So you've been around the block?
Chronological Order- -March 2004: I'm your typical Miniclip generation player (friends of my brother found it on Miniclip). I was 9 when I signed up (there was no age limit then) four days before RS2 came out. -2004: Going to Zamorak monks in RSC (the place with the Zammy wine), picking up the steel maces that others left on the ground, and selling them to the mace shop in Falador. I thought that was good money lol. -2004: The empty mansion in Falador in RSC (caught a guy drop trading there and got 3 R2H's + str ammy as a nub). -Christmas 2004: Waking up at 4 AM Christmas morning to play RS and get the "Christmas drop" (this was RSC, bear in mind). -Easter 2005: Logging into RS2 for the first time just to get a Rubber Chicken. -August 2005: Crying when I couldn't play RSC anymore when they closed it off to F2P (later became P2P and now I have a "Veteran" account). -January 2006: First update I remember was Mage Training Arena (never paid attention to updates until I became P2P). -June 2006: I remember being on the computer and telling my brother (who was downstairs on the Gamecube) that Player Owned Houses came out. He promptly kicked me off the computer and locked himself in the room the rest of the day (he was 14 and I was 12). I still think Construction is new. -December 2007: Giving gifts to all of my closest friends before the trade limit update. Lost a bunch of old friends after the update that ensued . Anyone that never played RS before 2008 does not know what they missed out on, in the good old days . I would trade my whole RS bank to go back to a day in Summer '07 and play. Those were the days... Fun fact: I'm on the same computer that I used to create my account (Windows XP ftw). I've had 0 problems in the 6+ years with this computer, luckily (Windows XP  ).

Stick to your commitments
I read your rant 4 times and it still doesn't make that much sense. So I'll assume maybe one of your RS friends said they would duo or something with you and then they made a lame excuse to get out of it? Assuming that is correct (or just the general idea), I hate that behavior too. People don't seem to understand that going back on commitments of any "importance" are commitments nonetheless. It has happened to me and, hell, I've done it before. I was pissed at my friend and I feel bad for what I did too. In short, I agree with what I understood of your rant. People need to grow up.

Football (Soccer) Questions
Thank you for the replies, everyone. Sorry that I am late to respond. I was watching Manchester United slaughter MLS :???: . Anyway, my cable sports package provides showings of all American, English, Spanish, and Italian Premier matches, so not being able to view a game is not really a problem. I'll pick a team to follow from each league and make sure to catch the big rivalry games as well. Thanks again for the help, guys.

Football (Soccer) Questions
I used to play football (soccer) as a kid so I know the rules and how the game works. I never really started watching it on television until this World Cup and I'm interested in watching more now (much better than watching American football imo). However, I don't really understand the way world football works. Also, I would prefer explanations over links :-). What are the major international tournaments for national teams (other than Brazil '14), and when/how often do they occur? I noticed that the United States plays Brazil on the 10th of August. When are International Friendlies generally played? When are the World Cup qualifiers and how does the whole qualifying process work? How are groups determined (as in which teams are in what group)? What are the biggest rivalries for international teams, as well as in the English, Spanish, and Italian clubs? What is the Club World Cup and how does its qualifying work? Thanks in advance.

Storyline to Nomad's Requiem?
Elite Black Armor: "Ah... Lord Surok! Lord Lucien is 'recruiting', you can observe from the top of the chapel." - Elite Black Knight Addressing a separate issue, a while back Jagex said they would release a cape in RS2 for those of us who played RSC. Several months later in a Q&A, I asked about it and MMG told me (post 9) it wasn't going to happen anymore. Jagex can go back on anything they say, so regardless of whether or not a mod said Nomad is unrelated to a certain storyline, it is not a valid argument by any means.

Daily Activities for GP
Buying Raw Bird Meat isn't 100k+ profit, but ~40k. BTW, you should really only collect MTK every 10 days, not 7 for maximum profit (from bonuses like caskets and herb seeds).

