    Congratulations!
  2. The problem is that F2P doesn't have a combat triangle, it has a combat line. If you wear full Rune, you're basically immortal.
  3. They would if the government suddenly decided to make cigarettes $40 a pack and they could obtain them for say, $10 a pack and sell them at $20. This is exactly what is happening with cigarettes here in Ontario. The province keeps raising the taxes on them, so people are either buying uncontrolled cigarettes (so they could have even worse stuff in them) from the Natives or turning to smuggling. I don't quite see how legalizing marijuana compares to people botting in RS though. It's not like smoking pot is a cheat to make real life easer. Botting is simply a smaller symptom of a larger problem with society as a whole. People today want everything *now* and they don't want to have to put in any work to get it. Horusdragon2 is an excellent example of this; he wants to PK but doesn't want to put in the time or effort required to do it effectively so he cheats. People like that get out into the real world and find out that it's hard, so they look for shortcuts to get what they want. Everyday the news is full of people who do that, they're called "criminals". A harsh term perhaps for people who are simply cheating at a game, but the rules of RS are like the laws we all live with everyday; a collection of directives on how to behave, and what the punishment for disobedience is, created by the ruling party. Thus, people who break those rules are the criminals of RS and should be punished as such. You don't like or want to follow the rules? Accept your punishment or leave. It's that simple.
  4. Today's Dungeoneering was especially productive. [spoiler=Here's where I'm at now] I gained 12 levels today, and a Strength level to boot! The resource dungeons were especially helpful, gaining me a total of 6 levels on their own. Not bad for just walking through a couple of doors. I'm getting better at going through the dungeons. I'm not worrying quite so much about getting Fractite armor every time, so I'm doubling back less, but I still need to get armor (not all of us are combat specialists ;) ). I've found that I can get enough cash to buy 8 Kratonite ore pretty easily and smith myself a nice plate suit, so all I have to do is worry about opening the rooms and beating the boss. I've also started working on the Lumbridge Hard Achievement diary. I've done what I could, which is about half, but I'm going to have to raise my Crafting, Prayer and Runecrafting levels in order to complete it. I'm hoping I can get my Craft/Prayer done by Saturday, but I need 6 RC levels so that might take a bit longer.
  5. Perhaps faster than I realize. I opened up two more floors today. [spoiler=Check it out] [spoiler=I also gained a defense level] It's hard to get a proper screenshot of a combat level though. When I started, the complexity of the first 6 floors kept going up (as I assume it does for everyone at first) and only opened up three floors. Of course I didn't realize how the prestige worked then... :wall: but I've done 4 C6 floors in the last couple of days and opened up 3 more, which means I can do at least 2 more before I have to reset. At this rate, I should reach level 15 in the next couple of days. The floors are taking a lot longer than I thought though; at least 35 minutes for a small. Maybe I shouldn't worry quite so much about finding everything, or trying to make the best armor I can each time. Oh, and speaking of armor, I finally found/bought enough Fractite to make a full set of armor (including gloves/boots). [spoiler=Aww yeah!] Looks awesome, no? Usually I end up with a mix-and-match setup made from whatever I can find, but this last dungeon really paid off. Too bad I can't take it with me. Any of you experienced dungeon raiders out there have any tips for newbie like me?
  6. While the price is certainly right (free is always good ), I like it because it's the only MMO I've come across that isn't primarily combat oriented and doesn't require constant WSAD keyboard input. I like being able to just sit back and click away with my mouse.
  7. You can teach people proper grammar and spelling all you like, but if they're typing in slang 90% of the time (ie: texting/forums/in-game/etc...) then they're still not going to know, or even care, how to use it. Personally, I think that history will look back upon the last decade as the birth of a new language, an offshoot of English if you will, and it terrifies me that the common language we're all moving towards will be full of words like "pwn" and "leet".
