I say that as a Pmod of an equal or greater timeframe - I don't remember how long I've been one, but my feelings and sentiments come from my pent up frustration of what you just said. It's nice to know i'm not alone.
-
You don't see me disagreeing. I'm just saying since people seem to be bickering about pmod's - the system is flawed, outdated and doing nothing more than cuckolding players with false hopes of a better game.
-
Pretty much what I was trying to say. xD you know I love my friends <3 ~Das

The Player Moderator system is nothing more than cuckolding the chosen players to some symbolical facade of power that has waned in importance, power and usefulness. In my opinion Jagex views Pmod's as nothing more than fancy status symbols for the community. The systems, flawed, outdated and badly in need of a revamp. It's a system that is only effective in muting players who commit certain types of offenses. If I thought Jagex could handle criticism, I'd elaborate, but i'm pretty sure they can't. It doesn't take a [bleep]ing rocket scientist to walk to essence mines, sorcerers garden <insert spot here> and see that the game is over-run with macro's - nor does it take a player to detect one. The games flawed in macro detection, and as a player since july 2001, I'm pretty sure that anyone on this thread who actually plays the game knows deep down that we are infested with macro's and jagex has no real desire or drive to fix it.

I'd like to think a select few friendships i've made in runescape and tip.it will exist beyond runescapes existence - without a doubt, I'll concede It's a lasting effect of playing runescape, but it's not mutually exclusive to runescape. However I still wouldn't compare it to a job. The average person requires a job to well, survive in the world. Not the same with runescape. You can make friends through hobbies/other games. I wouldn't trade the friends I made on runescape for ANYTHING - but realistically you could write the "run escape" article about any video game with a chat function from Black Ops, Secondlife, Wow to everquest. You could write it about any collecting hobby. I can state i've made some good friendships that have transcended the game. but I can also say If I never logged on to runescape again for my own enjoyment (but say for 99 parties etc for friends) I'm fairly confident i'd keep these friendships as they are not codependent with me playing

Anyone can make anything an outlet for tension and stress. Hobbies/Sports/other games/etc. Runescape won't be around forever, and to think it will have a lasting effect after Jagex shuts it down will be hard to quantify for your average player.

Comparing runescape to a job, is to me - ignorant and misguided at best. A job provides money to buy wasteful things (more on this in a second), provide needs for yourself and perhaps make purchases that have a lasting effect on your life (a car, a mortgage?). Runescape is nothing more than a timewaste, it cannot provide a source of income (unless you are breaking rules), provide a positive material influence in your life. Runescapes a wasteful thing that is a byproduct of perhaps a job. You can say friends and Clanmates keep everyone here, but take my former position here at tip.it. I worked here with a great crew of people I enjoyed talking too for the most part, comparable to your same reasons of why I should stick around runescape - the fact is - My reasons for leaving outweighed my awesome staff I enjoyed chatting with. We live in a digital age. I can text my old coworkers from over 6 years ago and keep up with them, I can skype with the staff i liked here. I can chat with my old runescape friends on a messenger. Contact is easier than ever. I'd to think Sir_Squab hit part of the nail on the head, the other part being the new daily/weekly events. with penguins/assisting/circus - it's easy to get small chunks of xp in no time and log on and do a quick routine that takes no real dedication and doing so becomes a habit.

Why doesn't Jagex incorporate this to stop bots?

Warden and Punkbuster are installed knowingly by the person thus they are not spyware - however I frown upon both services because anyone who has ever spent time in those games knows how damn useless they are. They really don't improve their communities and do nothing but eat up resources - a minimal amount on todays machines, but still it's an extra feature that doesn't really serve it's purpose. -
Ms Lily is a hottie Lost was full of hot women!

New Forum: Metagame Discussion

You've obviously got all the facts straight and know exactly what you are talking about. Kind of the problem we have these days... As for the forum, Thanks alot! The help is greatly appreciated and we'll try and do everything in our power to make it a success. The 2 H&A might become an issue, but we'll see how it goes. Actually i'd say she does - which gives her, a right to her own view and opinion - her and I chat often. She's my go to person when it comes to seeking sage advice. I'll be keeping an eye on the new forum ~Das -

Is anyone else just completely disappointed with everyone?

I've seen people leave tip.it to make other sites, i'll let you on some old knowledge, I was one of them at one point long ago. What drove me away is that the administrators never conceded fault, never seemed to get out of their freaking ivory towers here and care. I care, and i hope my feeble passion is enough to ignite change that betters the community for us all, makes us all stronger and improves tip.it to make it a better an forum for the users, by the users. -

Hell, I don't want to be myself right now, i'd love to be just a normal user on this thread, but i'm not. I'm a leader, or supposed to be and although it would be somewhat satisfying to simply say "It's gone this far, I can't stop it, I can't change it and resign" - I can't go down like that, I can't let it go without fighting for what I as a user, an individual feel is right. it's dawned on me that my last 3 years of work withstanding, this will be the moment that I look back and define my contributions to the forum on - did i fight for the users? or did i hang in the shadows, ashamed and silent. As I said prior, I cannot make change happen for myself, but i'm fighting for it and working on it. No one is above the rules, myself included - but I'm hoping to reach out and admit that as myself, Das the user that i've felt we have as much blood on our hands as they do theirs and I seek nothing more than to resolve it. Call it empty. call it stupid or foolish, I prefer to think of it as dedicated to the community - which is where as a user, and as an administrator, my interests will always be. they may not be what is popular, what is even right, but they are what I believe in - and I cannot stand by silent -

fook, i've been here as long as you and never seen two admins in public admit they messed up and apologized and say they want to work for change. -

I'm going to write this post as Das the user, not the admin, I don't know if I can do that - but I've always had a penchant for doing what I was felt was right. This is that moment. I agree with this. I can't say i'm proud of or that I can defend every action we have made the past few days. I don't think the other party can do it either. In my view, we made lot's of mistakes. Not everyone will agree with me i'm sure - be it users, staff, admins, but I feel we made mistakes and it breaks my heart - I can't say I'm proud to be an administrator at this moment. I've made my entire career into trying to help make a fair tip.it, ran by the users, for the users. Tonight I'll be honest, i've spent time reflecting wondering if I messed up, if I failed myself. I'm just a user with a red rank, I'm not god, I can't remove warnings and undue bans myself at the drop of a hat, but i'm working on it, i'm trying to get it done, if it's the last thing I do,. and although it may sound hollow, I hope the disgruntled parties work with me here at solving this. ~Das
