  1. I think the bottom line here is that no one can be forced to change his mind against his will. Neither of you have the possibility that the other may be right as even being close to an option in your head. So the best thing to do is agree to disagree. Obviously one of you is right and the other is wrong, but at the end of the day does it really matter? Both will go to bed tonight thinking he is in the right and the other is in the wrong, no point stressing over not being able to convince someone else that your view was the correct one. I think for all intents and purposes if this discussion should continue we should start over, with no more quotes that are lost from their original context 5-6 pages back. Say what you think is true and have the other respond to that.
  2. The other factors I can think of are what else are you wearing for ranging? and what are you trying to range? No offense but 70 range is nothing special, and I'm sure if you were 80+ you would see a drastic improvement in accuracy. That being said the extreme slowness between volleys will make every zero seem that much worse. Count the number of zeros you see within 100 hits and compare it to 100 hits with bronze daggers/arrows. It will probably be about the same but with the daggers it seems less because of how fast it goes. Finally the d bow is not meant for conventional training, its really only good for pking with dragon arrows and full void to get the best effectiveness. You would be better off for training selling it and buying knives, or if you're extreme chinchompas.
  3. I hardly see how asking a professional in field of discussion opinion hurts his argument in any way shape or form. I am no expert in psychology so I went to someone who was because I was curious. He wasn't on your side. Why does that mean that nothing I say can be taken seriously?
  4. Z, why do you keep bringing up the "no, they can't" quote over and over again. He has made it abundantly clear that in that context he was talking about physical maturity and brain development. He also has agreed many time over that the "kids" you are talking about are capable of acting maturely. He has just extended that to say that they will in general begin to act more mature as they grow older. Nothing that he has said is a contradiction until you take quotes out of context and paste them in whatever order looks incriminating. Also nothing he has said is out of line what any psychologist would tell you has been founded in scientific experimentation and observation (and I would know since I had my psychology professor read this entire thread and he agreed that compfreak is right and you are being redundant in bringing up points already settled outside of your out of context quotes.).

There is a plateau with patience too. If your not patient at all you will go crazy and not be able to max out. Yes but given the time any amount of patience will work. If you are only patient enough to play for one hour a day it will take years to max out, if you do it before you die. The key variable is time put in total. Nothing with stop you from maxing out if you put in the time, regardless of if that time is put in in huge intervals like 7 hours a day, or small intervals. So yes there is a plateau for patience but still when given enough time you will max out.

High hp puts their combat higher, which pits them against meleers that are above their mage combat level. Having high hp is a huge disadvantage to mages. The goal is to have a low combat and high mage so as to be able to kill people within that combat bracket in 3-4 hits.
  7. My apologies, it was not meant to be an insult, it was meant to be an observation of you clearly not understanding what he has said despite him saying it in a plethora of ways. You're right, you have pointed to posts where he said children can not act in a mature manner. So please do not take the time to quote it again, I only have to read it once to get it. The fact is he has supplied ample evidence supporting his statements about children not being able to act in a mature level on par with any adult. Keep in mind these are generalizations, just because it doesn't apply to one kid out of a million doesn't mean it isn't true. No, they can't. Do you seriously agree with that? lol The biggest problem with your argument about this being comparable to racism is that racism is discriminatory against all scientific evidence that says they are the same as you and me (besides the amount of melanin pigmenting their skin). So yes saying "laziness is a product of being black" is racist. However saying immaturity is a product of being young is not discriminatory, its science. Maturity comes with age. There is a point where the young person will develop a mature mind (hopefully), and no one will argue that. An ageist would say that no matter how old they are, because they are younger than me, they can not be mature. In otherwords it would not be racist to say laziness is a product of being black, IF being black was a temporary state normally catagorized by laziness which the person would be able to transcend. However as we all know being black is a difference in the pigment of our skin and has nothing to do with our laziness, there is no increased likelyhood that someone will be lazy simply based on the pigment found in their skin. I hope that clears up the misconception about this being ageist, and to clarify in case i worded something above terribly I am not racist in any way shape or form. and yes I do agree that children lack the ability to reason maturely (with very few exceptions) I work with kids for my job and can testify that none of the children I have ever worked with have had the mental capacity to reason past their immediate wants and desires, nor can they take a course of action and determine the consequences and make an informed decision based on that reasoning. I have read whats been posted here, all seven pages actually. Perhaps going back and re-reading everything would help you to see the conversation differently? Again you are comparing apples to a wooden table, these aren't comparable.
  8. Let me attempt to shine some light on this subject for you since you somehow seem intent on not understanding what compfreak is saying. #1 He is asking for any other takers because he has effectively proved all of his points while disproving all the ones you raised that he disagreed with. So this debate between you and him IS settled. #2 He is not saying that all adolescents are immature. He is saying that only the immature ones would make a spammy wilderness rant. The mature ones, and the adults would not. That is not ageist (nor does that kind of discrimination have anything in common with racism as you inferred, which by the way is an ad hominem argument, trying to push your point by making the person you are debating seem inferior or in this case, racist.) it is a simple truth.
  9. I'm not sure why you are going to write off all randoms because of one instance where it didn't occur when you wanted it to. The reworked random system is vastly improved, with higher level players (i'm not sure if its everyone but i know I always have the option) getting the option of an exp lamp every time. This has made me love randoms, even when it was in the middle of getting 99 hunter when i saw someone log on and realizing that by the time I finished the random I was going to have my spot jacked. Either way I'd give it a week and you won't hate them anymore.

Get a faster internet service, buy a faster computer. Problem solved.

