  1. I think this looks promising, but Im not in a clan so I guess I wont get to reap any benefits.
  2. Am I addicted? Yep. Does it affect my life? Nope. Do I care that I am addicted? Nope.
  3. My apologies if my post hindered debate and was taken personally. I was on a roll and my fingers were striking keys almost at muscle memory speeds. I would like to welcome a debate on ethical behavior if there is a challenger to my belief that there is a standard of moral code rather than relativism. Also, uath13, spot on post. A persons unethical behavior can and does affect others. By not giving back a dollar, one could potentially throw the balance of the register off resulting in money being taken from the cashier's paycheck.
  4. You just argued something that I already made a distinction about in earlier posts. There is a difference between in-game benefits and in-game opportunities. Loyalty Program = direct benefits (points). Paying for Members = opportunity. Having a Members account does not necessarily mean you will reap rewards from paying for the game. In the game, one must use the avatar to generate benefits. In the Loyalty Program, benefits are given based on the fact that you are giving Jagex money. Now, Jagex is giving you an option to use the points (or not), which is why I AM NOT AGAINST THE LOYALTY PROGRAM, but I contend it is undermining their own rules. Jagex owns the game and can do as they please, but they should not have a double standard for themselves and the players. Finally, I do not see how I am being nitpicky considering Newb asked for a citing of what I was arguing and I gave it to him. He presented a argument as well under the Honor clause of Jagex's rules. I see no nitpicking at all, we both did the same thing.
  5. From Runescape.com, under Rules Section: It says nothing about it being directed only at the players, and even if it did, the rule does not state that RWT is only against the rules when it comes to third party clients. Like I said, they pulled a play from Nixon's playbook. Also, call them bonuses/benefits/microtransactions, it does not change what is happening. I am NOT arguing that it will snowball into larger RWT through Jagex, but I do not like to see it anyway. However, I am a hyporcrite who will participate in the program.
  6. Ive gotten it too at LRC w84 and w77. The game does not come back after minimize and returning to it for me. I have to close it and log back in and I am running Windows7 64-bit, so as Nomrombom said: Java's fault.
  7. May be a double post but Im not on a good enough computer to edit my first to include this quote. I feel sorry for you and your moral relativism Thus. The basis of a free society rests upon the ability of one citizen to trust another in that they will adhere to the laws that govern the society. If everyone lies, cheats, steals, pillages, etc then you have anarchy, and unless you are a sick-sad-little-man who does not fully understand what it means to be human... then you should not support anarchy and I feel sorry for your failure at life. To kamykazee: Ethics are part of a code which people live by in order to ensure a free society. That is why it is a good quality to have and why people should practice it. The argument of ethics is not whether one should have them or not, but where to draw the lines. Unfortunately, you are correct in stating that this line of thought will take us to the philosophical realm for which this forum does not have the capacity to fit my many papers I wrote in college on the subject.
  8. First article has a lot of truth to it. Also, in terms of RS =/= school, the article says it all: If we cant practice ethics in the minor things, how can we do it when it is a big deal. This does equate to RS and Real Life. If you cant be ethical in a game, what makes you think that you will have the ability to discern ethical behavior in other situations? Forever Runescape Part 3: Great again, I love reading them. On the subject of the Melee Bias, I read it only to "know thy enemy". Not to say Necromagus is my enemy because he's not, but I am happy with the way RS is in terms of combat and I contend RS has always meant to be pro-melee. However, the Dev Blog on the new Mahjarrat quest states some new range/mage equipment, so Necromagus can be happy about that.
  9. Im not upset about the Loyalty Program. If all items are vanity, whatever, but it is still a transaction whether it is micro, minimal, or way out of proportion, which means it shouldnt be allowed unless Jagex changes their rules. Once again, I am not upset about the program or even that Jagex is doing it because I am excitied to see what I can get, as expressed by my post in the thread about the video Jagex released for the Loyalty Program. However, I still think they are breaking their own rule but saying its okay because they are doing it. The only thing my post was doing was pointing out how Jagex has admitted to what they are doing, yet still maintains that real money transactions cannot/should not have in-game benefits. If they want a program giving items out for real money spent (no matter how small or how large of a difference they make), they should modify their rules.