  8. Unfortunately it doesn't, or I'd have been glad to help you with it. What are you going to do to train your Smithing?
  9. Mine gold in the Living Rock Caverns and then use goldsmithing gloves to make bars.
  10. Wow! Somebody had a productive weekend. Great job, Sonic. Good luck getting your Smithing level up.
  11. Okay, this is a big one blog fans so hold on to your browsers. It's been a couple of weeks since my last entry and I have much to report. To make things easier I'm going to break everything up into sections. [spoiler=Section 1 - 900 total]I decided to give Dungeoneering a try, but I didn't want to overshoot 900 total and miss getting a pic. I had a couple of skills pretty close to leveling up, and a large stock of stuff in my bank that I've picked up while wandering around the GE, so I took out some bones and some fish and got the following: [spoiler=44 Prayer and 900 total!] [spoiler=62 Cooking] Yay, I can cook Monkfish! The stuff I've picked up just hanging around the GE over the last few months is amazing. The uncut gems are the only things I didn't find there. Yes, I found 141 big bones noted on the ground at the GE. In F2P. So now with the 900 total milestone out of the way, it was time to take a trip to the mysterious land of Daemonhiem. [spoiler=Section 2 - Dungeoneering] I've decided to take a small break from mining, dust myself off and see what Dungeoneering is all about. [spoiler=My first trip to Daemonhiem]I began my journey in the horrible microwave known as Al-Kharid, where I spoke to a grumpy, bearded fellow who was obviously overdressed for the heat. I don't know why he was so grumpy, it's his own fault for wearing furs in the desert. He took me to a strange, and barren land he called Daemonhiem. Where I saw many strange and curious things. And a nice fellow gave me a ring...I hope he wasn't trying to propose. I learned all about the dungeons and how I couldn't take anything in or out because of some horrible somethingorother in the dungeons...wait, why am I going down into this Saradomin-forsaken place again? [spoiler=Oh, right...] I'd like to say my first few forays into the dungeons were wildly successful with no mistakes or anything, but I'm sure we all now better than that. My very first floor I accidentally bound a Marmaros full helm instead of the Death Runes. #-o Not too much of a problem, just destroy the helm and bind the runes and it's all gravy right? Oh, if only good reader. I thought I would venture forth without the support of Tip.It's encyclopedic knowledge base of boss monsters, and spent nearly 30 minutes trying to kill a Gluttonous Behemoth before finally figuring it out. Ah well, it was still enjoyable and I've been going back down for the last couple of days. I think I've even finally figured out when to reset my prestige (after three floors of not realizing I should have, and getting 0 prestige for them). I got some good starting tips from Sonic's F2P Dungeoneering Guide, like binding a Fractite spear, which I never would have thought of and is working great. (thanks Sonic ) At the very least I'm going to get my Dungeoneering to level 15 (currently level 6) so I can access the deposit box in the Dwarven Mine, but I'm enjoying it so much I may just keep right on going with it for a little while. Not too long though, so don't worry. Already I hear the siren call of my beloved Mining luring me back. [spoiler=Section 3 - Everything else]While I was working my way through the dungeons this morning, I realized I had gained a level and hadn't even noticed. I guess I was enjoying myself too much. [spoiler=Constitution level 52] I also realized I forgot to post an updated cash pile shot (this is from last Thursday). [spoiler=62M gp!] The bonus Xp weekend gave a huge boost to my merching last week. I made over 5M in three days! I'm also going to start updating the image in my other blog about once a week. Feel free to check it out. *whew* I really need to start posting updates a little more often.
  12. They changed the sig size recently. It's 500 x 250 now. The rule breaker image obviously hasn't been updated yet.
  13. Woot! Hard Lumby tasks. Looks like I have a reason to get my Crafting and Runecrafting levels up.
  14. As I write this, I'm sitting in my truck on Highway 417 parked where I've been for the last hour. Some yahoo went and caught his truck on fire and both lanes are blocked. There hasn't been an ambulance go by yet so I guess everyone's okay, and the fire's out but we're still just sitting here waiting for them to reopen the road. So my whole day is quickly going to Hell in a handbag. On the up side, I'm getting paid to sit here and make a blog entry. So it's not all bad. Update: So after sitting there for over two hours, they finally opened a lane and we were all on our way...only to discover that my exit had only been 2km up the road. :wall: It looks like a car carrier had caught fire, there were about a half dozen burnt cars on the side of the road. I hope it doesn't effect his insurance rates too much.
  15. Just because he feels strongly about this doesn't mean he should be ridiculed for it. He sees a problem and he's taking action. As Edmund Burke once said: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
  16. Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
  17. Why is that a bad idea, would bots simply bypass it? You would inevitably be "puzzled" every thirty minutes, and have multiple people attempting to "puzzle" you every few seconds. I would seriously quit. Randoms make me angry enough without other players being able to piss me off every thirty minutes. Randoms wouldn't be needed anymore then I think, since they are there to eliminate bots. There could be a system like the one already existing for randoms, if you succesfully complete it without errors you get less. (you only need to type in 1 word every hour/2hours, would that be so bad to completely whipe out bots?) Captchas would be the best way to implement this. They've been suggested before, but I doubt Jagex will ever do it.
  18. That's hardly a fair comparison. With bots he has a chance of finding one.
  19. I'm hoping the hard Lumbridge/Draynor Diary will be F2P. I had a lot of fun doing the first three.
  20. I can't believe I didn't realize you had a blog as well. Even after all the times you posted in mine. :wall: I'll definitely be watching this from now on. Oh, and congrats on 70 Crafting and 60 Firemaking.
  21. Check out zapps1's http://forum.tip.it/topic/96893-the-best-f2p-combat-guide-all-levels/. It has excellent advice for all levels and combat styles.
  22. C'mon guys. You know we're not allowed to discuss how to break the rules of the game. :shame:
  23. Kaida23 replied to SGT_Simcoe's topic in Rants
Be thankful they didn't ban you for using a macro/bot. Like PereGrin said, it looks like a auto typer. It may not have technically been offensive language but spamming the chat box is definitely disruptive behavior and is against the rules.
  24. My advice: Play the game and have fun. If he thinks bot hunting is fun, let him do it. Not that anyone would have to look very far for them. I'm practically tripping over them on a daily basis.
  25. Personally, I'm loving it. Not having to log in to make sure my items are buying/selling or to see if they're done, combined with a GE update tracker equals one happy merchant.
