  1. In an ideal world, the poor should be taxed just as much as the rich. All that would do is enlarge the poverty trap. The reason lower incomes are taxed at lower percents is because most (if not all) of their income goes to necessities: food, clothes, housing. There's little to no disposable income. But if someone's making $150k a year, after taxes and necessities, they still have a large amount of disposable income. Do you really think that the "uneducated moron" enjoys making next to nothing? Do you think that they love barely scraping by and not being able to go to the movies or driving their 1982 crapwagon? I'm sure if they could get another job, they would, but this isn't an economics text, this is the real world. Labor isn't as fluid as we would like to believe.

This. The show will probably be better, originals usually are.
  3. There's also quite a few gay sites that exclusively use straight men. They definitely play into the converting fantasies that everyone has. Pretty brilliant imo.
  4. Dammit, you beat me. Whether it's a choice or not is just as unimportant. If it's not a choice, then it's similar to race and deserves the same rights and protections. If it is a choice, then it's similar to religion and deserves the same rights and protections as well. The laws that forbid gays from marrying are just as oppressive and idiotic as not allowing interracial/non-white marriages or inter-religious/non-christian marriages. However, for some reason, most people are fine denying basic rights to gays. I wish logic wasn't such a foreign concept.
  5. I have a hunch that the business proposal of bottled water started out as a joke. Then, they realized how idiotic people were.
  6. Just so you know, a degree in management is pretty much the philosophy degree of business.
  7. To be able to use my college's internet connection, I had to download Bradford Dissolvable Agent[Caution: Executable File]. Did it just check my security settings or is it something that they can use to watch me? In HS, there was a program that was installed on all the computers, and the teachers could see what was on your screen at any time and if you were doing something you shouldn't, they could lock your computer. I'm worried it's something like that.
  8. Runescape Classic says hi.
  9. I have (I think) a 50% loss in both ears and I wear hearing aids. However, I'm not entirely sure if I hear when I dream, I've never really paid attention to that. I know that in some dreams I know what people are saying, but I can't remember if I just knew or if I heard them. I'm curious now, so I'll get back to you tomorrow morning.

    >i want to life. >life I WANT TO LIFE, TOO.
  11. Because if you hit B only because he's a different color/religion/sexuality than you it's a lot different than a fight with A because he doesn't like your favorite football team. However I do think that they're used a bit too liberally and abused. I lol'd.
  12. It's arguments like this that really confuse me. If you don't think it's wrong (you even accept the idea that it's natural), then why do you say it is? There's no point in following a religion if you don't believe it. Unfortunately, marriage is just as legal as it is religious. If it wasn't legal, heterosexual couples would require a civil union, too. In my opinion, marrige should be separate from the gov't; it should become simply a ceremony for religious people, but not have legal benefits. It should be similar to baptism; parents can have it done or not, but it doesn't legally impact the child in any way.
  13. I'm glad I'm not crazy. Or, at least I'm in good company.
  14. 1. Set alarm clock for 11:11 pm 2. Write a note: "If this life ends at 11:11 pm, China's entire population must an hero." 3. Go down in history for completing a massive genocide without even being alive. 4. ???? 5. PROFIT!
  15. Money laundering/embezzlement. Once I'm insanely rich, I'll learn the guitar.
  16. Well, the two civilizations are Occidental and Oriental, but you don't really play them seperately. Each civilation and their citizens need goods from the other type. They are played in tandem. As you build your city, the people in it can upgrade to different levels of citizenship (peasant, citizen, patrician, and noblemen), but they require goods to satisfy their needs. Once their needs are statisfied they can upgrade. What is really unique about this game is there isn't a tech tree. If you build building X and Y, it doesn't mean you can build Z. To unlock more buildings, you need to upgrade people to higher citizenships, and the more people of a certain level, the more buildings you'll have. It's a difficult game to explain because there's an incredible amount of different content. There's the campaign mode with 6 levels, each taking multiple hours to complete. There's also scenarios which take a significant amount of time to complete as well. Not to mention the continuous gameplay. It's an incredible game and if you're even remotely interested, there's a demo here; I promise you won't be disappointed.

Not really. Nicotine is the addictive substance in cigarettes. Which is in the smoke.
  18. Is anyone else completely addicted to this game? It's pretty much a cross between SimCity and Age of Empires (I've been told it's similar to Civilization, which I've never played, but it's not turn based). There is combat, but it's less about strategy and more about simply having the most and best troops/warships. It's a heavy strategy and economy management game. I got it a little over a week ago and have already logged 40+ hours in it. Time flies by while playing it, too; you'll sit down for what feels like 20 min and then you hear it tell you that you've been playing for 2 hours. So, anyone else have it? Demo (limited to two hours per session): http://anno.uk.ubi.com/pc/downloads.php#demos

But what if a meteorite crashes in an underground cave and contains the alien equivalent of dinosaurs that grow and evolve incredibly fast. They would start popping up on the surface in a matter of days wreaking havoc wherever they go, including malls. Of course, the gov't would hatch a plan to destroy these creatures with napalm, lots of it, without knowing that fire only speeds their growth even more. WHAT THEN?
  20. Your kidding about Kim right....she(he) has a penis..... No, you're thinking of Isis who was transgender.

If second-hand smoke was (almost) as bad as smoking a cigarette, it would be possible to get addicted to cigarettes just by being around other smokers. However, I've never seen anyone running to bars so they can be around smokers and get their fix, so that argument seems pretty invalid.
  22. I have seven, but I can't narrow it down. [hide=Angelina][/hide] [hide=Kim from ANTM][/hide] [hide=Jennifer Aniston][/hide] [hide=Vanessa Hudgens][/hide] [hide=Zac Efron][/hide] [hide=2/3 of the JoBros][/hide]
  23. This. Microsoft will probably settle or get the ruling overturned.

I recently downloaded Tor, but I can't get it to work. When I have it enabled for Firefox, all it does is "load" pages for a long time and eventually Firefox displays Page Load Error. I've played around with the settings, but nothing seems to help. Any help is appreciated.
