  1. I'll jump in here. I'm technically Catholic (Baptized, Confirmed, etc.), it's just that my family happens to believe some especially crazy [cabbage]. You see a major difference between Catholic and Protestant beliefs, because most Protestants use the not-even-close-to-a-proper-translation King James Version of the Bible. That's the one that went from Aramaic/Hebrew to Greek to Latin to French to German to Middle English or some nonsense along those lines. Not to mention that Luther literally removed verses and whole books from the Bible simply because he didn't like them. The current version of the Catholic Bible is usually Latin to the vernacular (in my case, the New American Version). Also, Matthew 5:17- Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Basically, this means that Jesus' teachings (see below) are more important than some crazy laws from Leviticus. Matthew 7:12- Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets. We can deduce from this that it is more important to treat everyone with dignity as equals than to kill someone for being the way that God made them. Anyway, sola scriptora (belief created by Martin Luther that the Bible alone is the rule for decisions and doctrine) doesn't make any logical sense to begin with. First of all, nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the only source of the faith (considering all the books were collected in like 325 AD). Secondly, who gets to interpret the meaning? You all know as well as I that millions of interpretations of the Bible exist. Third, who gave Luther authority to decide from the Bible that some Traditions of 1500 years should be cast out? Himself. Fourth, sola scriptora is unbiblical. 1 Tim 3:15- But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. 2 Thess 2:15- Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours. 1 Cor 11:2- I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you. 1 Thess 2:13- And for this reason we too give thanks to God unceasingly, that, in receiving the word of God from hearing us, you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the word of God, which is now at work in you who believe. I'm going to have to go out on a limb here and assume that the Church (est. 33 AD) has a little more weight than the Bible (est. 325 AD) in its interpretation. In addition, we all know that Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom to Peter. From there, there has been an unbroken line of successors to Peter as Popes, so as much as you all hate Benedict XVI, he still has authority. Since he was forced to be a part of the Hitler youth as all German children were, he must be a Nazi. Since he stuck up for priests that were later proven innocent (not the ones who were guilty), he must be a pedophile himself. Makes perfect sense. I'm not trying to defend any fairy tales here, but if you're going to criticize something into the ground, at least know what you're criticizing.
  2. The Church advocates evolution too, but there are plenty of my own family members who solemnly believe in creationism. My whole family thinks I'm a genius, a Republican, and super religious... I'm not. It kills me to nod and smile when they preach about creationism or how great Palin is. I'm more of an agnostic theist and an apathetic Libertarian these days. I love my family and all, but they can be so frustrating to associate with at times.
  3. I feel that this is relevant I was raised Catholic, but I'm not really religious. I do try to follow the Christian set of morals, though. Of course, I mean the actual morals talked about in the Gospels, not hating gay people for no reason (golden rule anyone?).
  4. @Duff http://forum.tip.it/topic/302244-forum-restructuring-give-your-input/ Right now I'm currently reading Brave New World. It's an interesting contrast to 1984.
  5. LOL As in, League of Legends. Never played it, but my PC gaming friends really enjoy it. I really hope Jagex doesn't win so they can get the message through their skulls. I don't care about some silly emote or item; two insignificant things are overshadowed by the annoyance of bots and Jagex's greed.
  6. Reminds me of everyone I associate with when the Wings make the playoffs.
  7. Try Last.fm and enter your favorite bands. It will give you a ton of recommendations for new artists and songs from artists you like that you haven't heard yet. It will show also related or similar bands to ones you like. For instance, similar bands to Rise Against are listed as: * Sum 41 * Billy Talent (One of my personal favorites) * Anti-Flag * Zebrahead * Strike Anywhere * Bullet For My Valentine * The Offspring
  8. You might have some bearing...if the person in question did not ALWAYS take Jagex's side...not matter what. Big difference then changing from being a bears fan to a Packers fan. Logic. TIF lacks it. I liked the part where you said Racheya always took Jagex's side "not matter what." [spoiler=Except for, you know...]http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=665 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=643 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=627 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=616 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=606 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=594 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=580 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=557 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=544 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=528 http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=451 and the list goes on. You summed it up well, though  .
  9. It's ironic you mention change and then assume a person who previously supported Jagex is required to support them indefinitely. That's like being a fan of an athlete and then being called a hypocrite for no longer supporting him after he's caught taking steroids. Also, you're making a pretty irrational assumption when you claim people who quit now have somehow automatically supported everything Jagex has done prior to these past few months. RuneScape is fun to play with a group of real life friends? Too bad all of my IRL friends were smart enough to quit years ago (as is the case with many of us). Who cares about the bots? Try the vast majority of players (hence the 9001 new bot rants every week). They make the game unbearable to play as training spots are filled beyond the traditional capacity and they skew prices of items to be a nuisance for real players. And this one single article somehow sets a non-existent "ugly tone" for people who still play? That's like saying your quality of life diminished because one person said "life sucks" to you once.
