  1. Holy [cabbage] my eyes have just been raped. That's horrible.
  2. I've been on MTV and local news 3-4 times. The girl next door to me was the MADE girl for the beauty pageant thing... I was on the news when I was 8 for releasing the very first frogs into the new exhibit at the San Antonio Zoo... My dad used to do news stuff for a National Kiteflying Association thing and I would go... And then just about a year ago I was on the news for something I would rather not be proud of, but my friend was killed in a car accident when we were street racing. But I do visual effects and animation for National TV campaigns, does that count?

I seriously don't think this fool knew what he was doing. I think he just knew there would be an expensive shipment and stole it. Judging by the looks of him, he probably figured "hey free stuff" and didn't have buyers already lined up. And yes, I'm stereotyping.

George Lucas is a master story teller. I don't care what anyone says about his plot holes and inconsistencies. Almost all of them are in fact backed up, but too many people take the Star Wars universe way too literal and fail to see past their own ignorance. Not everything everyone says is to be taken literally. When people give examples of A New Hope not linking with Episode III; primarily when Kenobi is talking to Luke, they are failing to see the irony in the story. Kenobi tells Luke only that which is convenient for him to hear. He didn't want Luke to know that Anakin Skywalker = Darth Vader. He didn't want Luke to know that he trained Darth Vader. "It's your fathers lightsaber. He wanted you to have it when you were old enough." Obviously, Anakin never told Obi-Wan to give his lightsaber to his son when he was being burned alive, as Kenobi kneeled down and picked it up. Hell, Anakin didn't even know he was going to have a son, much less twins. Obi-Wan simply inserted that bit in when he was telling Luke the story to give his father that more fatherly and domestic approachability. "She was very beautiful. She died when I was very young... Images..., and feelings, really." Leia tells these to Luke because she is talking about Mrs. Organa. Had Leia known she was adopted, she wouldn't have been so bewildered when Luke told her they were siblings. Although some of the things in Star Wars are obviously very hokey, George Lucas has all sides covered. I think too many people take too much of their time to critisize and don't enjoy what's really there. The old saga and the new one are very different though, too. Episode I started just coming out of the "Golden Years" of the Republic. Everything was good, and there were alot of Jedi. In 4,5,6, There were only ever 2 Jedi alive at one time. So of course, when seeing these movies, the term Jedi has a mystical and celestial connotation to it. However, when you return to a different part of time, and you see so many jedi, it's hard to hold such a high regard for so many people. So of course Lucas had to dummy down the ideaology of it all. I also hear alot of people complaining about inconsistencies within the new series itself. Who is stronger, why is he able to beat him, and why did he kill him. I figure since I'm on such a tangent I might as well tackle it all at once. ;) I don't care what you've been told, Mace Windu is the most powerful Jedi Master on the Council. Alot of people seem to think that Yoda was. This is incorrect. Yoda was obviously the wisest of the Jedi. He was also probably the second greatest swordsman, next to Windu. The reason I bring this up is because I heard alot of people wondering how Mace Windu could beat Palpatine, and then Yoda cannot. Some also think that Palpatine was faking it to seduce Anakin. I simply don't think that is the case. So, to make it clear again. Overall Yoda is the strongest Jedi; combining knowledge of the force with wisdom of how to use it, along with a mastery of lightsaber skills. However, Mace Windu was a better swordfighter plain and simple. As for Obi-Wan's comments to Anakin in Episode II, "If you spent at much time training as you did... doing something.... you would rival master Yoda as a swordsman." That simply suggests that Yoda is damn good, but really doesn't necessarily mean he is THE BEST. Although I could see where you could get that. This concept took me a while to figure out too. I know there was alot of other stuff I wanted to write, but I guess I'll have to let my brain take a breather real quick before my fingers fall off.
  5. Drag and drop the file into your c:\winnt\fonts\ folder.... or something similar to that depending how your machine is setup. then reboot the program.
  6. Well we recently did some work for Eyemasters and we used smilies in it... I never thought that I would ever find a good use for these things... I guess in this industry you can never be suprised. Each of our workstations has different wallpapers with the same black borders on the top and bottom.... Anywho, I was gonna post just a thumbnail, but you've been warned in the topic title. :-P
  7. Lorem Ipsum is a combination of languages... it's not Greek. One thing that is bugging me about your design is the use of all the different typefaces. I'd try and stay consistent with 2 or 3 at the most... Not too shabby though.
  8. This thread > *
  9. How can you not notice the white blotches? They are the only thing on there. ...?
  10. What are you guys talking about? The text on the first one is horrible. Wierd gradient text slammed in the corner with some perspective... I don't get it....
  11. Not working for me... I see a big white blotch, and the rest is black. Then the two colors don't really go together... What's the point? Looks like a planet and a unfinished background thrown together.
  12. Nice work. Check the proportions on the legs of that first character?
  13. Stole my response....
  14. Ahh... that must HHGTTG tht Wyrm spoke about...

No, maybe we liked the movie. You know, the biggest movie this year. A movie that makes history. A generally good movie. Yes maybe you liked the movie, and that's because you are a Star Wars fan. Do you figure all this stuff out on your own or does somebody help you? :!:

I didn't type all this to have it lost at the end of the page... Hope nobody minds me reposting. ;)
  20. Always gotta kill one of the worst actors in the world.* Fixed.
  21. I saw the movie and I enjoyed it, I should pick up the book. I think a better ending would have been, the 5th person he meets is the girl he saved... and it could go from there... Great story though. One of my favorites of the year.

I too saw the movie at midnight on the premiere. I must say that although it was lacking, I was somewhat impressed. Being a visual effects artist, I thought the graphics and special effects were awesome. This movie lived up to all expectations as far as the space fights and visual effects. Obviously the acting wasn't that great, but it wasn't so bad where the movie is unbearable. Too many people complain about Episode I and II. There are many reasons why they are different, but you have to take your own experiences into accord when you rate the success of these movies. Obviously, one of the things more intriguing about 456 was that we didn't know everything about Star Wars. We were first being introduced to these characters and learning the history. Now that we "know it all" we are less impressed with each act we see. Nobody can say anything negative about George Lucas, he is without a doubt the best indy film maker of our time. And possibly for generations to come. So, because of our subjective nature, obviously our criticism of the prequels will be harder than that of the originals, that's just how things are. I did feel that some of the parts in Episode 3, (as well as some parts in 1 & 2) were very hokey. The first 15-20 minutes I was watching, I felt like I was watching "Star Wars the Comedy." I'm sorry, but R2D2 is not a Jedi, and some of Obi-Wan/Anakin's lines were pretty corny. It seemed like the theater was laughing every 5minutes, something I do not enjoy from this type of movie. I could probably go out and point out every part of the movie, but that would be way too long (as if this isn't already). As far as plot development, I thought it was pretty interesting. Compared to the other two movies, this one is the best one as far as that goes. In Episode I & II I felt like Lucas was holding my hand down the road of the plot. In Episode III there is a bit less of that, and it definitely makes for a better movie. Alot of this has to do with the corporate side of film making, and how the film is marketed. Another reason I feel the entire trilogy was "not up to most peoples standards" is because of the fact that George Lucas has been exposed to the corporate bug. Although he started as an indy film maker and did so well with the original Star Wars, his success could have been his "downfall." As I watched the 3rd movie, I was a bit sad that the trilogy had to end. When I watch these movies I fall in love with the world they are in. I get too attached and I can't help myself, that's just who I am. However, StarWars is over and it was a great ride. Thanks, George. I think we can all say Star Wars has had a very positive impact on all our lives; geeks or not.
