  1. I was wondering if it's possible to obtain Robes of Elidiness without having the requirements to complete the quest and if it's possible to obtain a Bear Head without having beaten Fremenik Trials. This obviously doesn't apply to me, as I have a quest cape, but I'm asking for a buddy of mine who wants to know. Thanks in advance.
  2. You do realise that tinderboxes exist irl? Not quite what I meant. I was more so referring to dropping its contents alone onto a log and having it light. Enchant + imbune?
  3. I assume DFS will have a damage soak bonus on it, so I'm not quite sure why it's crashing lol. I assume if you were to have two maxed combat-ers dueling with the only difference being the DFS vs Dragon Defender, that the individual with the DFS would win the majority of the time.
  4. Has nothing to do with realism but the simple fact that it's called the Ring of Stone because of the enchantment on it, which creates the illusion that you're a lump of stone. Once you're hit, this illusion is gone. It's not called a ring of stone because it's made of stone, which is what the person I was quoting alluded to when he proposed it gave defense stats because of it. Still doesn't change the fact that no matter what you do to this ring, it will end up being useless in its enchanted form because of the huge cost of onyx unless they release ring of stones as a monster drop. This was done with the Regen Brace, and after people had tons of these useless items built up from corp they had to change its stats. Yet even still, the Regen Brace it's still arguably useless when you obtain rune or even barrows gloves at a fraction of the price! This is true. I suppose you're right about both considering the price of an onyx and it's difficulty to obtain one. Solution? Bring back the fire rune trick.
  5. This is good except for the use of Karil's. If you die as much as I did, barrows is a very bad idea, considering it degrades to 0 upon even one death.
  6. It's not made of stone though, it's made of onyx. The enchantment on the ring is what gives the ring its name. Worse still, if this onyx ring gave defense bonuses comparable to other stone armor we have--namely granite--would you call it even superior to a Warrior Ring? Or even a Diamond Ring (i)? Most likely not, especially considering the price tag for it. The biggest hindrance to changing this ring is the materials used to make it. Putting effort into reworking this item, like they had with the Regen Brace, seems like wasted effort. I could even have a problem understanding whether or not a graphical update would be sensible, since the old mining rock style is still around as decoration. Not to go too off-topic, but RS isn't exactly meant to be realistic. Just think: Magic, firemaking with a box, and the quest Perils of Ice Mountain, none of which occur in our world. Furthermore, as with our current rings, they aren't directly hit, and are, at the same time, enchanted magically to hold properties it wouldn't normally have had. This seems perfect to me.
  7. Or with the name "Ring of Stone" it could give some defense bonuses and actually have the ability to be worn.
  8. Looks like we will need our Gre-Gres.
  9. This is exactly how I feel. Even though I'm probably the most inefficient player (185+ days of game time in nearly 7 years with a 2k total) on the board, I stopped getting involved with the efficiency vs. fun debates after my Tip.It Times article and the boss-crashing topic. Some people get so worked up about a game. We shouldn't have to worry whether we will be flamed for posting on the fan site that is supposed to have the most mature community. Referring to the individual who said the "efficiency clowns" come from RSOF, I disagree. It's the new members we get from Tip.It's having Platinum Status on the RSOF that brings in the people obsessed with community. Like that one user who made like 9,001 topics in GD (as if they were on RSOF still) and got flamed by the same "efficiency clowns" in each one. I haven't seen them post in a while, so we did a great job scaring them off, right guys  ? I'm sure that helped their feelings of elitism over the verbal majority of the board. Not to say the "inefficient noobs" like myself don't contribute to the flame war (it takes two to tango). I think we just need to agree that we disagree. When I use H&A, there's always multiple response: ones boasting peak efficiency and ones for casuals. I couldn't care less about maximizing efficiency, so I usually take advice for casuals. Maybe in those threads instead of arguing over a battle that can NOT be won of personal preference, we should post all options and leave it at that. Truce, anyone?
