  1. That would be Alona Tal. And yes she is. <3: btw, Gabe - she's also Israeli. ;)
  2. Really? I must have missed that in the updates. I know I had to add everything to mine, but I did it within the first week.
  3. That's a very good fast explanation, Kim. An excellent start for a beginner. :)
  4. Depends on how long he was gone. A lot of people were suspicious of the tool belt when it was first released. Glad to hear someone helped you out.
  5. The kneepads are a tad frightening, but the hair looks pretty good. Ignore the naysayers, Bly. I like it.
  6. Thanks, Medi! The new quest is pretty good, and we have another one coming out this month. Two new quests in as many months, I'm starting to feel like a member! I also noticed that the new quest gave me quest points. The last quest I did was Christmas 2011 and I only had 42 points then, but now I have 45. I don't know if it's a glitch or what, but usually reworked quests don't give any. Gunnar's Ground certainly didn't. Perhaps I should get Shield of Arrev done before they rework it too. :P Speaking of quests, if any of you haven't done Doric's Quest yet (and there's no reason you shouldn't have, it's 1300 Mining xp for zero effort) you should do it now before it gets redone. ;) I'm looking forward to the new quest, especially the Smithing/Mining xp boost. As expected, I haven't been gaining new levels at quite the torrid pace as when I was in the dungeons but I did manage to get a couple more last night. [spoiler=82 Magic] [spoiler=80 Smithing] I'm now only 15 levels away from 1100 total. \:D/ I have about 50 Smithing urns left so I'm going to finish using them up and then decide if I'm going to keep pressing on with superheating or descend back down into Daemonhiem for a bit. Superheating Rune bars is extremely profitable right now, so I'm becoming sorely tempted to simply use some of the Iron ore at Artisan's and sprint the last few levels to 85. Especially since I'd really like my second 99 to be Smithing and not Magic. It's certainly something for me to think about. :-k
  7. My first job was working in the sporting goods section of a Canadian Tire here in Ottawa when I was 19. It was owned by the father of a friend of mine from high school, but all that got me was an interview with him. I got everything else on my own, and have not been without a job since. That's very harsh. I feel for you. I used to manage a couple of gas stations and one of my employees was in a similar situation, except he dropped out of school to support his gf and their child after her family kicked her out. I applaud your willingness to face your situation and do what is necessary. In my experience, there's no shortage of work out there for those willing to look for it. It may not be classy or well paying, but if you're willing to put in the effort and get your hands dirty you'll find something. Have you considered looking into construction or other similar industries? Road crews always need signalmen and building contractors always need people to haul materials/equipment back and forth. Both of my girlfriend's brothers are roofers and have been since before they finished high school. It's hard work, but if you can find a decent company, the pay is pretty good. I wish you luck and hope things work out for you.

The problem with diesel in North America is that it has a negative connotation of being 'dirty' and, therefore, bad for the environment. This outdated notion is, of course, ridiculous as evolving technologies (like the increasing use of DEF) have lowered diesel exhaust emissions to a fraction of what they once were. It's not unlike high efficiency incineration, which I understand is gaining popularity in Europe but no one over here is even willing to look twice at because they think burning = smoke = pollution. As for automatic vs manual transmissions, I'll just say this: In the middle of a blinding snowstorm or freezing rain, neither of which are uncommon several months out of the year, I'd rather be focusing on not sliding into the ditch than what gear I'm in. It's still good to know how to drive both, but I know which I prefer in my work truck. ;)
  9. It means that Lady Luck is both spiteful and fair. So it really IS a lady.
  10. Congrats! Mining levels are good no matter how you get them. ;)
  11. Never underestimate the nostalgia or disposable income of old school gamers. :P
  12. So, it's a Halloween holiday event for members only? :-s
  13. Okay. Thanks, Star. :) Personally, my account is worth a lot more to me than I'm sure it would be to anyone else. The time spent and memories made are worth much more than my meager stats could ever be. :P
  14. Welcome, ari! :) Aw, shucks. Thank you. :^_^:
  15. It looks very interesting. I'll definitely be following this one to see how it does. Tom and Brenda are responsible for some of my favorite games growing up (I still remember playing Commander Keen for hours on end, much to my mother's chagrin ), so hopefully they haven't lost their mojo.
  16. First, welcome to TIF! :) Second, welcome to the wonderful world of F2P blogging! |^_^| It's always good to see another pure free player. I'm looking forward to reading about your progress.
  17. Wow. This has been dead for 3 years. Thread Necromancy level 99.
  18. Players being respectful? Dead characters rising from the grave? The end times are upon us!!! If a giant marshmallow man appears next to the Wizard Tower we're all doomed. :P

  20. Wow. Two new quest updates in as many months. So this is what being a member feels like! :P Really looking forward to the updates this month. I'm in the middle of training Smithing, so some extra xp will go a long way. |^_^|
  21. Saturday night, I was in Al Kharid (I still can't get over how good it looks there) when I got this: [spoiler=81 Magic] And then yesterday I ran out of urns so I was back in the Crafting Guild making more when this happened: [spoiler=67 Crafting] Woot! I can now cut the single most valuable gem in all of Gielinor! \:D/ ...if I ever become a member, that is. ;) I'm about 2/5 of the way to 80 Smithing, so hopefully I can get there by the end of the week.
  22. Most definitely. I had a hard enough time of it with combats in the 50's, I can't imagine doing it while they were practically at zero.
  23. The quest also gives 18650 Defence xp, so in theory it could have been done with only 33 Def and then bumped to 40 after collecting the reward.
