  1. Best game in a while. Oh, and that 3rd period Why on Earth they got rid of Nabokov for Niemi still puzzles me.
  2. Love the second article. Writing was done well and organized. Also pretty much summed up my thoughts on the issues (minus the Archaeology Skill which I have no opinion of). When Construction first came out, I remember how excited I was. Being able to design your own unique home which actually had a practical application was something I greatly applauded Jagex for. Hunter was alright, nothing really to complain about; it was an interesting (yet limited) concept that was implemented well imo. Summoning is a skill I hate. In all honesty, I can't remember the last time I've seen anyone use anything other than a healing, BoB, or titan familiar. Healing familiars are still redundant, but there merely to promote afk/lazy training or the Unicorn at bosses by those who can't brew/restore combo. BoBs are a good thing, but unnecessary. Jagex didn't need to make bosses like Nomad require a ton of food when you ended up literally just doing the same 3 things all over. That wasn't addressing the "skill" required to kill Nomad, but how long you could do the same thing over and over (aka grinding), which has no place in quests. Let's not forget those who use BoBs for skills; Jagex could have easily changed stacking (e.g. two logs per inventory space) instead of releasing a skill trained like RuneCrafting except you lose money (and don't even get me started on collecting charms). Titans are used in PvP, which most players don't even partake in more than once in a while. But guess what? If you use a titan, your combat level goes up by double digits, so if you fight anyone else your level, they're going to have the same exact thing, thus rendering each player's titan obsolete (it's just as pointless as having duels with food/drinks allowed). Dungeoneering is unique in that the grinding is dynamic. You will run into the exact same puzzles and bosses constantly, but [sarcasm]what makes it not grinding is that the order changes... that totally means something!!111![/sarcasm] I do like some of the rewards, which just improve gameplay ever so slightly (bonecrusher, gem bag, herbicide, etc). Sorry, not going to spend months of my life getting a a sword which will be outclassed within a year anyway. The few that still believe Dung is a skill, all I have to say is that denial is not a river in Egypt. I see it similar to buyer's remorse. Once they've already wasted time and resources on it, they feel the need to justify their (wasteful) purchase/time spent by trying to convince others about how great it is. Spoiler alert: it's not. That's not to say I don't believe there are those who genuinely enjoy it, but some people enjoy training RC too . To each, his own, I suppose. Based on previous discussions on the issue, inb4: -"If I can just find one example stating otherwise, he's automatically wrong!!@" -"Hmm, can't say he hasn't trained any of the skills, so I'll say he hasn't trained them so much as I have." -"Tl;dr but still going to reply to one or two sentences anyway and try to justify laziness by attacking the writing style."
  3. When I'm in a bad mood, I have a special play list in iTunes with only my top favorite songs (top 25) that I play while looking at funny pictures I've saved over the years. Helps to put me back in a good mood. Laughter is a great cure for being upset. It sounds cheesy, I know, but it really does help.
  4. I don't understand the mentality of this. Why should something be super exclusive - why can't we just enjoy a cape even if it's not super exclusive? It's not like the stats of the items decrease if tons of other people have it? I'm a little confused by this all. I'm really interested in seeing the stats of some of these capes - and I do think that it's a nice touch to the game. It's not like Jagex can really keep unloading new weapons/armor all the time - so update something that doesn't have too much variety to it i.e capes. I don't really care about the stats, to be honest. I don't understand why anyone would think there would be stats on the RSC cape actually. It's meant to represent the fact that you played RSC, not be better than or close to being equal to a Skillcape, Firecape, or Soul Wars Cape. On that note, it should be representing original RSC players (regardless of if they logged in during the 6 month period or whatever) from before the close in August 2005, not players who joined in 2008 that logged into RSC once. It shouldn't be exclusive in the sense of "OMG only I should be able to have this!@!" but rather it should be exclusive to those who, you know, actually played the game.
  5. RSC Cape looks cool (with a nice emote too) at least. It would be cool if it were more exclusive, but players who could never get it would rant to no end. I think it was a fair compromise on Jagex's behalf.