  10. I generally participate in General Discussion and Off-Topic. I noticed this problem a while back but figured the thread would only cause more flaming of me. I agree with statements made earlier in the thread regarding Tip.It's users all think they know best over a given subject. Admittedly, that includes me. I, too, have a list of users I would have to see banned (none of which have posted in this thread yet), and I'm sure some feel the same way about me. In fact, almost every post I make gets flamed (probably because of my low post count). I read somewhere (local newspaper, I believe) back during the American election season of 2008 that when an individual from one side of an argument makes a statement, a member of the other side will instantly disagree with it, based on a previous and unrelated argument. Because of this, I feel this will continue so long as the the efficiency debates continue. In regard to Off-Topic, their main problem is the individuals who think anyone who still plays RS that posts there is a troll. When I go there, I try to offer my input (which is usually contrary to the majority of the board) to offer some diversity to the discussion. Of course, it ends with my being flamed for having a different opinion, being called a troll, or just a general vulgar response. The only individual that I "flame" would be the user (whom I won't name) who plays WoW but feels the need to talk about how much better it is than RS at any opportunity he gets in a RuneScape board (not even referring OT), and if anyone disagrees with him about how WoW is better than RS, they are met with a one-line, conceited, condescending, and arrogant reply about how "you're a kid" and how he "knows so much more than you." If he is not an obvious troll, I don't know who is. And because I decide to put all of my thoughts into one post, as opposed to spamming the board with multiple ones, the "tl;dr" attitude of the majority of the users makes me want to post more when I totally get a response. Hence, my low post count. Seems like a vicious cycle, eh? Yeah, it does. I'm sure I'm not alone in the pattern of "Oh I haven't posted in a while, why don't I contribute to this thread? No response, maybe I'll post again? Flaming? Maybe I won't post in this thread anymore. Hmm, let's check out this thread. Oh it's the same guy from the last one that flamed me. Let's check out one last thread in this board. Alright there's my really long post explaining how I feel. It's only been 20 minutes I'm sure someone will reply eventually. Alright, let's just check another board. Hmm same old boring threads... wait a new one! Oh never mind just another flame war, I won't even bother with this one. Well, back to what I was doing before I went to TIF!" And the obligatory, inb4flaming-that's-not-flaming-by-your-definition-so-this-obviously-doesn't-apply-to-you, tll;dr, or my personal favorite, no reply at all <_< .

Catholics don't even use a "full" Bible. There are more than 80 gospels that didn't make the cut into the Bible that we know today. (Gospel of Mary Magdalene, Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, Gospel of Truth, Secret Gospel of Mark, Infancy Gospel of Thomas, and Infancy Gospel of James to name a few) The early Ecumenical Councils (Council of Jerusalem, I believe) deemed those works non-cannon, as they didn't preach the true message of Jesus (considering the apostles present there knew him), save the Gospel of Thomas (which I'm not too familiar with). For instance, if anyone here is familiar with the Gospel of Greed, one (who is not trolling) knows that the man depicted as Jesus was the polar of opposite of how he appears in the 4 Gospels. Besides, the Apocrypha was written long before Jesus was born. For the cheesy explanation, we feel that the authors of those Gospels were not writing the inspired word of God, rather their own ideas. And, of course, those books were never part of the Bible to begin with. One could argue that, say, the Epic of Gilgamesh is missing from the Bible if you're going to count any written work as a missing book of the Bible.

Martin Luther removed books of the Bible following his Protestant Reformation, including Sirach. The Catholics are the only ones (that I know of) that use the full Bible. The removal was purely political, of course, but stuck to this day for one reason or another. On-Topic Edit: The essay was well-written with strong arguments. Most people already know how I feel about the subject (support), but I usually get flamed because of my reasoning, so I'll stay away from that.
