  1. Yep, I wouldn't want jagex with any power on these boards. We have full control now, I'd like to see TIF keep it.
  2. bit drastic - and this is coming from a guy who got a hernia from chubby chasing.
  3. i liked the show and enhoyed it, it's ashame Kruek and welling are near impossible to get autographs of - or i'd go for the cast
  4. stickies, while a good idea are sadly flawed. No one reads them and that transcends to non runescape forums. I can imagine curious players pointing people to some massive wall of text shouting to read it. I see three paradoxes's 1) How much knowledge is "common knowledge" and how much is open to debate at this point. Quite a bit of stuff could fit in the sticky leaving little room for discussion until updates occur, While it works for the C Rapier - where does it end ? Theres alot that needs to be defined. 2) does anyone really want a community that refers to the sticky constantly? One of my biggest pet peeves when I joined staff was people just saying "you broke section 2.2 of the rules" expecting people to go read them and know. Why not show them what 2.2 is? The same applies to the rapier. I cant imagine a healthy community really telling people "go read common knowledge" over and over. What's common knowledge to a select few people who play the game a certain way.) isn't common knowledge to everyone. The attitude is daunting to some. 3) would a subforum with archived "hall of fame" type topics not be better? Yeah, that means another topic on the rapier may be needed, but I see that format getting much more traffic than a sticky. ~Das Tip.it User since 2001
  5. I can't exactly say I feel I was being critical by "lashing out" exactly. I've never in a decade of this forum in it's various formats seen a group of users cling on to past transgressions with such a sorry and disrespectful attitude. I've seen plenty and numerous splits in a decade (I was part of one myself once) and new sites start up. And I really feel at this point the eternal pissing match over the scriptsl (what else would you call it exactly?) is pointless. If they want to work out the over-moderation problem - it's not hard to not act like a total and complete ass and work on it seeking compromise. But currently it seems like it's more like "our sig's are gone and we can't advertise on a higher traffic site, wahhhh" than anything else for the past 15 pages. As for censoring myself, the forum actually censored me - I didn't censor myself. You also obviously have some stake since you have near as many posts there as here ;) ~Das
  6. Enough. As someone with insider knowledge, and dare i say someone who had the ability to see every facet behind the wall for close to three years, I can't help but feel the rage at Jimmy_Jim is misguided and ignorant. As far as moderator actions that he did to my knowledge on that magical 14th/15th date. I remember two spambot Ban's - some forum game stuff and thats about it. I investigated his "actions" prior to resignation and found that ignorantly actions of others were lumped towards him. Even IF IT WAS HIM HYPOTHETICALLY - his actions or whoever [bleep]ed up that day, really don't matter in terms of his promotion to administrator. Why? I've had the pleasure, or curse, of being "behind" the wall and seeing every silly little detail for over three years, I was part of the team that hired, trained, and promoted jimmy from a local to a supermod. He may of made some mistakes - every administrator on this forum probably has, I know although most people point to me as a positive force, I can only say that I too made many mistakes in general over 3 years and would change how I did several things. if I could go back over my 3 years. Jimmy is dedicated, user driven and a guy who cares about making tip.it a better community. He's got a good head on his shoulders and is a fair guy. What's done - is done, blood is without a doubt metaphorically on both parties hands to varying degrees over different instances. He who without sin cast the first stone. The past oh 15 or 20 pages, It's mainly been raging [puncture]s verus's a staff who is trying to maintain an integrity of the game too