  1. It seems some people misread "General Discussion" as "Off Topic." This is not the place to debate gun laws. If you want to do that, there are several topics currently in Off Topic doing just that. I will remove any post that continues this asinine branch of discussion. Stay on topic.
  2. I wasn't aware people like this still existed: people who were willing to cripple a game for a stop-gap prevention method that didn't even solve what it intended. It sure as [bleep] wasn't buying them time to be used for development to solve the underlying causes.

That isn't what I asked you. Yes it obviously comes down to a matter of opinion, but we're talking about quantifiable traits, not opinions. Price isn't the only factor like that. Enjoyment is the odd-one-out and always dependent on the person, but we're not talking about whether Johnny likes something more than Sally. You're trying to cut to the heart of the discussion because you're tired of the back and forth, but cutting to that also kills the discussion because if we distill that down so far, there's nothing to talk about.

If you enjoy both console gaming and pc gaming equally, then cost does become the major factor. Since many people like both, it becomes the only point of contention, doesn't it?
  5. It's just so hard to get used to. You can tell scenes where Jordan left really good notes, such as when It was like reading it from Jordan himself. But others like are written in such an alien way that it's...ugh it's kind of @_@

I said I had a midline gaming laptop and several consoles. I never said I had a top tier desktop PC. I don't have the funds to build a top of the line machine yet. If lacking the funds to build one defines you as a "casual" - which is a laughable term, especially when used as you have - then I have to wonder where you fall in this ambiguous "casual" and "pro" labels you chuck around. I am well aware of the advanced features that you claim I don't know about. Long gone are the days where you had to be an "advanced user" in order to have a top-of-the line, home built PC, though. RAID, btw, isn't necessary for a top tier gaming rig. They're for advanced users who want redundancy and insurance against hdd failure. To mention it as being one of the "defining" traits that separate "casuals" from "pros" in gaming is confusing, to say the least. You imply that having multiple gaming consoles devalues them as a gaming enthusiast. Please explain what you mean here, because that seems like quite the assumption. And an incorrect one at that. They are not a mutually exclusive thing by any stretch of the imagination, and to imply otherwise only lessens your credibility and weakens your argument. As for what you claim are my own assumptions...if they were false, you would have an answer for my questions. You show your ignorance about what you're debating against when you bandy about terms you don't even understand and fail to listen to the people you're actually talking with by citing things they never even said. To put it bluntly, you're talking out of your ass. You don't understand what is essential and what isn't when building a desktop (let alone purchasing premade!) and how it affects the bottom line price of what you're paying. You quote RAID, xfire, and dualmonitors as if they're essential to your build. You can't conclude that anything is more expensive than the other when you don't even understand what the costs are associated with it. That's why it's pointless to compare costs though. You're paying to make the most of that technical superiority. Pah, that's not even the worst of that point - the worst is that yet again people are comparing apples and oranges.
  7. I'm finally able to read the books written after Robert Jordan's death in the Wheel of Time series. They're so...sloppy. The writing style is like a man writing a YA novel version of the WoT series. It's getting me so frustrated, especially when he takes "liberties" with character traits that weren't expressly noted in Jordan's dictations. It makes me sad to see it, and I can't help but wonder if maybe they shouldn't have finished it - if it gets much worse, then they certainly shouldn't have. But meh. It's an impossible task Sanderson was faced with, so I guess I shouldn't be so critical. Other similar situations (like with Marion Zimmer Bradley and Diana Paxson) struggled with this as well. I just don't remember it being so obvious and separate in quality. @_@
  8. Moved to Forum Games.
  9. No one is saying that it's real-time. No one is saying that they only work one day out of the week. Just that information and actual tweaks trickle out at a snails pace. I don't understand why that's a comment that sparks so many people to rear up like angry cats and spit in Jagex's defense when they're called slow, especially when compared to other betas out there. @_@ Good lord.
  10. Not scornful of the beta - scornful of the slow progress and unrealistic expectations. You are putting words in my mouth.
  11. No, you're right. It doesn't. Their (lack of) progress does. Which is why I made a tongue-in-cheek comment about extending beta clothing opportunities.
  12. Aka "oh crap this beta will go on a lot longer than we thought, better stretch this event weekend thing out"
  13. I already told you they did. I don't mean a screenshot of ingame GP I mean an actual photo of actual money a la Matt Immam/Funnyjunk ...And I already told you. They posted pictures of cash stacks elsewhere. You can easily see it via their yt channels. I can see how you made the mistake, though.
  14. How can you claim there's too much spent on QA when you don't even know how much is spent there to begin with? I agree with pretty much all other points, since they're pretty reasonable and rational. No, we can't expect bug-free code. That said, this wasn't even an obscure method of duping, it was pretty much normal function.
  15. Things like these are good ways to get people to be long-term subscribers. If we're stuck with things like the SoF, I don't mind seeing them used in this manner.
  16. How about now..? The thing about coming back in and trying to triumphantly smear someone not believing a story is that it makes you look horribly, terribly foolish. He said what many were thinking, and if you never thought it for even a second, you're lying.
  17. At the 10yr mark in their life, the point I and many others are trying to make, is that their hands shouldn't be "tied" anymore. It's not as if this is a new game with a developing system to catch bug abusers, RWTers, bots, what have you. Things this glaringly obvious should not be able to happen regardless, let alone unable to clean up afterwards. This happens like clockwork almost every year with, as Ring_World cleverly pointed out, dozens more that the public doesn't even know about just waiting to be used. There should never be a point where they wholly rely on the community to catch these things- and that's all they've ever done. The moment this mass trading/buying started, flags/bells/whistles/explosions/streakers should have started going off to alert them so they could investigate where the gold was coming from. Not before, when someone finally piped up. It's pathetic.
  18. I can tell you they did not make the list up =] I can also reliably tell you that they didn't do as good a job cleaning up as they thought they did. It's all moot. The damage is done. And I place the blame in parts on the abusers, but mostly at Jagex's feet.
  19. Nah I don't really think the rarity went up per piece obtained. They're just uncommon. I've got no data to support it either way though.
  20. The results I'm seeing say that integrated card has 348MB? In any case you should be fine, the game draws more heavily on the CPU than the gfx card. Here's an optimization guide I found, provided by google-fu:
  21. Guys, please remember that the forum rules still apply here. If you don't like someone, use the ignore list. If you don't like a point someone made, you can say so - but you have to elaborate as to why. Personal attacks or "trolling" (statements made that don't positively contribute to discussion and aggitate users) aren't tolerated here, and have no place in the quality environment you all work so hard to maintain here. PM me if you have any questions - or better yet, report those you see who are breaking the rules.
  22. Were they able to offload all their duped earnings yet? In the second video when they were taunting Jagex's incompetence at being unable to remove the duped wealth (which was well deserved; Jagex failed at literally every aspect of this) it seems like they still had quite a bit of wealth left that they didn't or couldn't sell yet. (And even 100k+ is hardly "set for life" if they're buying offshore homes, furnishing them, getting new jobs, hiring a lawyer on retainer, buying a new car, etc as everyone is imagining them doing.)