  13. I had the same problem. It's kind of frustrating. I even got asked the same thing at ivy. I just want 14m xp.
  14. First of all, I'm a Catholic who has been in Catholic school for almost 12 years (I'll try not to bore anyone with the "cheesy" details). If you think our theology classes are just "Jesus is good," you're wrong. Based on a study of the New Testament and Church History, we do NOT base our teachings solely on what Jesus said. Matthew 16:18 states "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it." We use this as the basis for regarding Peter as our first Pope (considering he led the Church after Pentecost and whatnot). Because of this, we have a Church with a body of laws known as the Catechism of the Catholic Church. On the issue of birth control/contraceptives relevant to this thread, it states: "The regulation of births represents one of the aspects of responsible fatherhood and motherhood. Legitimate intentions on the part of the spouses do not justify recourse to morally unacceptable means (for example, direct sterilization or contraception)." It's referring here to Natural Family Planning with some statistic (that I don't know the truth of) that a woman is only fertile 4-5 days per month. The Church only sees sex as a way to bring about new life, which is why it opposes same-sex marriage (but also teaches that they're just called to a life of chastity). In regards to the obvious trolls who have a hatred for religion in general that seem to enjoy mentioning priests' molesting of children, you do know we can never take you seriously, right? No lay (that is, one who is not a priest, deacon, bishop, cardinal, monk, nun, or the Pope) member of the Church has any condolences for priests who molest children. No one wants to defend them. Unfortunately for us, as mentioned earlier, there are Atheist trolls who, out of nothing but a simple hatred for religion, will make an ass out of their self by saying how the church supposedly supports molesting children or some bull[cabbage]. But then these same trolls try to cite something from HUNDREDS of years ago, that NO Catholic alive today either supports or was around when it occurred, that think we still support the Inquisition or the crusades. And following that, once again the same trolls think the Catholic church still denies evolution. WRONG. The Catholic Church believes that the scientists have it right about the big bang and evolution, except that we acknowledge that something set the universe in motion. And then the REALLY clever ones like to mention some sort of floating pasta bowl as proof that anything could have done that. While it's funny for 5 seconds, we believe that the roots of our religion, historically speaking, are much stronger than those of Mormons, Scientologists, Muslims, or Pastafarianists. Finally, the science behind condoms' stopping STDs is inconclusive at best. While, yes, they prevent the majority of STDs, they won't stop HPV (as it's skin-to-skin contact). If teens (or anyone else) are going to have sex outside of marriage, I believe they should wear a condom. It certainly beats the alternative of not wearing one if they won't have a child anyway, but that's a different thread. Tl;dr: Ignorance is bliss, right  ? 16. Not the exact one I was remembering, but it has the same general information. Thank you, sir.
  17. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. This is the best place to post it, I'm looking for the old thread that talks about all of the "real life" references hidden in RuneScape or real life things RS lore is based on. Not to be confused with the thread about "what rs has taught you" or whatever. Any help would be appreciated.

  19. MagikJak is a pretty sensible clan. Nobody in there (from my experience) cares about rushing. Well they do rush, but they don't get mad if it's longer than 30 minutes or something. It's not very large, so don't expect to always be able to find someone on the floor you're on.
  20. 17,187 xp/hr. 180 days of play time (I know of at least 2 people who obtained all 99s [no Dungeoneering] in a shorter period of time), 70M-ish xp, and six and a half years of this account. First two years were on RSC, then I basically had to start over again on a new game (RS2). I like to have fun on RuneScape instead of forcing myself to skill or kill constantly (especially at maximum efficiency). Probably why I'm still around after 6.5 years (of complaining about the game).
