  1. But if they miss part of it, they are going to want to finish it. I don't think it ahs quite the effect when you just put that stuff into F2P
  2. I say lag simply because it's a convenient word. "Performance issues" is just an annoying term to use very often. Everybody understands what you mean with lag anyway.
  3. But lag is NOT a universal issue. Plenty of people are lag free, I'd hazard a guess that the lag free people make up the majority now. It IS an universal issue of many people, just not everyone. It has become much worse with recent updates though, the newest one being the tutorial update which cut my FPS in half(and that of many others). I guess it's certain hardware/driver/whatever incompatibilites that are causing this. I hope Jagex has a fix for this soon :/ As for how many people are lag free depends on how you define "lag free". Over 20 fps? If it is NOT effecting everyone it is NOT a universal issue. Universal issues effect EVERYBODY. Then my definition of the word was off, sorry - not a native speaker. The fact remains that a larger number of people is affected and that the fault is ong Jagex's side.
  4. Doesn't this just make you want to reach for your wallet so that you can continue your quest? Exactly. And while a lot of member stuff has prerequisites, there is awesome stuff that can be accessed early on. Look at One Piercing Note and honestly tell me that any F2P quest even comes close to it in terms of quality(actual quality, not nostalgia :P). Plus training in members is faster as well. With just, let's say two weeks of members you could show off a lot of stuff which would have players wanting more. This is far less the case for normal F2P.

  6. Oh god please stop the "Is F2P a demo or not" discussion. There's no fitting answer to it because it depends on your exact definition. Fact is, F2P has unlimited time but limited content. It seems like Jagex is pushing towards a limited time, unlimited content trial. Can't say I'm too happy with this, I still think the other way works better, but meh....
  7. The article says "nowhere near 50 MPG". She didn't go to court because she only got 49, but because it was a lot less. And to think that you are smart enough to figure this out but the judge isn't, is really far-fetched. I mean, *I* know that and I'm really not an expert with cars.
  8. Looks like they're at least temporarily shutting down to see if they could be in legal trouble by this ruling. Let's hope that they might be and that their sites will not be back up :)
  9. The thing is, I don't even understand why. If they made it free to play, it would be the perfect oppurtunity to showcase all the member skill to make people subscribe. That's the ultimate goal, isn't it  The graphical update is great as well - yes, as someone else mentioned everything is squished together, but that makes SENSE. It's after all a war camp(Ok, although until now you didn't have the impression that Taverley was affected by the trolls) And to someone else above - You don't have to do the tutorial if you don't want to. Edit: And tbh, I found feeding the pet chrismas crackers or *really* expensive stuff is a bit disgusting. Imho, if you have so much money that you can blow it on crap like that, why not give it to people who got scammed or hacked? Or maybe to new players? To friends? Whatever, but wasting it on it like this when many others are struggling to get enough money for a certain goal is just...
  10. armadyl helmet is just...no. Looks more like a strange elf from a fairytale than an intimidating aviansie or w/e. I have to say though, the tutorial is a GREAT improvement. I haven't fully played it through yet, didn't have much time, but it's way better than the old tutorials, imo even more than tutorial island.
  11. I think his point is not that we can't concentrate on both things at once, what he's saying is that this stuff costs money. And the reason why there are still problems is that there isn't enough money. Because of this, money that would be spent on improving the situation for criminals would be better spent on improving the situation for others, e.g. old people. He does have a point with this, but honestly I think the effect of it would be minimal. If the money of the state consisted only of one big pot of money where everything is paid out of, it might be true, but it's all distributed already. It's very unlikely that money not spent on criminals will be spent in order to improve life for other needy people, and that's why I disagree here.
  12. Well, from seeing which books you've read the last few weeks, I would guess that it's not exactly your kind of book. I'll give you a short summary nonetheless. First of all, it's a fantasy/maybe scifi kind of book, set sometime in the future, north america. There aren't too many fantasy elements really, just a few things that wouldn't work in the real world but besides that it's all realistic stuff. No dragons, fairies or whatever. You should also keep in mind that it's mainly a book for youths - doesn't mean adults can't read them, just to give you an idea of what to expect. Better than most other books for youths I've read though :P North America is now a big country now called Panem, divided into twelve districts and the capitol, which is an authoritarian regime over the districts. Each year, every district has to offer two tributes who will participate in the hunger games. The hunger games simply consist of a big arena with supplies, traps etc. where all 24 tributes are put in, and the last one to survive wins. When the protagonist's (katniss) little sister is chosen as a tribute, she volunteers to go in her stead. The rest of the first book basically plays in the arena, where she's torn between wanting to survive and not wanting to kill others, especially her co-tribute from district 12, who she knows and (maybe) has feelings for. Of course a lot more than that happens, but I think that's all I can easily tell you without too much spoiling.
