October 18, 201015 yr Handegg.. Or as Americans call it football. Here is just 3 simple reasons for the name of the sport to be changed Reason 1: Americans are essentially one of the only countries who play this sport. Alas, the name is already taken by another sport; a sport referred to as soccer by the United States, but football by the rest of the world. Reason 2: In American football, you don't even use your feet at all other then for running... Why FOOTball? Reason 3: You aren't even using a ball! This is the definition of a ball A spherical object or entity such as this or this or even this As you can see, this IS NOT SPHERICAL!! It is more oval-ish, like an egg.+ You tend to hold it in your arm/hand. Thoughts? Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

October 18, 201015 yr i agree that football should be called something else, never could figure out why its called football when you only kick the football during a fieldgoal or punt, and im american, and what pisses me off everyone in my school thinks soccer is a girl sport and im like "aha go [bleep] yourself The once was a mexican called pepsi,Or maybe it's just he had Hep C,He was a pretty cool bro,Bros generally are you know,He hailed from the land of 'taters,He was known to hate many-a-hater,He likes a girl named Lacey,His thoughts about her are kind of racy,And also his dad likes to [rooster].
October 18, 201015 yr Who cares. Accuracy in names has never been an American forte. "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder."

October 18, 201015 yr 1. Sigh. Canada plays it (CFL), Mexico plays it (ONEFA), UK has leagues (BAFACL), Japan plays it (X-league), Germany (GFL), and Italy (IFL). What about the Central European Football League (CEFL) which includes Hungary, Serbia, Slovania, Austria, and Turkey? What about the European Federation of American Football which includes people like Norway, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, and Russia? You're right, virtually no one else except the US plays it. 2. Do you even know the rules or the game? Clearly not. You use your feet for more then running.

October 19, 201015 yr Handegg sounds [developmentally delayed]ed, but it's better than the false name of Football :P I agree with the former, but not the latter. Football is what it's been called for years. There's an established history in the league of that name. Honestly why bother changing it now? NHEL just doesn't have the same ring as NFL. October 19, 201015 yr 1) You use your feet for kick-offs, punts, field goals, and running. Sure, it's not the majority of the game, so what? 2) Handegg? Really? No offense, but that's a horrible name.3) Just because football is used in other countries doesn't mean we can't call our sport Football. This is a different country after all.4) The definition from dictionary.com adds "or spherical; a round or roundish". It's not perfectly round, but it's roundish. Take a circle, squish it in the middle a bit, and you have a football shape, or an oval. 5) Why does everyone care so much? The reason we call it football is because Soccer (I'm saying soccer to prevent confusion, back then it was football, bear with me) had a split between players who wanted to use their hands vs. players who want no hands at all. Those who wanted to use their hands split, and eventually formed American Football, while those who wanted to keep the no hands rule stayed Football in other countries. Americans didn't want to have two sports the same, so we renamed Football (with the feet) to Soccer. That's basically the short of it. And no, the name won't change. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
October 29, 201015 yr If a ball is defined as a round, spherical object, then I am sorry...the "ball" used in "soccer" doesn't follow the rules either. The shape of a soccer ball is a truncated icosahedron. So untill you're going to rename soccer to "foot-truncated icosahedron" and rename american football to "handegg" at the same time, they'll both stay football. The full name for soccer is "Association football." The full name for the game we play in america is "American football." Both uses of the word "football" are not even the actual name of the sport; they are nicknames. 1. You use your feet for more then running.like what? all i think of is feild goals or punts, and soccer still uses their feet more then football Well if we are going to name a sport after what the ball is in contact with the most, then soccer should clearly be renamed "grassball" Calling American football "football" makes sense because it is the only sport that was played here that allows and actually requires contact of the ball with the foot. I mean its the first damn thing you do in the game...kick it. Its how the game starts....whatever... If you wanted to call american football "handegg" or "handball" or anything like that, it wouldnt make sense. The names of sports highlight the unique qualities "Baseball" only sport with bases"Basketball" only sport with baskets"Handegg" only sport where you hold the ball.....errr...wait!