few people give a flying [bleep] about. As someone who has once all but bent over backwards to try to help smooth over the miscommunications - your attitude has turned me - as a user who is browsing for the "lulz" - off completely. The script situation is messed up, but overall to protect the integrity of the game - I do support the choice to limit exposure to those script's until Jagex clarifies them and personally can't say it's a bad call. it's old fashioned, a bit heavy handed, but hey, Tip.it Staff probably cares more about keeping the game cheat free than Jagex does. As for the wait time - I can say i'm a bit surprised, but it's not the first time a "big" response has taken time from them. What I don't get - is why are you guys are still here. You're butthurt over "the 15th" still think tip.it staff is on a downward spiral of whatever adjective you want to use - and still here fighting like it's life and death. To be bluntly critical, I think the only reason you're half as upset with the sig removals is it killed your only real advertising for your site. i''ve looked around on a fake name - it's not that active and bustling with life as most new startups are typically. Personally I'd like to see the script [cabbage] dropped (an answer will come soon enough, i'd wager, and until then - it's a giant pissing contest) and the discussion actually focus on other examples of overmoderation if they exist. Why do I say *if* they exist? in my three years, I probably handled oh 10 or 15 complaints of biased moderation. Thats it. I'd say of those 15 cases at most, maybe 1 or 2 were biased on our part. We addressed those cases swiftly and looking back at the users who made the complaints - I can tell you they are not bitter and as angsty/angry as you guys are. I know someone will flame the [bleep] out of me for this, I'm aware that this view won't be popular, but it's my view. I'm not saying it to kiss ass to come back, because to be honest, coming back is one of the last things right now I want to do, it's a time consuming, [cabbage]ty, thankless job that eats up your free time and stresses you the [bleep] out. I'm sure if I was masochistic or stupid enough to want to come back, they'd take me regardless of my views on this subject. Lastly in closing. Y_Guy doesn't play runescape anymore - But I can tell you as far as clans go - he's one of the most knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking son's of a gun i've met. If I was running a buisness, I'd hire him without hesitation. He's a professional and by far, Him, Nobody, Laikrob, kim and everyone who has ever been clan staff were beyond amazing. I can safely say with confidence when it comes for me being a part of that team - i was always the weakest link. am i putting myself down? Nope - I'd say I was pretty damn useful and awesome - but it's a TEAM effort, and as a whole, the tip.it team is user minded and very concerned with making this the most kick ass place ever. That goes from Crew to Tet to Clans to Editorals to Mod's because together they are one. It's a team of volunteers, worldwide. not perfect, not flawless, but overall, some of the best people i've ever managed, and i get paid to manage people in real life and often at times found the group here, more professional, dedicated and hardworking. And these guys work lots of long hours in free tme for free. for the love of the community. ~Das Tip.it User 2001-2011
  7. It's never changed anything in the past, although it would be fun to take part in one and be a part of RS history. If people really want to show Jagex that botting is a serious problem, then all the members need to cancel their memberships until something is done. That would hit them in the one place that seems to matter: their pocketbook. How does something like a riot get organized, I wonder? People have to care about the issue, when it comes to botting - they wont.
  8. One of Tip.it's most dedicated and better SuperMod's. It's a well deserved promotion and should have happened much sooner. I'm quite confident that the forum is in good hands with Jimmy Jim. It makes me feel better about resigning knowing he's an admin. ~DaS

