  1. Especially since fault still lies with both sides imo at trying to work things out. It's becoming increasingly clear again - that some of you guys really have no intention of working things out here. Some of you - Like yourself Nifflin - do have that intent and I hope this [cabbage] ends soon, but some like grimy, never had a [bleep]ing desire to work it out, I know I spent hours talking to him as an admin as was all but blown off as he "never intended to agree"
  2. sadly i'm to the age where summer just means another day at the office!
  3. *Rants will die! Drinking and posting man, it's fun, funner when you're an admin though :P
  4. Is there any way you can provide proof to back this up? I just have a hard time taking anyone's, not just your, word on a topic in such a grey area, especially since I have heard conflicting information from multiple sources. Unless things have changed quickly, It should be simple enough to paste the reply from Jagex.
  5. Here's a brilliant concept: Forward said code on to the Tip.it Jagex Liaison as part our "platinum" ranking and get an official statement that can be deemed/illegal or not. It's an email away still right? The people in support are not authorities on Macro's and Neither is anyone in the Administration as we are players to or at least that seems to be how the users feel, so I don't think it should be too difficult to get an official statement. I'd do it myself but that would make me a bad boy ;)
  6. why curtail discussion and inhibit it? Bot's pertain to runescape and in a game environment thats lacking game-breaking updates people will talk about what the "issues" in runescape - and bots ARE the issues. If Jagex comes here - they need to see players feel bots are out of control, they could miss a sticky. With metagaming in it's own forum, general will slow down Using this picture Look at the dates = two+ days of threads visible from the main page. remove those bot threads and general will look dead - if people wanted to talk about other things, they might actually reply to them!
  7. Because my time seems better spent doing other things and as a result getting far more enjoyment out of life with much less stress.
  8. I do agree with tripsis that standards do need to be maintained for content in outgoing links in signatures. I do - from my limited knowledge as a user (after getting both sides stories) think both sides could of handled it better. Neither side is perfect imo.
  9. it passed the "das would sleep would it test. Every woman posted so far on this page does.
  10. You know as well as I do how close of a line it is to walk, personally I felt admitting rulebreaking should apply to achievement threads and not be used as ammunition to warn/punish/remove posts, whatever has been, or might be done to curtail intelligent discussion. Part of the problem though is people never see whats removed so to some users, various levels of quality posts were removed. I've been following this for awhile out of sheer interest and haven't personally seen much groundbreaking thought removed, then again, I've got no way to doublecheck that. That blew my mind too, and is one factor I'm thrilled to not touch anymore, i'd say we got 2 or 3 fraudulent info requests we had to deny weekly. lol I gotta admit I can't see the posts removed (this user business is rough) I have to admit there were some posts I meant to reply too that have been removed, it's annoying for me as a user
  11. I used to hold that view until i realized jagex doesn't care - why should I? I got my personal honor that fuels my pride and satisfactions of my personal goals. thats all i need.
  12. Yes because a single thing I say in a whole paragraph sums the whole thing up. Yes, it gives me an idea about the kind of person they are. I like to have friends who I can trust to play in the same vein as me, with the same general likes and dislikes. Cheating is a big dislike for me. Some people may condone it but it is nothing short of cheating to me. Cheating = bad. I won't delete somebody just because they may do something in the future, but it does come into the equation. People have no end of reasons why they may like/dislike people. Not everybody is the same. Just like how now i would have deleted you for belittling somebodies opinion with a pointless post, making you look like you do not care at all for opinions, on a topic which is almost completely about personal opinion. In a gamestate where the creators don't seem to give two flying F-bombs about cheating- why should you? i'm 100% legit but Judging someone's character based on how they play a game that's apathetically ran is laughable at best. While I don't know anyone currently botting - I knew quite a few people who have partaken in RWT and I don't consider them bad people or worth cutting ties from.
  13. well i'm honored. Otherwise i still maintain an eagle scout with marksman ability would fare well.