  6. Lots of diving from the Sharks these past two games... Luckily the refs ignored it for the most part tonight. I think if Howard keeps playing the way he did, the Wings can still take the series. Semi-Related Note: Lol @ SJ fans at the game. "(Wing's Player Here) Sucks" isn't a cheer (very diverse vocabulary there). "Great" fans (who finished 17th out of 30 in the league for average attendance) who don't know how to behave at a hockey game. Probably just hipsters trying to be "unique" by watching a sport no one else in the area watches . Or, you know, just random bandwagon fans.
  7. Except you could three years ago, why is it rising so fast now? Summer of 2009/26k trick inflation is hitting the free market now. A main only ever needs to buy the pages once if ever.
  8. Now that free trade is back, pures (who need Zammy book) can easily transfer money from their main accounts. Increase in demand with relatively stable supply.
  9. I have a bonecrusher. It's really only useful for clearing the floor of bone drops. I killed thousands of giant skeletons for 99 defence (with salve ammy) and the xp gain using bonecrusher was minimal.
  10. Montreal is my second favorite team :( . Suban had a pretty sweet goal at least and his celebration made me laugh. Oh well, I like Boston too, and now two of the roughest teams get to beat each other to a pulp  Predictions: Canucks in 6 Flyers in 7 Wings in 5 Caps in 7 SJ isn't playing well at all. Based on their performance against LA, I don't think they can win more than maybe one home game. On the other side, Detroit is on fire right now and I think they have the momentum to keep going. Haven't watched the Caps play once this year, except against the Penguins. I think they're a better team than Tampa, but after Tampa's performance against the Pens, I think they'll take the Caps to 7 games. I think the series against Chicago served as a nice wake up call to Van. I think they'll beat Nashville who, in my opinion, is a worse team than Chicago. Hoping Boston/Philly is a war of attrition. Whoever is least tired/beaten up by the end will take it. I think Philly can win with better goal scorers, though. I think the only reason the Sabres made it so far was Miller (which would explain the relatively low goal scoring). Overall, the playoffs this year have been absolutely fantastic. Regardless of who wins, it should be great to watch the rest of the games.

No. Why do their positions (in terms of royalty) even exist anymore? They're just there for show it seems, which, imo, is a huge waste of money. Seems like the media is just over-hyping this for a quick buck.
  12. Speaking of Unsavory Suggestions...
  13. It's something that would work well at my school. Since it's a private school, the parents (or in my case grandparents) lay down so much cash that the students pretty much all care about school. I don't know where the OP goes to school, but if the student body is generally apathetic about school/college, you may be right.
  14. Try to play off students' emotion. Bring up some annual thing that maybe didn't go so well this year and promise to improve on it. Promise more dances (even though it never happens). Give some sort of candy/snack out with labels on each one with your name on it. When they see the ballot, chances are they won't know anyone, but they'll recognize your name, so they'll probably choose you. Also, if all else fails: funny = votes. Edit: Don't forget to bring up you're GPA if it's around a 4.0 (or "no grade below a B") and things like National Honor Society. If I were to run my campaign would consist of putting labels with my name on them onto Hershey Bars and passing them out at lunch. If allowed I would put posters up in the hallways. In my speech, I would mention how disappointing the year was for sports for us so we can be a better class than the seniors (try to bring huge student sections to more than just football games, etc.). I would mention academic strengths like my 3.9 GPA, no grade below a B, National Honor Society, tutoring a freshmen in Algebra and English, and making free study guides for finals that I pass out online. I would then bring up my 60+ volunteer hours since 2007 and how I have never received a detention. Or, of course, be the Football captain (which I'm not) and win a popularity contest. Pro Tip: Don't let anyone know you play RS.