  10. Well, there are emotes there ... ouch. No need to worry about that. Isnt something my in-game avatar accomplishes huh? So its something my avatar gets for something I do IRL? Way to go Jagex, I just paid you real money in order to receive in-game benefits (items) rather than in-game opportunities (f2p vs p2p). I know the microtransaction thread is going on, but I cannot allow blatant abuse of Jagex's own rules confirmed by a Jagex Mod go unnoticed. Maybe when Jagex does it, its not illegal. I guess they took a play out of Richard Nixon's playbook on this one.
  11. ^Hence Chaotics. Look for such a continuing trend with alot of high level gear in the future. RS3? Yes. Starting fresh? ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you want to see groups of people really quit en masse, that would be the way to go. I surely would.
  12. At Makoto: Maybe so, but I was just pointing out that it can be adjusted. Then again, re-coding the game into that form might have more long-term benefits than just fixing the max cash problem. I'd rather Jagex think big picture than quick fix.
  13. It is set by Jagex and it can be raised. As discussed in an article from the Tip.it times, Jagex could change the "max" by moving to a long integer code.
  14. Unfortunately, what we need is higher prices and higher max cash. If the prices were higher, people would be able to actually make money on their skills. Also, if the max cash limit was higher, then we wouldnt have a problem with items being over it (probably).
  15. Runescape is actually lucky to have such rare items to trade. These items are the high-end items economies need. All economies need products ranging from the lowest (1gp) to the highest (in this case Blue p-hat at like 3.5bil). The fact is that these items keep money flowing through the economy once people become richer in the game or else people would just have hordes of cash. Also, considering the max cash limit Runescape has, players need items to invest in so they can continue money flow. If the money is not moving from player to player, then the economy comes to a grinding halt. The fact that rare items move a large percent of the economy could be a sign they are overpriced (partyhats may be but certainly not h'weens and santas), but the transactions they take part in are more help than hurt. Most people selling a rare are probably going to do something with the money and not just sit on it... that is what some rares are for, to sit on. So that means the money is probably going into the GE to buy materials for skilling or other items, which gives money back to other players and spreads the wealth. In short, rares are like private planes, yachts, and mansions. Someone has got to have them in the world or else they would have nothing to do with their money, and that would be a bigger detriment to the economy. BTW: I only own a Santa hat so Im not defending the rich based on my wealth.
  16. Yea, like the boost from skillcapes (lame). I would really hate that. From the video I cannot tell whether or not it is activated immediately when you equip it or if it is activated by "using" it once it is equipped. I hope its a permanent bonus like an amulet, but I doubt myself in predicting things for RS anymore.
  17. Agreed, I highly doubt they are going to make things more expensive as it goes along. That would make no sense. They will probably release more later that cost more, so save points IMO.
  18. EXPLICIT MATERIAL!!!!!!!!!! Just thought I'd let everyone know up front. My newest find. I love the flow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW7EW8FJKW4 My favorite artist of the moment. Cant beat Donald Glover spitting under his rap alias Childish Gambino: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otPxoVQiIGo
  19. I'm sure they do, but they haven't yet figured out a way to do it while still collecting membership fees from them. This, now /endthread. The new money loving Jagex won't remove bots if it means less money, end of story. It's clear they don't give two [cabbage]s about the quality of the game, as long as they are getting paid. Sad really. One could only hope that they want to make as much money at the moment in order to be able to invest in something that can actually stop the bots, but I dont think so.
  20. Never posted in this Off-Topic Forum but I people might enjoy this if they recently broke up with someone:
  21. Based on public opinion of the number of bots in RS as well as the data that shows how many bots are online (game update RS population graphs), I'd say it will take more than a "couple" servers. :)
  22. They didn't really give too much info about what you ask however: I'm fairly certain there was a topic about such questions. There is also a FAQ on the RSOF.
  23. Any current memberships do not count towards loyalty. You only begin receiving points once it is released, and then your membership begins counting towards loyalty.
  24. Three things: 1) Haha nice, thats hilarious (OP) 2) I did an appeal once that I was banned for advertising a website (which I did not do). I merely told them what to put in a search engine, but this was quite a disturbing website. Appeal was accepted the following day. 3) This reminded me how much I like the song "Wasn't Me" and now have it on repeat on my itunes.