Comparing maxing out in rs to becoming a rockstar irl is really a little extreme for me. Number one because if you get a guitar (or whatever your profession you are going for) you can practice and practice and eventually you will hit a wall where you can not physically or mentally improve anymore. It's called a plateau and it has baffled scientists for years as to why to people who invest the same amount of time into something have such drastic differences in the levels of improvement, with the one peaking far beyond what the other guy could ever hope to achieve. So its like comparing apples to computers to say that rs maxing is like being a rockstar. Not everyone can be a rockstar, even with insane amounts of time on their hands to practice. Everyone can max out in rs given insane amounts of time to play.

To rephrase what compfreak is trying to say, if you are going to mage someone and you have 59 mage, your combat level (if you were pure mage with maybe some defense and prayer) would be around 35-40 (depending on the prayer and defense levels). A level 35-40 combat that only trains mage would be able to own a level 35-40 combat only melee trainer. I.e. the two stats would be you 59 Mage 1 Attack 1 Strength 1 Def 32 Hp the other guy 1 Mage 32 Attack 32 Str 32 Def 32 Hp Hope that clears up your little dispute.
  13. nice to see this guide being updated swiftly. One suggestion that I believe will make this guide much more user friendly is hide tabs dividing the daily events from the weekly events. Or (and possibly in addition to) put them in order of frequency, such as picking your fruit every 2 hours (or whatever it is) and then the cactus every 3 hours, so that the activity that you can do the most is at the top and the ones you can only do once a week are at the bottom.
  14. Also one thing you forgot is that you can daily buy a certain amount of seaweed and pineapples from the general store guy in Catherby. You have to go through the normal dialogue, he does not have them in the shop screen. I believe this adds an extra 15-20 k profit a day. Not a lot but something is better than nothing. Also you could note that crafting the battles staves and then alching them still yields about 1 k profit per staff if you buy your orbs at around 1 k ea. Thats free magic, and crafting exp along with being a free 64 k (if you have varrock armour 3)
  15. Just about the 8th guide I've seen on this, but its well done so far, looking forward to the range and mage sections. The biggest thing this has over the other guides I've seen is the gp/hr estimations. Every other guide just says "ZOMG 400k/HR not H4x0Rz!1!" and doesn't do a good job with explaining how they get that number at all. 7.5/10 (I'm holding back until I see what you do with the range and mage methods
  16. Is he still upkeeping this guide? Anyway at 80 att str def a regen bracelet keeps me full hp with dfs, torag body and legs, skillcape, salve ammy (e), and neitznot helm.
  17. Interesting, 150 k per hour isnt that good ( i can get 250 k at grey chins) but the guide itself is well done. 9/10 because of no exp/hr rate.
  18. Well done guide, I suggest adding what the possible loot is from what you are thieving, the high alch value, exp rates, and cash rates. All in all 7/10 with easy improvements to 10/10. *edit* On looking over again the pictures are well organized, but redoing them to full screen pics, and not having the microsoft paint editing would be better imo.

Is this thread now officially a debate on whether or not combat familiars are worth using at slayer asgns? Or is it still for people to argue about slayer sucking...not that I can see how anyone can if they read the entire first post. I also hear that soul wars is a better option for slayer exp then doing most assignments, but that is all hearsay and I have no data, as I have never played!

Lol well I've found myself agreeing with you on every argument I've ever read on here so far, so you've got one supporter in how you debate. But alas (or maybe hurray!) its time to let this thread die.

Compfreak, #1 Thank you for being the only other person I have ever communicated with (I was going to say met, when i realized that we never have.) that realizes that opinions found contrary to the facts are indeed wrong. I argue with my brother all the time about that particular subject (him thinking that his opinions are safe from being wrong because they are opinions. #2 After lurking here for a while I've read a bunch of your posts, and I wanted to say it is a refreshment to see someone who uses his brain rather than his heart to argue. People post/argue too often based off of emotion and ignore pure facts. You out do yourself in arguing with pure logic.
  22. #1. I would recommend changing the Title to something more reasonable, many people would get burnt out on rs trying to get 13 mil exp in 3 weeks. It is doable but that is an extreme number. (maybe something like Coandca5 Guide to Hunting Mastery) #2. I have heard that after wagtails that lizards are the fastest way to 80, skipping the grey chins and the kebbits. you may want to look into that, I'm not sure. #3. Instead of the pictures you have, more pictures like the one showing the four spots where you hunt red chins would be helpful. As it is the pictures seem too overwhelming and kinda cluttered. #4. With huge guides like this hide tabs are nice! Great guide besides that, 8/10 because of the stuff I mentioned. P.S. To everyone who says that you can only catch 150-250 chins per hour... Don't hunt red chins because your hunter level fails at life. At 80 you can catch at least 250 an hour and the capture rate increases until at 99 you can catch about 450. If you're catching 150 an hour you would be better off at red salamanders for exp or grey chins for money.
  23. hmmm...I feel like I'm posting here a lot. Just a few notes that I wanted to let you know about. I just finished testing about 1 k kills with and 1 k kills without the ring of wealth. Seemed to me that with the wealth the only drops effected were a mild increase in the number of chaos runes, and since cosmics are worth more that is a bad thing, and an increase in the gem drops. All the other drops weren't effected by the wealth. Secondly a huge note it is that you can teleport out of the hut when you are in the spirit world. I don't know if everyone just knew that, but I didn't see it in the guide. Its a huge insurance to your drops when getting to the G.E. to sell them, avoiding the revs.
  24. Beautifully well done, 10/10. Thank you for helping me find a new way to woodcut when all other sources I've seen have told me that willows were the fastest exp. \
  25. I do agree that this is well done, but there is already one in the general guides that is "more" well done than this. If you are going to compete for AoW status I suggest looking at the other guides out there and try to add stuff that makes this original or more helpful.
