Strength. Even before 99 Attack I should have the money and charms for 96 Summoning. Following that it doesn't matter what comes next - Slayer is a hope to reach 99 and thus make the money for 95 Prayer and 96 Herblore. So then the Boss monsters of RS better beware! Anyways, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as you are one of the greatest bunch of people I have ever had the fortune to meet *points to all of TIF*. :) Thank you, for a great time, and good times, and may we continue to go into 2011 and only make this community stronger. <3:

Mage Slaying.
Oooh ok, that could be a plan... I do want 96 summoning soon :P

Mage Slaying.
Whilst I was doing this waterfiends task that I am almost 100 kills into I realised that due to my mage level they seem to be taking massive chunks out of me. There is no way it can be due to defence as I have 99 defence and was potted up with extreme defence too making me 125 aaaaaand I was using piety, therefore seeing as mage has a direct impact on mage defence it has to be my rather poor mage level of 75. Anyways I was wondering how I can get my mage up quickly and came up with the idea of mage slaying for a bit. I was wondering what: A. The best set ups are for general mage slaying with different options for things. B. What tasks to mage. At the moment I have a 5m cash pile though but can sell a few items to try and make more if need be so lets say 15/20m realistic figure with liqud assets. I have the charms for 93 summoning, however, getting 92 will take money out of that pot mentioned above. And obviously as you can see - If need be I can use a greenmans ale and make extreme mage pots. So help? <3:

Frozen door (New)
Actually.... As far as I understood - Zamorak used the staff of Armadyal and stabbed Zaros and himself with it, draining Zaros and gaining his Godhood... Whilst Zaros just faded away into nothingness.... Therefore.... When did they banish him? Am I missing great big chunks of RS lore here?

Strength Slaying.
Tbh though everyone still has illustrated that SS is superior to Dscim + Ddef. Worth it in long run really.
-
Strength Slaying.
Personally I've found: SS > Korsai + Ddef > Dscim and Ddef.

What suggested thieve level?
I just spent the past hour and a half thieving that damn phoenix only getting 702 feathers in that time. I also get strings where the [cabbage] will catch me for about 25-40 times in a row and on average I'll fail about 50 times a trip with gloves of silence etc. What level do you guys advice to get for this little [cabbage] as he's wearing on my very very short fuse atm.

What is this mask called?
Oooh guess they changed it to look like the doctors masks from the Medieval Period.... Or have they been playing too much Assassins Creed Brotherhood?

Voted no. When I saw the results from the 55k polled votes so far I wasn't too surprised tbh. 88% yes, 9% no and 3% don't mind.
