  1. That looks like a fury (t) to me...

Hmm. Soon, I will begin construction on a flooding chamber for invasions and nobles; activatable by either pressure pad or by lever. Oh, and remember the thing I had to slaughter a cougar for earlier? Well, the guy ended up making a stupid toy boat. So now, I've got a legendary bracelet, toy boat, and cabinet. What next, legendary wooden crossbow bolts?

Same thing sorta happened to me, Ross, except I had my army go slaughter a cougar that was walking around too close to my fort. I then had to build a butcher's shop right next to the damn corpse because my butcher was saying it was too far away. How do I get my dwarves to move stuff like corpses without having a stockpile of the stuff?
  4. I did a level 3 clue and got some zammy arrows.... then got an elite off iron dragons, and ended up with a bunch of potions and firelighters. Should've screenshotted; will screenshot the next few clues.

I have one of almost every workshop - and multiples of some - and yet, I'm just too lazy to get my dwarves their own rooms. I'm hoping to get a noble soon. Just so I can drown him.

That's new. Tech thinks I'm a druggie. I should really name my military squad after Dungeoneering characters. Just for kicks.
  7. Jehosaphat replied to Iconic's topic in Off-Topic
Dare I ask what Tech has me set as...? (inb4hauler)

I just got a mssive migrant wave - turning most of the stupid lye makers into soldiers to die for the fort.
  9. Jehosaphat replied to Iconic's topic in Off-Topic
I put my miners into the military while my other dwarves clear out rubble and crap from all the rooms I made. Thing is, the miners are too stupid to go get some training spears. Even though they're part of the uniform.

Mine have made artifact earrings, amulets, cups.... They could probably make artifact soap. Menacing with spikes of tiger eye, of course.

Maybe because you don't have the right workshop for him to claim. Errr, nevermind. Late post was late.
  12. To whomever is spewing crap about bosshunting on a PvP world: Have fun bosshunting while risking a crapload without extremes or overloads. Maybe I'll come kill you someday - it'll be much easier with Graardor hitting you too.

You can build the farm without waiting for it to evaporate.

Sorry for the double post, but.... BLASTED SMITH DWARF. He just wasted perfectly good steel on an earring. And now he's a legendary metal crafter - also known as "the skill that wastes metal on making pointless crap for trading." Must... resist.... urge.... to.... cavein.... smithy....
  15. Jehosaphat replied to Iconic's topic in Off-Topic
Use a cat. On a more pleasant note, my smithy just went into a fey mood and grabbed some steel.... this could be good.

Depends on how you make the farm. If you try to bring the water to the farm, it makes a huge mess. If you try to bring the farm to the water.... well, I haven't tried that yet. Tech, build a bunch of drawbridges. As in enough to totally cross your moat. Then use them as a wall until your enemies get too close to them.... Then atomsmash their faces off.
  17. Jehosaphat replied to Iconic's topic in Off-Topic
I have it set up so that a goblin crosses a hatch, then steps on a pressure plate that makes the hatch open. After that, there are some spikes, then a pressure plate, then a hatch connected to the pressure plate. So the goblin/critter/whatever can go in, but it can't get out. Oh yeah, and I deliberately tried selling a log to elven traders. More invaders to die in my traps wheeeee Gah, one of my Original 7 - miner no. 1 - just died due to injuries from a cavein. Time to unceremoniously chuck him into a lake.

Enough units of water to make something drown; I'd go with 7 just to be safe. And I think it's very much like the goblin grinder, Rocco.
  19. Jehosaphat replied to Iconic's topic in Off-Topic
You and me both. And Tech, it could only be used as a moat if it's either completely flooded or has no way up or down the walls. Since trench-digging automatically turns it into a ramp, your best bet is to flood. On another note, I just got a legendary woodcrafter. Now if only it had been carpentry.... Oh well. Guess I get to sell pro wooden toys to traders when they come by. Oh, and my perpetual pressure pad/spike death trap is nearing completion.

Ah, drawbridges. Also known as "Dwarven Stuff Launchers" and "Dwarven Atom Smashers."
  21. Jehosaphat replied to Iconic's topic in Off-Topic
I plan to build a water trap, a perpetual pressure pad death trap, and a few cage traps for good measure on top of those. Bring it on, goblins. BRING. IT. ON.

My jeweler went insane from an unfulfilled secretive mood right as everyone else started dying of thirst. So I let the rabid dwarf go kill people until my crossbow squad arrived.
  23. BAHAHAHAHA. Drawbridges are EPIC. Despite the fact that I launched one dwarf then crushed another with one. Now to find some magma... Edit: As I wrote this, my gem cutter was possessed. Fun.
  24. So I smoothed some stone and had my masons engrave it. Most of the engravings so far have been of food, booze, and a particularly repetitive one of my expedition leader surrounded by donkeys. Sounds accurate....
  25. Hmm. I just learned a bit about accidentally flooding underground plots to make a farm. Thankfully, the farm was far, far underground. Much farther than the rest of my base. And I only tapped into a lake, so...