Oh look! A player mod! He must be a jerk and reports people all the time!
I have legitimate reasons to distrust mods. In April of 2008, I was permanently muted. I looked over the rules, I looked them over again, and I looked them over a third time. I broke no rules. The statement I made was (jokingly) "lol Usa owns Aussie." Guess what cretin was standing next to the the people I was "arguing" with and I? Oh, a mod (who just so happened to be Australian). So I had the normal reaction when I received an inbox notification. I sent in a 2 paragraph appeal. Five SECONDS after I hit the send button, my appeal was rejected. FIVE SECONDS. Combine power abusing p mods with Jagex's 50/50 appeal-acceptance-system, and you have a disaster waiting to happen. (Side-note: Someone got away with saying their dog jumped on the keyboard and typed obscenities). Maybe if Jagex actually read appeals REGARDLESS of who reported whom, then I wouldn't care. Secondly, despite the Disruptive Behavior rule ONLY referring to spamming and/or flooding the chat window, I am reported for it on a daily basis (despite NEVER spamming or flooding the chat window). I can be firemaking in the same two "spots" for hours on end, and an individual will still insist on taking my spot. In that instance, I plant flowers all around, forcing them to leave or wait. The individuals (including at least three mods I have encountered) always report me for Disruptive Behavior. So far I have a grand total of 0 blackmarks for this offense (or any others anymore). It's sad that even the mods don't actually know the rules that they're meant to enforce. There's all of the "evidence" you've been asking for. I have met five cool mods in my 6 years on RuneScape. The rest have been power abusing, overall jerks, and/or clueless of the rules. While not all mods are those characteristics, the majority that I have encountered are one or more of those traits.

Reveal Confessions, Secrets & Regrets...
Secret: I just read all 85 pages (40 posts per page) of this thread. I realized that I'm a lot more normal than I had thought at first. Confession #1: I'm somewhat of a racist (although I wish I wasn't). I'm not a racist in the sense of killing, segregation, discrimination, etc, but more like the cross the street type. I'm Asian, although I look white, which I guess hasn't helped much. My parents weren't exactly racists by their generation's standards. It's not like they used racist expressions/words, but they would use skin color as a way to describe people. Personally, when it comes to African-Americans, I tend to favor the ones that have only recently left Africa, as opposed to those whose families have been here for generations, so I don't know if racism is even the correct term to use. I just don't like the way that their culture is focused on rap, basketball, and being "gangsta" (all things I hate). Like I said before, I wish I wasn't racist and I won't show any noticeable signs of it, but I still feel bad for it. Confession #2: (Side-Note: I'm not here to debate whether or not Christianity is the "correct religion," but I'm just pointing out statements under the assumption that Christianity is the "correct religion." If you share different opinions than I do, so be it, just don't rip on my beliefs). Although I am a Conservative, Catholic, I have to say that I don't like most of my fellow party/church members. There's too much intolerance on my side of the fence that I believe overshadows those of us who are normal, sensible people. For instance, people completely missed Jesus' message by throwing around the Bible verse Leviticus 18:22 as proof for hating on homoseuxals. However, the very same Bible also has the following verses that no one pays attention to:
1 Kings 7:23- Basically says Pi = exactly 3 (inb4 Southern schools recall all geometry books) Leviticus 10:6- Basically says don't get a haircut (I don't know one Christian who hasn't gotten a haircut at some point in his or her life) Leviticus 11:6-8- Basically says that eating pork of any kind (including bacon, ham, pepperoni, etc) is a sin. All those Church pizza parties are just big sin-fests, huh? Leviticus 11:20- Says insects walk on all fours. Leviticus 11:29-31- Implies: even if you come into contact with a rat that hosts the plague, you're cleansed at evening (wait...) Leviticus 11:34- Any food that touches water (or any other drinkable liquid) is dirty. Boiling food = sin. Dipping dinosaur cookies in milk at Bible Camp screwed me over tbh. Side-note: The camp was not run by Catholics; we accept evolution as scientific fact. Plenty more like this, just too lazy to look them up or search more. Let's just pick and choose which verses to accept, while at the same time ignore Jesus: Matthew 5:17- Old Laws are not required to go to heaven (cancels out Leviticus 18:22). John 15:12- Love one another as Jesus loved us. (Don't be intolerant or be prejudiced) Essentially, if Christians actually followed Christ (you know, the person our religion is named after), then they would be tolerant :wall: . Confession #3: I don't necessarily try to be universally liked, but rather have no one really dislike me (other than by people whom I dislike, in which case I don't care about their opinion). I care too much about this imo, but I probably won't stop... Doesn't hurt to try and be a pleasant person. Regrets: I regret nothing :P!

World Cup 2010 - South Africa!
Sour grapes I think. Iniesta's dive at the end led to the goal. When they showed the replay, he was 4-5 feet in front of the Dutch player when he "tripped" and fell over. In regards to the first half, getting all ball is a clean tackle (although a kick to the chest, not so much). I can't seem to find a video that shows the close up, but if I do, I'll be sure to post it (unless someone beats me to it). Off-Topic: That actually reminds me of the only yellow card I ever got. The player from the opposing team head-butted me in the chest and he fell over as a result. I got the card somehow. The very same match, an opposing player hit me while I was going for a header and as a result, I did a sideways flip and landed, doing several barrel rolls from the force of the hit. I got called for diving? If that was a dive, I was a lot more creative than Iniesta, at least .

