  2. Fixed that for ya. :P He's right though, if she already has a boyfriend you're probably better off moving on than getting more involved.
  3. It also gave what was supposed to be the best hybrid armor available for free players as part of the rewards. This was nerfed for free players as of the beginning of week 4 (after we'd all put in God knows how much time trying to get enough renown for the pieces <_<). As Soa said, the xp rates were really good and mining was wonderfully afk'able. I personally gained nearly 5M Mining xp over the course of the event. Other rewards included cosmetic weapon overrides, emotes, titles and xp lamps all the way up to huge which gave 95% of their SoF counterparts. Since the event ran so long (10 weeks), I've also found myself wondering what to do now that it's over. The first day I logged in a just kind of stood in the crater scratching my head for a while. Jagex has stated that one of the things they learned from this event was that it was way too long and future world events will be much shorter.
  4. Big Trouble in Little China. What more needs to be said? I first saw it when I was 11 or 12 and it never gets old.

Hmm...I'd almost forgotten about Coulson and his vacation in Tahiti ("It's a magical place"). That "He can never know" line from episode 1 certainly indicates that there's more there than meets the eye. I think the team's ability to work together is going to be resolved relatively quickly, but their differences will continue to be a source of internal drama and comedy. I'm wondering now how big The Rising Tide actually is. They made it out to be some big, bad group at first but then it almost seemed like Skye was the only member since it was hardly mentioned again after they caught her. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe it'll turn out to be HYDRA front. Wouldn't that just shatter Skye's idealistic dreams of making the world a better place?
  6. Honestly, I've spent pretty much every day since the RS3 release at the BoL but things were pretty quiet even before that. Woodcutting and fishing locations were usually empty and even Musa Point on Karamja was practically deserted. It has made skilling much easier.

In the comics flying cars have been a staple of the SHIELD arsenal since the 60's (there was even one in Captain America at the Stark Expo). As long as they don't use it too much (or, ideally, ever again), then I see it as nothing more than a nod to the history of the story universe. I watched episode two with my kids this morning (I told them I'd wait so we could watch it together) and we loved it. Lots of humor and action, and it's good to see the team starting to gel. You can really see Joss Whedon's influence as well, it's almost like Firefly in the Marvel universe...my inner geek squealed with glee just writing that. I'm wondering what the overarching storyline/villian is going to be though. You know, something to tie the whole season together. Is it going to continue to be The Rising Tide, or is something more terrifying waiting in the wings?
  8. If you're worried about the recurring subscription fees, you could always buy a $25 game card for ~100 days of membership. We gave one to my son for his birthday last week and now he has membership until the beginning of January. As far as your existing F2P account, if want to change your name you could always buy a month of FunOrb membership. That would let you change your RS name while still remaining pure F2P. Whatever you decide, enjoy your time as a member. It's a great big RS world out there. :)
  9. That's true, but the numbers in free worlds have been down for some time now. While they certainly aren't helping, bonds aren't the only reason.
  10. Honestly? They're low because the bot detection/prevention program is working. The biggest thing you missed was the release of RS3 and the Battle of Lumbridge world event, which just ended. The good news is you're just in time for the Lumbridgr rebuild event which is happening later this month. A new skill was also introduced: Divinination. Which is, unfortunately, a members skill. Edit: I almost forgot, they also reworked the Black Knights' Fortress quest. It's called 'The Death of Chivalry' now. It's pretty good and has enemies that scale to your combat level. I really enjoyed it.

There's a place where women flock to tall white guys??? Brb, I need to buy a plane ticket.
  12. So, a late March/early April event that had nothing do with Easter and a late October even that has nothing to do with Halloween. I didn't realize Jagex was becoming so politically correct. What's next? Will we have to help King Roald water his flower garden in December? <_< After the loss of the Easter event this year, I was really looking forward to the Halloween event. :( And how, exactly, is Explorer Jack's hat a "costume"?
  13. That's one of the funniest things I've ever read on the RSOF.
  14. September is over.

Knowing Bell, they'll just charge you 1/30th of the monthly fee for the day you did use. Today I got a letter from the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General that I "was selected...to be considered for inclusion in a Jury Roll"; ie: some day in the next year I might have to report for jury duty. I always wondered how we did that here in Canada. I've been reading up on it though, and if I am selected I might have to try and get out of it. Not because I don't want to do it (I actually do, I've always been interested in the law and this would be an awesome experience), but for financial reasons. Jurors don't get paid squat and while my employer is required by law to keep my job for me, they're not required to pay me (except in Newfoundland and Labrador), so I wouldn't be able to afford to take time off to sit on a jury. Hell, I'd have trouble affording the time off for the week or so of jury selection. I'm going to check with my boss to see if they'll pay me if I do have to go, but otherwise I'm not going to worry too much about it. We don't have too many jury trials in Ottawa.

Things like that are why I've never let Bell replace the original modem they gave me with one of the modem/router combos. My D-Link router works just fine thank you, and I have full control over it.
  17. It opens more of a market for gold famers. I agree, but as for the price. I doubt it will tripple, maybe just bellow double and level off at 10m. At current prices I could get 60-70m for 10 bonds. Or I could us that amount of money getting 180m from gold famers. Either way. They gold farmers got a triple advantage. This could also be the first step before they make a big push against gold farmers like they've been doing against bots. I also think sales of the bonds will start to go down after a few weeks but demand for them in-game probably won't, which will result in the gp cost going up.

Make that two. I really enjoyed the first episode as well. Fitz/Simmons are hilarious when they get rambling back and forth.
  19. Went to the charity screening of Serenity this afternoon. It's as good today as the first time I saw it.

Today my ex and I took our eldest and some his friends to the charity screening of Serenity here in Ottawa for his birthday. I wasn't sure what they would think of the event, but they had a great time and really enjoyed the movie. I won a cast photo for knowing what the last episode of Firefly to be aired was (it was the pilot, which only accentuates how badly Fox screwed with it). I was honestly surprised no one else in an entire theatre of fanboys knew that.
  21. Watched Bridge to Terabithia with my kids yesterday, and it was totally not what I was expecting based on the trailers I remember. It's an excellent, heart-warming story that's well acted with seamless CGI and what has to be one of the saddest endings I think I've ever seen. We were actually crying.
  22. Moved to H&A.
  23. If they are, they'd best keep it to themselves. :P
  24. The problem I had was trying to find an NIS setup that matched the old minimized layout because my laptop is old and I need to run the game like that to reduce lag. But I found one that works pretty quickly so it's not so bad. You're right about new players adapting more quickly, my son recently started playing and quickly figured it all out. I've also found that you have press enter every time you switch tabs within the chat box (ie: go from general to friend chat, or from friend chat and back). It's really rather annoying.