  14. what the piss do I have to do with zombies asides my ability slaughter them? ;)
  15. Either way they are trite replacements for people who can't earn a skillcape. In july i've played for 10 years, who cares? I played Classic? I actually have bunny ears and a scythe to prove i played and didn't just log in on rs2. 10 years of members in feb 2012....at $600, Jagex should just make me a lifetime member. xD
  16. Sorry, as someone with alot more DG xp than you , can't say i've noticed getting any LESS XP from not killing them, so i'm inclined to believe Jagex that ignoring them does nothing. ~Das
  17. Mirrorforced summed up my reply to racheya almost perfectly. I do think the staff needs more transparency with the users, but will concede, I have no clue how to begin to start it in a manner that isn't a slippery slope
  18. Perspective. I've always maintained the viewpoint that every post a moderator or administrator makes IS in essence Moderation. You're posting on behalf of the site you work for and represent and thus are moderating without using your tools. A moderator is a leader, a user of influence who has tools to help guide and lead discussion. Locking/Warning are strictly tools a moderator has to make the boards smoother, not what actually makes you a moderator. You can moderate a thread often without ever having to use a tool
  19. Holy hell, you're not dumb enough to think PMOD reports get processed instantly are you? As a Pmod since the second or third wave, I can tell you from experience as a pmod (half a decade plus of it) - that it's not an instant process, specially when it comes to macro detection I'd bet you 50 bucks I could go report every ess miner on every world and not one would log out ANYTIME in the next 3-4 hours or longer. The Pmod system is flawed and those poor bastards chosen for it are cuckolded to a facade of power, respect and hope of a better game. Jagex doesn't really seem to give a [bleep] about stopping macros though, it's evident from playtime.
  20. I think it's a horrible idea for the community at large to discuss temporary bans. I obviously don't say that as staff either. Allow me to elaborate as an educated user that is familiar with the ban process in entirety. Temp bans can be quick in terms of length - 3 or 5 days often isn't enough time for a consensus to be reached - one could be done hastily, but the actual post history is reviewed and not just the bad stuff, and that takes time - lots of time, more time than I wanted to spare - I put in an average of 2-4 hours of research per appeal - Considering people took the time to counter any arguements I had (either for keeping the ban or unbanning) with other post examples - pretty sure I wasn't alone in how much time I spent researching . The majority of temp ban's are fairly cut and dry and actually boring. there wouldn't be much to discuss for a vast majority of them. Then some appeals could be interesting - but people choose to write crap like "[bleep] you guys, I didn't deserve it becaue i got 9k posts or something yada yada yada " - and thats a quick no. banned people put surprisingly little effort into appeals here For Perm Ban's - I think this idea could have merit actually but the problem is most offensive posts are whisked away to a private forum as soon as they occur and the majority of the public never sees them giving the user thats banned a better reputation then they deserve with their posting style. I'd argue the users only see the "Good side" of the users and would just as biased as those who they accuse of being biased due to only seeing the "bad side of them." I'd suggest instead perhaps having a community watch - maybe giving 5 or 10 users a chance to contribute to the ban appeals monthly and see how it's done. I do think Tip.it is overmoderated, I also think almost every single collectible forum I visit is (Multiple ones for sports cards, Action figures and autographs). The irony is - unless we're talking about /b/ - almost any forum will have moderation complaints. it's unavoidable. I mean, one of the most lax forums I use (where I have had an oversized avatar by 2 MB for a year lax) - Has had accusations of biased bans and crap. So it's everywhere I think the difference is Tip.it seems to genuinely care about making the board a better place overall for it's users. I don't think anyone's perfect, and certainly I could issue a laundry list of improvements for tip.it, but I think the heart of the staff is in the right place. And Change isn't going to happen if both sides (users as much as staff) are hellbent on calling each other stupid and attacking everything each other says. ~Das