World Cup 2010 - South Africa!
Very exciting World Cup. I picked Netherlands to win beforehand, so I was close. I was disappointed with the final match, though. The referees were less than pleasing. Too many Spanish players were diving the whole match (with maybe 2-3 legitimate calls). The Japanese refs should have had the final match IMO. They did the best job by far ignoring dives and calling offsides at the correct time (and to top it off, they weren't card-happy...). I was very pleased with the United States' performance in South Africa, winning our group and making great comebacks. I'll also just throw it out there that U.S.A. beat Spain 2-0 in the 2009 Confederation's Cup :-w. My personal favorite goal of the tournament:
Dempsey of U.S.A. vs. England. 2010 South Africa: The Good- -Very nice cultural theme going on -Fairly good time slots for the matches The Bad- -Vuvuzelas killing the cheering and singing of the fans (as well as letting people who were able to sneak in whistles go unpunished) -Having to build four extra stadiums with great cost to Fifa (that will serve no purpose from now on) All in all, I'm looking forward to 2014 Brazil and hoping for 2018 or 2022 U.S.A. (we're in the lead for 2022 supposedly). Maybe it will do some good for football (soccer) here in the U.S. I know back in '94, I was born in the heat of the semi-finals, which inspired my parents to sign me up to play when I was old enough (bear in mind football [soccer] didn't even exist in my parents' hometown when they were kids).

Vuvuzelas in runescape ?
ITT: We learn that Kietaro1 and Studio1417 are the people other countries refer to when they say Americans are arrogant, ignorant morons. Fixed that for you. IMO, the people being lied to and mislead by the media and believing every word of it are ignorant and stupid. Plus, why would someone read about something that A.) doesn't interest them, B.) has no affect on them. Here, is a link to fascinating BMX articles. Now, I want you to read all of them... 'Cause if you don't, you're ignorant and stupid. I don't care if it doesn't interest you or you're not into BMXing, just do it. Grow the hell up. People like you sicken me. Thank you. How am I being an "arrogant, ignorant moron" exactly? Have you even read all of my posts on this thread, or are you assuming this based on one post I made, thus taking my statements completely out of context? To summarize my previous posts, I stated: -what a vuvuzela is to someone who didn't know -the reasons why football (soccer) isn't popular in America (actual reasons, not "lol soccer boring"). -football (soccer) is my favorite sport by far (playing it and watching international matches, that is). -xxshady is a condescending, arrogant individual for assuming someone is an idiot because they don't know what a vuvuzela is (claiming that the individual in question doesn't read the news like he does). Don't really see how any of those make me an "arrogant, ignorant moron," but I'd love to hear from someone who is all-knowing [/sarcasm].

Vuvuzelas in runescape ?
Reading the news, huh? Find me the word "vuvuzela" on any of these front pages (or any other legitimate new source). Yahoo: Top Stories MSN: Top Stories CNN: Top Stories Time: Top Stories Not everyone clicks the sports tab and certainly NO ONE will randomly search for a word as obscure as "vuvuzela." Just because someone doesn't care about a sport, doesn't mean they're stupid. Where will it get you in life knowing who won the World Cup in 1966 (or 2010 for that matter)? Oh, it won't get you anywhere. Instead of being so condescending, why don't you help the unenlightened learn? Perhaps it's because you're an arrogant individual who thinks he's better than everyone else. Wake up, you're not. Get over yourself and learn not to be an ass to everyone you talk to. After a 5 second search on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/07/10/uae.vuvuzela.ban/index.html?iref=allsearch Ya... one of the thousand examples I can give you of the news mentioning the World Cup and Vuvuzelas. If you're implying that everyone is equal and no one is more intelligent than anyone else, you're hilariously wrong. People who don't read the news on a regular basis (searching Vuvuzela isn't reading the news) are ignorant and stupid. In the past 3 weeks i've read about 4 or 5 stories mentioning Vuvuzelas on the news. -I literally mentioned in my post that no one is going to search for a term as obscure as Vuvuzela. -Reading the news (or watching) ESPECIALLY in the instance of sports =/= intelligence. If I saw a word like "Ongadio" in the title of an article, I probably wouldn't click it, as I don't care. If it was something important that I needed to know about, it would not only be mentioned on every news site, but many times on each (e.g. the oil spill). -I never said everyone is equal in intelligence, nor did I make an implication of it. You are an intelligent individual. However, you don't need to make an ass out of yourself to try and make others feel less intelligent (or perhaps to make yourself feel more so  ). I suspect college as your source for being so condescending, but that's simply a guess. -If someone doesn't know about something do you: A.) Call them ignorant for not knowing or B.) Provide a short explanation (thus removing said ignorance) If you hate ignorance, your best bet would be B for obvious reasons

Best names you've seen on runescape?
I struck up a conversation with "C" back in RuneScape Classic. I would have to say that Hamtaro is a pretty rare name.
Hamtaro was a cartoon about some Hamsters that go on adventures while their owners are at school or whatnot. It was cancelled back in 2004 here in the U.S. but I'm pretty sure it still airs in Japan.

