Do I have to do any damage or hit a jogre and unicow for their deaths to count with the diaries? Can I stand there and let the rings do the work?

There's a bit more to it than just having the materials. You have to be playing TBW clean-up with some favor showing and spent some favor to get trading sticks (I don't know if buying the trading sticks from other people works), then you talk to him with the stuff to make the gem machete. The making a machete option should pop up then.

I get it every day since it takes me a few seconds to get there and mine a coal rock. Otherwise, just mine or cut maples before you change out the coffers.

How rare are effigy drops? Is it like trophy heads and champion scrolls kind of rare? Wondering because I've been slaying for a couple days (3-5 tasks a day or so). I have gotten other rare-type drops like rune javelins and mystic tops (too many gargoyle tasks lol).

Is there a specific boat I need to be on or do I just follow the crowd? My combat level is 138 and I'm only doing this for the quest. <_<

I dont know how many times i died to highwaymen when i first started, i was always too scared to go to port sarim 'cause two of them would always ambush me ;) If what someone told me is true, the dark wizards in Draynor are no longer aggressive. I found turning auto attack off helps. It keeps you from chasing after skeletons that lure you from the skinweaver. Range/mage work better than melee as you're not running around and can fight while the skinweaver heals.

Takes about 3 hours to grow kitten>cat. I go fish with a kitten out, that way I have food ready when it's hungry. I feed mine at 70% hunger and stroke it every so often so it doesn't run away.
