That's a hard lesson to learn.
No one (including myself) is here arguing definitions. Since when does a dictionary come into play concerning morality? The only example that comes to mind is the white-washing of the term "genocide". Since when does morality come into play concerning a business transaction? That's really the root of objection in this thread - firefighting should not be a business transaction, it should be a public duty. And public duties should be supported by the public. These people don't pay the taxes or the fees that support the fire department. Right, but that's the fault of the local government. The people should not be given an option.

I am annoyed by either side if they are flaunting their sexuality. I don't mind average people, gay or not, but both the ubermanly-man and the floppy-wristed, lisping, feminine gay man bother me.- That's a hard lesson to learn.

Lol'd. He should feel dumb anyways for posting something like that on Facebook, where anyone can read it and judge him for it. OT: Boring. I slept from 5:30 to 5:30, got out of the shower too late to go out to dinner with the family, and spent the day/night on the computer. Pretty bad day, to be honest, but I got most of the sleep back that I lost over the past few weeks. I've got no homework this weekend, not even long-term stuff, and Monday off, so I plan to read, play piano, and maybe go see "The Town". I found the sheet music for a bunch of Scott Joplin stuff in my dad's collection, so I'll be sight-reading that to get my hands back in shape.- Last one to post wins

I completely agree, without it that vid would be completely forgettable. Except for the 12 year old kids, the lyrics, the hoodies, the bikes, and the hand motions.- Last one to post wins

But Marijuana is a gateway drug. Another thing that annoys me; When I can't go to sleep at night because I like posting on Tif =/ Alcohol and tobacco aren't gateway drugs? All three are gateway drugs, but weed is more of a gateway drug because it's illegal. People who just want to drink can do so, but people who just want to get high will end up interacting and hanging out with criminals.- Does the internet change the way you act?
There's also the fact that expressing thought through typing is much different than through speaking. Debating in real life is fun because you can add some emotion to it with your tone and body language, but on the internet you get all the time you want to spruce up your points with fancy talk. I actually prefer debates over the forums. It's much easier to pick up points, and everyone has the same voice. In real life, some voices are louder than others, and the quiet ones usually have their opinions ignored. :| Plus, you can think about what you want to type, add direct links to evidence, and don't have to worry about feeling nervous or forgetting something important.- Last one to post wins

You did post, I remember reading it. It was something about how dinosaurs get no love. I think you also said that I was one of your favourites. *shifty eyes* everyone said that So, what happened to my psot? I didn't think it was all that off-topic.... And yeah, Wongtong fits in the category of "makes me laugh" although often unintentionally. I respect her for finding me that one video that proved that there can be some really hot black chicks. I remember someone posting a rap video....Xhibit (Sp?), i think? I'm amazed that you remember that as well. [/hide] Yeah....I think the song was called "Concentrate" or something. I just remember the rapping was terrible. That... might have been me. ._. Ouch. Sad face? This is what I listen to when I troll.- Literature
Yeah, it's pretty much the same where I am. "Banned books" means it was banned somewhere far away by some Christian extremists who thought the cover art looked phallic. Of course, we have a pre-set curriculum for the teachers, so it's not like we'll suddenly be reading some scandalous novel.- Today...
Haha, did they say a reason? Get your trollface on. It's just general [developmentally delayed]ed stuff like 'THESE "TEACHERS" TEACH KIDS TO ACCEPT GAYS, BUT THEY DON'T KNOW THAT THEY WILL BURN IN HELL' and that we're all lustful sinning teenagers that hate God and stuff. They're coming to a lot of universities and a few other schools in the area. I'm accepting any and all ideas on how to troll them without getting beat up or something. Buy a Guy Fawkes mask in case the opportunity for random irl trolling shows up. Make satirical signs, or signs that point out parts of the Bible that would be against WBC. My personal favorite is "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth the little ones against the stones" -Psalm 137:9- The Mansion
I walk to the end of the hall and smash the lit lantern with my fist in an attempt to extinguish it.- Today...

[hide] What does? Oh oops, I meant to quote your post. The fact that people hate the sound of the quintessential (sp) gay man Well. I don't care if someone is gay or not. It's not a matter of sexuality... anyone with an annoying voice would annoy me, gay or not. It just happens to be that for some reason gay men seem to speak in an annoying way more than others  What. I said I hate that people hate"the sound gay guys make" like they make all one sound. What does? Oh oops, I meant to quote your post. The fact that people hate the sound of the quintessential (sp) gay man What? Why does a gay man have to sound gay? I hate the sound of a stereotype. wat. y try to confuse me lil bro :| [/hide] Never mind, I thought you were defending the stereotypical "gay voice". I meant that I disliked it because it appears to be a product of social norms, and it's annoying to listen to. Basically, I know gay guys who are completely normal (except that they're gay), so when I see or hear someone "acting gay" it just seems like they're conforming to the ideas of a homophobic society.- Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?

Keeping busy and putting effort into what you do, dealing with the [cabbage] life dumps on you well. Also money and sex. The question certainly has no correct answer, and this is one that applies to many people. What I see here is constant motion, conformity, materialism, and sensual pleasures. In short, the pack dog mentality - proving yourself successful in the eyes of society makes you happy. For me, I would say happiness is a state of mind, and is really just a denial of negativity for the time being. It comes from a feeling of success, which in turn is produced by striving for excellence in those areas a person values. So Iamdan would say wealth and women make him happy, while Aristotle wrote that happiness arises from the perfection of the intellect and the search for truth.- Philosophy, Riddles and complete mind[bleep]s
This thread needs a bump, my mind is feeling horny. What is happiness, and how does one acquire it?- That's a hard lesson to learn.
The first "American National Bank" was actually privately owned. We ain't called the Land of Opportunity for nothing, man.- Literature
I thought it was a good book. While rather long and plodding it is certainly better then the drivel most other similar (contemporary) philosophers have published. Lol. To cite Ayn Rand as better than most other contemporary philosophers is insane. ! This really depends on what you count as philosophy. I've got about twenty pages left of The Stranger and it's been brilliant. Some might say that's not necessarily philosophy, if it weren't for the fact that Camus is constantly associated with absurdism. I've got a question to any who feel qualified to answer: Which is the scariest Stephen King book? I've only read The Shining and It, and of the two I thought the former was scarier and probably a better book overall, but it's also the first I read, so I may have become desensitized.- What are you listening to right now!?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5CUHHGlQg0 Alright, a cool story, bro: There was a parody of this video on my Facebook (the one by Jon Lajoie) and I clicked it, and somehow opened another tab of facebook. There was a bit of silence or quiet music at the beginning, so somehow I thought I had closed the old tab, and started the vid again. So I was listening to the same song twice at the same time, like a round. It didn't line up (one was probably about 40 seconds ahead) but I thought it was musical genius because the lyrics were complaining about the other Beatles, so I thought it was supposed to be each Beatle interrupting each other and arguing and insulting each other's girlfriends ("John's gotta stop taking LSD - It makes him think she's a 7 when really she's a 3). Anyways, I realized what happened later, and now I've been trying to get the real version to sync up as a round by starting one vid a few seconds later. So far, 0:26 ahead seems to be working well. [spoiler=same vid, so I can have two in one tab] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5CUHHGlQg0 - Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