  21. Dev Blog Not to advertize, but I think there was some Tip.It Times Article related to this? A Path Less Travelled :-w
  22. ISTJ Strength of the preferences %: Introverted 100% Sensing 12% Thinking 62% Judging 78% You are: * very expressed introvert * slightly expressed sensing personality * distinctively expressed thinking personality * very expressed judging personality [spoiler=The Duty Fulfiller]As an ISTJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you take things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things rationally and logically. ISTJs are quiet and reserved individuals who are interested in security and peaceful living. They have a strongly-felt internal sense of duty, which lends them a serious air and the motivation to follow through on tasks. Organized and methodical in their approach, they can generally succeed at any task which they undertake. ISTJs are very loyal, faithful, and dependable. They place great importance on honesty and integrity. They are "good citizens" who can be depended on to do the right thing for their families and communities. While they generally take things very seriously, they also usually have an offbeat sense of humor and can be a lot of fun - especially at family or work-related gatherings. ISTJs tend to believe in laws and traditions, and expect the same from others. They're not comfortable with breaking laws or going against the rules. If they are able to see a good reason for stepping outside of the established mode of doing things, the ISTJ will support that effort. However, ISTJs more often tend to believe that things should be done according to procedures and plans. If an ISTJ has not developed their Intuitive side sufficiently, they may become overly obsessed with structure, and insist on doing everything "by the book". The ISTJ is extremely dependable on following through with things which he or she has promised. For this reason, they sometimes get more and more work piled on them. Because the ISTJ has such a strong sense of duty, they may have a difficult time saying "no" when they are given more work than they can reasonably handle. For this reason, the ISTJ often works long hours, and may be unwittingly taken advantage of. The ISTJ will work for long periods of time and put tremendous amounts of energy into doing any task which they see as important to fulfilling a goal. However, they will resist putting energy into things which don't make sense to them, or for which they can't see a practical application. They prefer to work alone, but work well in teams when the situation demands it. They like to be accountable for their actions, and enjoy being in positions of authority. The ISTJ has little use for theory or abstract thinking, unless the practical application is clear. ISTJs have tremendous respect for facts. They hold a tremendous store of facts within themselves, which they have gathered through their Sensing preference. They may have difficulty understanding a theory or idea which is different from their own perspective. However, if they are shown the importance or relevance of the idea to someone who they respect or care about, the idea becomes a fact, which the ISTJ will internalize and support. Once the ISTJ supports a cause or idea, he or she will stop at no lengths to ensure that they are doing their duty of giving support where support is needed. The ISTJ is not naturally in tune with their own feelings and the feelings of others. They may have difficulty picking up on emotional needs immediately, as they are presented. Being perfectionists themselves, they have a tendency to take other people's efforts for granted, like they take their own efforts for granted. They need to remember to pat people on the back once in a while. ISTJs are likely to be uncomfortable expressing affection and emotion to others. However, their strong sense of duty and the ability to see what needs to be done in any situation usually allows them to overcome their natural reservations, and they are usually quite supporting and caring individuals with the people that they love. Once the ISTJ realizes the emotional needs of those who are close to them, they put forth effort to meet those needs. The ISTJ is extremely faithful and loyal. Traditional and family-minded, they will put forth great amounts of effort at making their homes and families running smoothly. They are responsible parents, taking their parenting roles seriously. They are usually good and generous providers to their families. They care deeply about those close to them, although they usually are not comfortable with expressing their love. The ISTJ is likely to express their affection through actions, rather than through words. ISTJs have an excellent ability to take any task and define it, organize it, plan it, and implement it through to completion. They are very hard workers, who do not allow obstacles to get in the way of performing their duties. They do not usually give themselves enough credit for their achievements, seeing their accomplishments simply as the natural fulfillment of their obligations. ISTJs usually have a great sense of space and function, and artistic appreciation. Their homes are likely to be tastefully furnished and immaculately maintained. They are acutely aware of their senses, and want to be in surroundings which fit their need for structure, order, and beauty. Under stress, ISTJs may fall into "catastrophe mode", where they see nothing but all of the possibilities of what could go wrong. They will berate themselves for things which they should have done differently, or duties which they failed to perform. They will lose their ability to see things calmly and reasonably, and will depress themselves with their visions of doom. In general, the ISTJ has a tremendous amount of potential. Capable, logical, reasonable, and effective individuals with a deeply driven desire to promote security and peaceful living, the ISTJ has what it takes to be highly effective at achieving their chosen goals - whatever they may be. Jungian functional preference ordering: Dominant: Introverted Sensing Auxiliary: Extraverted Thinking Tertiary: Introverted Feeling Inferior: Extraverted Intuition Fits me well, I guess.