  13. Well, considering that there will be some form of "harder Jad" coming out with the new Tzhaar quest, maybe this cape could be the reward for him? :P
  14. It's quite simply really(Ok maybe a few exceptions, but not many :P). Everyone is allowed to do what he wants as long as he doesn't violate the rights of others. If it does violate the rights of others, you have to judge which of the rights is more important. E.g. in case of murder the right to life of the victim is more important than the right to do what you want to do. In this case, as long as they are only *hating* others, they're completely free to do so. We're not in 1984, thoughtcrime doesn't exist :P. What they're not allowed to do is to encourage the violation of rights of the people they hate, e.g. suggesting to murder them or whatever. And no, it is not justifiable to attack those groups, unless it is in direct defence of victims.
  15. LOL you are not happy about this helm are you, well let me put you at ease a little. Skyrim was released November 11, 2011 The pictures of updated Guthans where show on the Sunday 31st of October at RuneFest. Plus Guthan Horns are *up*ward where the skyrim helmet has horns that point *down*wards. And seriously, a helmet with horns is not that big intervention.
  16. and theft is theft whichever way you look to legitimise it. Theft: a : the act of stealing; specifically : the felonious taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it b : an unlawful taking (as by embezzlement or burglary) of property So, what say you of what isn't theft? Property can't be digital? You're clutching at straws here. It's not the *removal* though, it's the *copying*. That does make a difference.
  17. They probably chose Burthorpe/Taverley because it's basically the start of the biggest landmass of member's areas. That's what I'm thinking at least.
  18. I also think the ease of paying and the type of payment makes a difference. If I can just go there, watch the film and pay with a mouseclick, it's as easy and convenient as illegal sites. If I have to register, pay monthly, search the terms&conditions for additional fees etc... But I may be overestimating this. It's entirely possible it wouldn't make a huge difference :/
  19. The JMod bot hunts weren't successful because they announced when they were going to happen. That's really not the case. There were far more busts going on than you know of. They are still terribly inefficient. The only thing they would be good for is to visibly have jmods banning which may make some botters afraid. But I don't think that worked that well. It's really just a waste of time.
  20. It's definitely NOT player owned ports. Just have a look at the BTS, it says right there that burthorpe will be teaching new members their skills. I thought it'd be pretty obvious. Btw if you want to see more pictures of the area, have a look at the media section on the runescape homepage.
  21. Probably a reference to the upcoming Transformers Universe game. That had to be the worst trailer/teaser video I've ever seen (The link). Makes me not want to play it at all, TBH. Looks like an extremely boring game... It completlely lacks any music that would make it epic, it just shows a transformation that people have already seen a gazillion times and there's next to no hint of how the game will be. I agree, it's a horrible trailer.
  22. Yeah it is. If they tackled the root problem of all this - their ridiculous DRM, pricing and restrictions they'd probably find a few more people turning away from piracy because they're being provided a reasonable alternative. Think of stuff like Netflix. It's relatively cheap and you get a lot out of it (not so much here in the UK yet, but it's a start). If accessing content was made easy and reasonably priced there would be less people pirating. Of course some people will, but people have always pirated and always will. DRM, pricing and restrictions are nothing new and have always been priced as to what people will pay for them. It's basic supply and demand. The correct way to tackle this is to simply not buy the product so it forces the price down. All you're doing is advocating theft. 'It costs too much' doesn't wash. Like anything else in life if it costs too much you don't buy it and wait until it comes down in price. You'd probably be horrified if I implied you advocated shoplifting - This is no different except it's digital. I kind of agree with you, but I think we have to distinguish between two things here. The first being why illegal downloading is *not* ok - and the second thing being how the music/games/movie industry should react. They're not doing themselves a favour with their DRM and stuff. Why were/are large streaming sites so popular? I bet for the majority it's not because it's free, though that of course is a part of it. Fact is, those streaming sites usually have a far better selection of movies because the large companies found no way to agree on licensing so that legal sites could get anywhere near the amount of movies of illegal sites. If there was a legal streaming site with all current movies and popular movies of the past years, with easy methods to pay, a lot of people would use that. It would need some marketing of course, but I'm sure it would work.
  23. I think Jagex said that the TzHaar quest or some aspect of it would require a Fire Cape at RuneFest. They talked about a bigger Jad which would require a fire cape as entrance fee - whether that is during or after the quest idk, but I would guess after it.
  24. Seems like Addy Dragons are coming out! Or maybe just a graphical rework...it's hard to tell with the whole greenish tint in the picture. The pictures are nice...some views of the new tutorial/troll warzone thingy(Now we finally can be sure about the old media picture with the windmill as well) and the TzHaar stuff looks great as well.