Vuvuzelas in runescape ?
>running around >barely using their feet Does not compute. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football (and they dare call that thing ... football) I agree that soccer should be called football here in the U.S. (for obvious reasons). However, American football has become too much of a tradition here for anyone to even consider changing the name, especially knowing its major fanbase (it is pretty fun to watch, though). The reason that I believe football (soccer) isn't popular in the U.S. is that we take for granted always being able to watch the best athletes in the world compete here on our own soil. That isn't the case for football (maybe with the exception of Landon Donovan, of course  ). In MLB (Major League Baseball) and the NHL ([inter]National Hockey League), we import the best players from around the world. In the NFL (National [American] Football League) and NBA (National Basketball Association), we have the best born on our own soil (because no one else plays them). In MLS (football/soccer), we mostly have players who aren't nearly as good as those from Europe or South America, so we get bored and wait for international matches to begin, before we even consider watching. I know I do that and I consider football (soccer) my favorite sport... That's just what I believe and may not even be the case. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Vuvuzelas in runescape ?
Good job being totally ignorant of current events Good job being a jerk? I didn't realize that sports constituted current events. Anyway, a Vuvuzela is a trumpet like horn that alone sounds like an elephant, but in groups sound like a bunch of bees. They became popular (or rather well known) during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (where they supposedly originated from). It's impossible to watch a match without hearing people in the crowd blow them. People either love them or hate them, there's no in-between. Jagex being a British based company means they most likely love football (soccer here in the U.S.). They placed this sound into RuneScape, most likely as a joke, or just to annoy their players. Hope this clears it up.

Tip.It Times - 4th July 2010
So you say. That is how you play, but not most people. As I said before, the main problem with the article is its completely based on assumptions, and those are wrong for many people. Likewise your criticism is based on an assumption. Have you ever fooled around with a good friend doing something almost entirely pointless? I haven't done it for a long time, but it was probably the most entertaining few hours of my Runescape life when I last did it. You don't have to be a particular kind of aimless player to enjoy being able to step back from it all once in a while and just mess around and it is for that reason that I actually quite enjoyed the article. Can you actually prove, any more than the author, that either one of you is right or wrong? (This isn't meant to sound like a personal attack by the way, I'm just playing devil's advocate for a moment!) It is wrong to assume that nobody plays for fun anymore - I certainly wouldn't still be playing if it didn't bring some modicum of enjoyment, but at the same time the basic point of the article seems solidly based on firm logic. Actually mine isn't. I never said that how I play was how others should, or that others didn't have fun playing how I do. Show me one assumption in my statement. I've played my fair of hide 'n' seek, gone to the KQ, barrows, etc. I do these for fun, nothing else. That is a HUGE assumption. The article would have been far better if instead the author had as his thesis something along the lines of "The beauty of RuneScape is that there is no right or wrong way to play the game, within the rules. One can sit around chatting, play hide 'n' seek with friends, or try and make as much money as they can. The beauty of this game is in the different paths we all take, whether it is going for an incredibly rare untrimmed cape, or trying to make 300m for that GWD set. The beauty is in deciding how to spend your hard earn cash, or to beg at the GE for cash, if you so please. The beauty is in the freedom to do what you want, when you want, with those who, although virtual characters in a virtual world, may really be amazing friends" You might want to fix your quote with the following ;) Anyway, I am not making an assumption. In the article I make an attack on grinding which, based on everyone's complaints, is something everyone hates. I did not necessarily say that creative gameplay ideas are the ONLY way players can have fun, based on the following quote: Maybe if certain individuals read the whole article before making their own assumptions about it, then this argument would not have begun. Bottom line... If you think looking at the number 99 is fun, or killing hundreds of thousands of monsters in the process is fun, then fine, you're right. If not, then I suggest you stop this argument now.

World Cup 2010 - South Africa!
I didn't think Argentina would lose that bad  I expect a Germany vs. Netherlands final. Slightly off-topic: I used to play football (soccer) as a kid, but this is the first World Cup that I've been following closely. Is there some sort of rivalry between Netherlands and (West) Germany? If so, would anyone care to fill in the details of their history against each other?

World Cup 2010 - South Africa!
Congrats to the Netherlands. That was a fantastic game.