  23. PvP still exists, just in a rather non-traditional sense. There is whole-world PvP (on select servers) and Bounty Hunter, which takes place in the wilderness. Both automatically skull you upon entering the worlds, and on select BH worlds, you automatically keep one item. As opposed to back in 2007, instead of receiving your opponent's inventory upon his death, drops are randomly generated based on "earning potential." That is, the longer you stand in a dangerous area with 76k+ worth of items risked, the higher it will be. Grand Exchange is a great tool. Sure, it exists at the cost of free trade, but it makes buying/selling thing infinitely easier. Each item has a maximum and minimum, and will fluctuate by the law of supply and demand. One problem, though, is that now raw materials are worth less than their finished products. As F2P, rune armor is still pretty much the best, save degradable corrupt dragon armor and rewards from Fist of Guthix. Also, you should work on obtaining Explorer's Ring 3 (or 4 if you can), as it will automatically teleport you to the cabbage patch north of Port Sarim. You mentioned fishing, but I believe there is a man on the island of Karamja (south of the volcano I believe) who will either note or bank your raw fish for you, so that should make it a little easier. Dungeoneering is merely a mini-game presented as a skill by Jagex. The rewards are great, though. Some you may be interested in... Gem bag- Can hold up to 100 Sapphires, Emeralds, Rubies, or Diamonds (total, not each). Coal bag- Can hold up to 27 pieces of coal. Coal in the bag will be used before coal in the inventory when superheating or smelting. Longbow sight- Increases the ranged attack of a maple longbow to 110 and a magic longbow to 140. Scroll of Efficiency- Once used, the scroll will disappear, giving you the following permanent effect: whenever you smith an item that requires three or more bars to create, there is a chance that you will retain a bar. Magical Blastbox- Used to hold the runes for and bolt or blast spell in a single inventory space. Arcane pulse/blast necklace- Worn in the amulet slot, these necklaces boost your Magic Damage as follows: * Arcane pulse necklace: +5% Magic Damage * Arcane blast necklace: +10% Magic Damage Tome of frost- Wielded in the shield slot, the Tome of Frost provides an infinite stock of Water runes. Gravite weapons- When you buy Gravite weapons, they are automatically set at 20% charge. A fully charged Gravite weapon lasts for 10 hours of combat. You can recharge these weapons at the rewards trader for a fee of cash or a combination of cash and Dungeoneering tokens. These are much stronger than their rune counterparts.
  24. I don't recall saying I was a Republican. I don't like looking at issues as whether or not it's Republican/Democrat, but rather what I believe. Obviously, I cannot vote yet. In two years, come election time, I will be able to vote. If the Republics offer a figure like Sarah Palin, I can assure you my vote for Obama. If the Republicans can offer someone like Tim Pawlenty, on the other hand, he will get my vote. I'm well aware that political pundits on both sides are equally bad (I mentioned Keith Olberman, no?), but it's especially strong from the Republican side. I don't like hearing opinionated crap from CNN, MSNBC, CBS, or Fox News, regardless. I wouldn't consider myself a centrist per se, but more of a moderate conservative. I don't like the extreme of either side, as I've said before. You have the Dawkins-reading, Atheist blowhards on one side (not to offend this whole forum  ), and the Bible-thumping creationists on the other. Two years ago, I would have been the latter, but that's when I only believed whatever my parents said about politics. Again, though, I hate the idea of political parties in general, but that's how the nation developed after Washington, unfortunately.