    Shaving thread

    1) Trim usually, i'm flexbible and take requests based on who may be down there. 2)No i use the Gillette Fusion Proglide for a clean shave. You can buy the blade/handle for about $15-20 - Blade Refills are usually $25-30 for 8 blades. I find I cannot get a close shave with anything electric. I'm a business professional, so I have to look professional. I probably own 3-4 electric razors I never use due to the lackluster shave. I'm a Gillette [bleep] actually. I use the foam shaving cream they have as well. I rock a goatee - and to trim it and keep it looking good I used a Wahl Trimmer, I bought it about 5 years ago, so no clue on the model. but it serves me well. Here's an example Trying to shave without cream generally is alot rougher unless it's a new blade.
  10. The emote is a classic, leave it. People will be dumb and irritating as hell regardless if they have emotes to help them
  11. Puerto Rico is an "unincorporated territory" of the United States. You cannot compare it to the west bank..lmao. The U.S. Supreme Court's Insular Cases defined that as a :"a territory appurtenant and belonging to the United States, but not a part of the United States."

    Megan is Missing

Okay, I watched it. I'm a horror fan and a cinema lover. I've seen worse. But I can see why it affects people. The first 45 minutes were pretty lackluster. The party scenes were tame, scripted and those couldn't really be too controversial. KIDS is a film that much more realistically captured teen partying with dire consequences. Hell to a degree the movie Keith portrayed teen problems better. The shy girl was likeable, but the wild party girl was pretty hateable, she was built up to a level where she annoyed me greatly. The first 40ish minutes was the equivalent of watching a documentary on two BFF's. Then comes the "pictures" around the 50-60 minute mark. I found it somewhat repulsive it blamed the "Fetish" community for the pictures as a method of circulation 1) that's shallow as thats beyond "normal" or "accepted" fetishism. those pictures - especially the first bordered on obscenity and would likely never circulate on your average "Fetish" site. I've seen fetish sites shut down for less. That being said - i've seen more extreme pictures - both of gore and "Fetish" activities browsing 4chan out of boredom. Next comes the cell scenes - which are fairly boring and no more disturbing than numerous other films. The Rape scene - was very brutal, I have to admit, it made me flinch - but it will never surpass the original last house on the left (the grainy film made it all too real) - Or Salo which is on the criterion label (check your country, as it's banned in some still i think). I mention that one because you stand a strong chance of encountering it in a university film class. The barrel scene was disgusting - but I can name multiple horror movies in the last decade with more gore and disturbing images of dead people (hostel 1,2, saw 1-6, night of the demons remake, Dark Reel, human centipede. I actually forgot a few in the middle of my thought here, dang) To be honest, episodes of CSI and BONES have disturbed me more than that scene. The digging scene...well...that was awkward. the reaction didn't seem natural and the fact it dragged on for 12 minutes seemed overly excessive. if someone put me in a barrel, under those circumstances, i'd probably me distraught over whats in the barrel with me - the begging seemed very...unrealstic? she said i love you like 2-6 times? seemed very unusual and fake. Wouldn't she be out of air? I can see why the film could be disturbing, but overall felt it was a cheesy exploitation film that has no artistic or worthwhile value. I own some horrible movies (Sci fi originals, Spit on your grave) and personally feel this is worse than most B or C list horror movies.
  13. Don't forget an atheist. Would be a diaster then - the others wouldn't focus on theology, but conversion.
  14. Blue107- perm banned 10/12/2007 - can't say I expected you to ever post

    Buying from Amazon?

Buying direct from amazon is buying it new. I order from them almost biweekly (mostly toys, dvd's and video games). I choose Amazon for DVD's, Video Games, etc over a retailer usually. I've learned to love them. 13 orders so far in 2011 27 orders in 2010 22 in 2009 14 in 2008 2 in 2007 Amazon has slowly became my go to place for media I say this as an ebayer with 760+ feedback - avoid it for big $$$ electronics
  16. most "christian" groups don't exactly believe the same thing anyways. It would be amusing to lock a Catholic, Baptist, Mormon, Jehovas Witness and someone from the church of god in the same room to discuss theology.

    Megan is Missing

never heard of it, people seemed shocked and appalled by it though. Is this like an I spit on your grave type/hostel film?
  20. Because the whistle blower labeled it "torture," which is hilarious in the same way as an elementary school student crying "cruel and unusual punishment" when his mother takes away his Xbox for a weekend - making it out to be something so much worse than what it really is, in hopes of finding sympathy. Theres nothing humane about beating someone with a pipe or sleep deprivation.
  21. What does that sign look like my good man?
  22. As compared to what, exactly? Can you so easily condemn China for forcing people to play WoW (those bastards!)? If, say, the Americans made an al-Qaeda "terrorist" play Runescape, non-stop, without ever letting him sleep, would that be considered torture too? Would you condemn that too? Yes. Your point? Yes to both, Like Queyneax, I'd love to hear your point other than trying to get out of the fact you didn't read (i hope) and then laughed at torture and are trying to downplay the situation
  23. I was unaware that anything I said was any less relevant than anything you posted, are we all not equal? I think it's a gross midjudgement to say people would stop paying for a game or a service if they truly did care about human rights. Articles like these can often be a gateway for people especially the young and impressionable minds to wake up to the unfair reality that can happen in countries with a lesser emphasis on democracy, freedom and human right's. Amnesty international is far from perfect anyways. Steven Beste makes an interesting case here I'd consider basic human rights the same, but what can you expect from a country who has limited the amount of children a couple has. An Injustice is still an injustice and it merits discussion, in this case the injustice actually has a merit on gaming and runescape. it's worth discussion. China is a growing economic super-house - a Member of the UN - this will instantly put them under more scrutiny than say Libya or a corrupt Mexico consumed by a drug war. In the days of Socialnetworking and instantaneous news from twitter, facebook and real time citizen reporting (not that facebook is allowed in china with some of the toughest censorship laws around) - no one is a sovereign nation free from worldwide scrutiny from a violation of civil rights in this technological age. Social Media is growing and harder to control on a worldwide scale. To us in a western democracy, we all are humans, we are all equal and we are all worthy of the same basic human rights. Yeah, i'm sure you've had it real rough. other people have too - the fact people are being sleep deprived and forced to play a game is still morally wrong, it's not really something that can be easily justified.