  15. When I was going for 99 Defence a few months ago, I was aiming to train with my Salve Amulet (e) to increase my attack and strength bonus. I also noticed that not every monster with "Undead" in its category gave me a bonus with my Salve Amulet. I was wondering if it would be possible to put "Undead (s)" for the category of Undead monsters who would give you the bonus with the Salve Amulet. For both the Bestiary and the Shop's Database, I was wondering if a Unique Item/Drop column would be useful for adding. For instance, next to Jad would read Friecape or next to Corp would be Sigils/Elixir and next to Faruq's Tools for Games would be Marker Seeds etc. Under the Items Database, I was wondering if a column for "Use" would be practical. Here are some examples (the slash represents a new column): Items/Use or Origin Lobster/Heals 120 LP Rubber Chicken/Easter 2005 Reward Dark Dagger/Legend's Quest Korasi's Sword/Spec.: 100% accuracy Acorn/15 Farming: 481xp Bandos Chestplate/65 Defence Sacred Clay/Stealing Creation Crystal Saw/Invisible +3 Con. bonus Penance Horn/2x xp to Agility, FM, Mining
  16. Their rule is that as long as the number of human inputs equals the number of outputs, you're good.
  17. Buckets of slime were available to purchase from the charter ship stores. I miss when maximum utility was also pretty efficient. The mansion that used to be where the party room is now. 1k bs = d long >when bs meant bowstring Before Jagex tried to attract more kiddies by pointlessly multiplying hits by 10 and putting pixel women on the front page. When Miniclip generation ruined RS (oh wait no we didn't and RS was at its prime 2 years later in 2006) Back in RSC when every bot was called Icarian_____ for a while. Skillers had Fish N Mine or some variation of that in their name. Gray walls of Falador and the guy upstairs in the Furnace building who talked about the future revamp of Varrock
  18. I thought it wasn't possible for a 1 seed to play a 2 or 3 seed outside the semi finals. Aren't the teams reseeded in lieu of an upset so the highest seeded team still plays the lowest seeded team? Vancouver can't play San Jose or Detroit until the third round, as far as I know.
  19. Nice sweep by the Wings tonight  [spoiler=Winnipeg Jets]I wonder why that had to happen...
  20. ^That was my brother's defense every time he finished in the 25th percentile.
  21. Then I ask again: how do you keep track of how well a teacher teaches in comparison to their coworkers? Isn't this what standardized tests are for? I'm not saying to the degree of No Child Left Behind (which was horrible), but if one teacher legitimately teaches, his/her students should be doing much better than students whose teacher shows them movies all day on these standardized tests. The cheating that teachers go through can easily be mended by immediate collection of the test materials (maybe one government official/assistant appointed per school on testing days). At my (private) school, each department (Mathematics, Science, English, Social Studies, Business, Foreign Language, Fine Arts, Computer Science, Physical Education, and probably some more I'm forgetting) has a Department Head (usually the most senior teacher from the department) who will sit in on classes of other teachers in their department sporadically throughout the school year (the principal sits in on the Department Heads' classes). They do teacher evaluations for every teacher twice a year. In addition to this, every teacher has a one year contract only, so if he/she just plain sucks at teaching, they won't be coming back the next year. In addition, for any given class, (e.g. English III or Algebra II), every class of that specific subject, regardless of the teacher, is administered the same final exam. Scores are submitted to the vice-principal before any final marks are given out. He evaluates it so if one teacher's classes did significantly worse than another, the matter is investigated. The system seems to work pretty well as many of the bad teachers have been fired as a result. I'm not saying this would work at every school, but we end up with more National Merit Scholars, higher average ACT/SAT/PSAT scores, and more students' going off to more prestigious universities than any other similar sized school in the state. Honestly, in all my years at this school, I have encountered only one bad teacher (and 9 outstanding teachers), which I think is pretty good for a faculty of 73.
  22. Yeah that sounds like something Governor Snyder would change. Teachers who can't teach aren't limited to public schools. At my (private) school, my chem teacher has been around for over 20 years and she is honestly stupider than half the students.
  23. I agree with you to a certain degree. I don't know how things work in Texas, but in Michigan if a public school teacher has had his job for 4 (maybe it was 5) years at the same school, he can't be fired unless he breaks the law. So essentially, you can show a film every day or have students read out of their text book out loud while making the same as someone who teaches well.
