The reason people suggest plank make is because it is one of the faster cheap methods of mage xp. While the two methods that you suggested are still good magic xp, they are slower and more expensive, it is true that you do get a secondary benefit as you mentioned, but if you only want fast mage xp, than those methods are not ideal. They may be slower, but they are definitely not more expensive in the long run. Superheating to 99 from 90 (my level) costs less than 15m. It will get an additional 1.8m smithing exp. If you take that exp value and convert it into cost of gold smelting (best way to train only smelting), it is worth 70m. So essentially, you are making 55m by superheating. It is a bit slower, but is still relatively fast. Hell, 100k exp per hour is like 5x what i can get graahking nats. Bursting gets you charms. Nuff said on that :P you failed to understand opportunity cost. If you want charms, burst rocklobs. If you dont, ammy string, they arent bought out, theres just high demand and low supply, they'll buy after a few days.

I agree it wouldnt work. What if I feel like high risk pking? I buy an ags for 25% of there cost, I then go and pk for about an hour, then DC, die, and loose it. Sense I no longer have the item I no longer pay the interest payments. We would need some sort of "credit score" (like irl) to balance this.

I would like to point out that gp per cast DOES NOT MATTER. gp/xp is what matters. Personally I would burst rocklobs if you need charms or ammy strong if you don't.

skelleton monkeys are better gp/xp if thats what your asking. If you want to chin and not loose money do nechryl otherwise do skelletal monkeys.
