  1. These are existing words dude, look in the dictionary... But you are only using one of them correctly. Evaluate is to appraise the value of something, while devaluate is to decrease in value. The correct words should be "increase or decrease... in value" Also, a word in a dictionary does not necessarily make it a word.
  2. I disagree completely. Doing that in a free trade market GE is the same as buying from one player and selling to another in a trade. It should be allowed and I hope it will be. Im not a merchant by any means but I agree being able to do it on principle.
  3. With new updates to the wilderness in the past 3 years, one can only assume the immense amount of code they had to write. However, I would not doubt they saved code from older versions of the wilderness and of RS to be able to recall data, maps, etc. Even with that information, I believe it would take more than 15 days to implement such a large update. I think they are telling the players it was their viewpoint that changed the game, but Jagex finally found a way to deal with stolen credit cards, RWT, etc (maybe), so they decided they could bring it all back. I doubt they ever truly wanted to introduce regulated trade, but were forced to by external forces at the time.
  4. I hope they dont release it for awhile cause I have a longshot bet on an April release. A few friends and I have a small 10mil pool on when free trade is released. Winner gets a 1 mil from everyone.
  5. Firstly, destroying metal coins, atleast in most places, is illegal, secondly, it's not rare that the metal of coins is worth more than the coin itself, and thirdly, it's really not that difficult if done industrially. As for a simple method, try hydrochloric acid- the copper will not react. It's also funny to note that the Estonian crown will be eliminated from use and the metal of coins will be melted and separated into new alloys. The fact that defacing or destroying money is a given but is the basis of why we began an argument so it does not really matter that it is illegal. Also, the process may be easily achieved industrially, or even small time project possibly, to separate alloys within a coin. However, that does not mean that you can actually make money from the process. Consider the example of the US penny, comprised of 2.5% copper and 97.5% zinc. The cost of copper is about $4.30 per pound, and zinc is about $1.08 per pound. I highly doubt there is a process that can separate the two metals from pennies making it profitable to do so at the same time, industrial or not. However, relating it all back to the original discussion, the point is that people and players wish to get the most out of their money. In terms of degrading armour, getting the most out of your money means repairing the armour to get benefits that outweigh the cost of repair.
  6. How do people take money out irl? Melt pennies to make copper? I can't think of another way... Lrn2economics Just in case you did not know: United States' pennies haven't been made from copper for over half a century. The outer layer is a copper coating but about 98% of the coin is zinc. Can you name a country where coins of a single alloy are in use? If they have copper in them, you can melt them to make copper. As for degrading armor, it's funny how the idea surfaced when barrows was released and even more funnier to see how well it has worked in limiting the use of those items. It's great for those with a clear mind that the new armors degrade in that it limits the demand. I cannot name a country, but can you give me an efficient process for separating the copper and zinc as to a point where you are actually "saving or taking money" from it? It already costs 1.65 cents to make one penny. <----- that I had to look up. To zamorakninja, I understand your point, but I can still not like having to maintain the armour. I said I use it anyway though based on the benefits such armours give.
  7. Sorry guys. It was me. Not really, but this is a very puzzling discussion. It looks as if it began falling on Dec 30th. The wildy referendum was affecting the market well before that. The new boss had not been released. There was not a steep rise before in any of the months previous, so it is quite baffling to see it happen now. I agree with stonewall337 that the supply must have increased to a saturation point in the market, but the real question would be: who? Who has enough death runes to saturate the entire RS market and cause a steep fall in prices?
  8. How do people take money out irl? Melt pennies to make copper? I can't think of another way... Lrn2economics Just in case you did not know: United States' pennies haven't been made from copper for about thirty years. The outer layer is a copper coating but about 98% of the coin is zinc. As for degradation of items, I do not like them based on the fact that if I earn it, then I have it. I should not have to constantly maintain a digital item. Understandably a car needs maintenance, but not my armour in Runescape. Although I do not like them, I do use such armours as barrows and others that do degrade for the reason that benefits outweigh costs.