  10. More like earthquakes are the only exciting thing that can happen in a baseball game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb39vxLtJOs
  11. Can't say I've ever watched rugby before, but I'll make an effort to watch the USA vs. Aussie game at the least. Can anyone explain to me how the rugby world cup differs from the football/soccer world cup (how many teams move on per group, knock out stage, basic rules, etc)?
  12. I met that coach last year and know his son. I can't imagine what his family is going through right now
  13. If I get caught, I'll be sure to post it here
  14. Yeah, we had a change in administration last year and the new dean of students doesn't want to look like a pushover like the last guy. I've still never received a detention or any other serious punishment, but there are some students that warrant these types of rules. I had about 4 of my former teachers stick up for me after the coughing thing because they know I don't cause trouble. We're planning some pretty sweet senior pranks to get back at the new administration, so the end of the year should be fun.
  15. A few years ago at my school, some kids were caught smoking weed in their cars before classes began. So naturally, the solution to this was banning students from sitting in their cars before school. Last year, I pulled into school and my favorite song came on the radio, so I decided to stay in my car until the song was over. A teacher came over and knocked on my window and I had to go inside before the song was over. Later that year, they brought some dogs in to sniff out weapons, bombs, drugs, alcohol, etc. and I got caught with a road flare in the emergency kit in my car. They confiscated it and told me not to bring them anymore. I was also caught with a peanut butter sandwich in my lunch bag inside my locker during a locker inspection. Apparently it's a concern that the next student to have that locker could possibly be allergic to peanuts even though they thoroughly clean all the lockers over the summer. The last thing I was caught doing was coughing during an all school Mass when I was sick. Apparently it's disrespectful to be sick during Mass, but not allowed to stay home by your parents. So yeah, I'm pretty much a total rebel.
  16. My personal preference was always Puma, but I haven't played with official boots in a while. They actually fit well for an entire season and don't easily get destroyed with use. They're durable and comfortable, so they had my loyalty the last few seasons that I played.
  17. I'm finishing high school this year. I plan on majoring in Accounting and receiving public certification (CPA Exam). I also hope to earn an MBA on the way out, but we'll see about that. After my minimum experience at an accounting firm (probably H&R Block), I plan to work at an independent business (and work taxes on the side). Ford Motor Company has some pretty nice benefits and they pay well too. I've had a few family members work there, so I'll be aiming to begin my career there as well. Depending on my success, I may retire early to teach. It's a pretty optimistic plan, but I'm doing everything in my power to make it happen.
  18. I'm known in W64 for my disruptive behavior and offensive language (although limited to those who annoy me) and I haven't received a black mark since 2008. I've also had consecutive membership for the past 5.5 years. I'm not directly saying there's any correlation between the two, but if you were to put 2 and 2 together, Jagex is known for telling you it's 5. If I were obsessed with this game and had no pride, I could bot and get away with it unscathed. I've also had some friends directly tell me in game that they botted some skill for PKing on their main account at some point over the summer, and all of them were on yesterday when I did that new quest. Jagex values $ more than the responsibilities they have in regards to the rights of legitimate players.
  19. I BET IT'S SAILING [spoiler=and theirs blod!!!11111!eleven1]THIS IS THE STORY OF A DAY WHERE THERE WAS ALL THIS BLOOD. A MAN WAS WALKING AROUND AND BLOOD STARTED COMING OUT OF HIM EVERYWHERE. THERE WAS SO MUCH BLOOD THAT IT FILLED UP AN ELEVATOR. HE WENT TO THE STORE AND THERE WAS JUST BLOOD ALL OVER THE PLACE! PEOPLE WERE SLIPPING IN IT AND THEY WERE ALL GROSSED OUT. HE TRIED TO GO SWIMMING AND ALL OF THE SHARKS WENT NUTS AND BITTENED EVERYBODY. HE GOT CHASED BY ALL THE VAMPIRES EVER. ONE TIME THE BLOOD GOT A KID AND A DOG. AT THE END OF THE DAY EVERYONE DECIDED THEY WOULD SEND HIM TO SPACE SO THAT HE WOULD STOP GETTING BLOOD EVERY WHERE. THE SCARIEST PART IS THAT THE MAN WAS YOU!!! (OR HE WAS A LADY IF YOU ARE A LADY) AND YOU FORGOT THAT THIS HAPPENED.
  20. Arsenal lost too many of their better players during the off season, including their skipper. It's no surprise they fell apart when they have to play a bunch of second string players. Then again, Manchester United are looking like the best club in Europe at this early point in the season.
  21. I would recommend Shawshank Redemption and my personal favorite Gran Torino. Gran Torino was Clint Eastwood's last performance. He was outstanding in his role, but the supporting actors weren't so good. The movie takes you on an emotional roller coaster from sympathy, to laughter, to sorrow. There is a lot of racism in the film, though, so be careful of whom you watch it around, if you do decide to watch it.
  22. I haven't seen an ad anywhere since 2008 on my own computer. Firefox + AdBlock Plus = problem solved.