  9. Laugh if you like, but the bottom line is that all items released rise from the get go. The idea was to attempt to get it through buying on the GE when any of the items is dropped through a lootshare. Am I looking to get the most expensive? Probably not. We know the new items will be released this month so there is the your timeline. The overwhelming idea that it is foolhardy to attempt this then means first option: keep Santa hat. There were two options, picked one. Discussion over.
  10. Maybe I'm not explaining this well or my second post was not seen, but this is a short term venture Im looking for. I DO NOT WANT TO KEEP the torva armour. I want to get it asap once it is released, make some money on it and sell it. Should I do that or keep the santa. Those are the 2 options.
  11. Well I'm not planning to keep the new armour. I would watch it rise and then sell it at some point, which possibly allows me to get Santa hat back plus some cash I lost in the first place.... or more.
  12. Okay so Ive lost ton of money by buying a Santa hat about a month ago (yea I know about whats happened, Christmas crash, etc..... shut up.). What I would like some advice on is: should I sell it now and attempt to get some of the new armour/clothes/crossbow coming soon in order to make up for losses?
  13. I hope gold goes up, though I dont see the probability of it doing so. Its so low, its basically junk.
  14. This topic has already been discussed in the "What are you looking forward to about new RS Golden Age trade" thread. I brought up the idea and got shot down, its a good idea at first but as it has been explained, it probably wont change. Many people may think it will for a little bit I think causing some increase, but will probably go back down again. Potential for quick profit I assume.
  15. Never said that they would move green dragons for sure. I said it was plausible. I don't exactly remember when green dragons were introduced to the wild, but it is possible they could have another area to kill them once the old wilderness comes back if they were part of updates to the wilderness following the creation of the GE. I don't really believe they would once again, but there may be an alternative. If they don't, I expect a rise in dragon bone prices
  16. If some one told you that you could make money and pay for the production cost yourself, that would be a good option. If someone told you that you could make the same money + the production cost by having someone else pay for it, that would be a better option, in the eyes of a thief who is already breaking the rules.
  17. When do yall think we will get the first of these released?
  18. Couple good points. The green dragon thing is a reason I don't want the old wildy to come back. Praying on players who aren't geared to fight other players, who don't want to fight other players, shouldn't have to fight other players. Green dragons being in the wild doesn't mean they want to fight other players, it means they want to make some money without going into the CT. You dont think that this will be something Jagex moves from the wilderness to another location? With the popularity of green dragons, it is very plausible to think they may move them out of the wilderness following the update. Mainly I support the free trade, unfortunately free pking must go along with it so I can accept it. If I get killed in the wild while trying to do clue scroll or something, I will be pissed, but I will get over it.
  19. I think that if you have been playing since 2008, you should probably have a good feel for the game already and are experienced enough to know how not to get scammed etc. even with free trade. Others such as players joining within the past few months, might not be so lucky.
  20. Na, that should take another few months I bet. To the above: I dont think they would make the D-CB ammoless. Prolly the Godsword equivalent of a crossbow
  21. Very exciting stuff. I wont be able to participate in the new boss though.
  22. Woot! The first steps in a 99 triangle Im doing. Mining, Smithing, Magic (with 91 Crafting). Depends on where the price of nats go though.
  23. It won't hit 25m. It might stabilize at 70m for a little while, but prices like that will attract hoarders like crazy. It'll be back above 100m within a year unless something crazy happens like one of those big time hoarders dumping thousands of them. Well looks like you were right, its already going back up - at 73mil again. This is a relief, buyers remorse sucks  Dont feel too bad, I bought a Santa before the free trade/wildy announcement (around 100mil) and look at em now.
  24. I honestly did not know about this. Gave me a good laugh.
  25. Hi, you must be new here! Been using the site for over 8 years. Played RS on and off during the same time. Been a member of the forums for over a year if you could read the left side of any post. And maybe he was making a joke I dont get, but cutting wrists is never cool or funny.
