  1. You get this hats from trading? You need one of each present colour to get the Tree hat. Combining different colours gets you different rewards.
  2. I know it's luck and the law of averages blah blah blah, but I swear the story progress missions have some kind of hidden success modifier. Unlike high resource reward missions that I failed a lot with 50%+ success rate I have never failed a low success rate story progress mission. I even sent one off with like 40% and it still succeeded. Anyway, managed to complete the chimera voyage early this morning so I'm hoping hes going to show up on the reset tonight. Sitting on about 3k Bamboo too so just under halfway to having the amount needed to upgrade the crew lodgings/workshop/extra ship slot.
  3. I got a few 2400/2400's and 4000's, so it shouldn't be too rough if you're already competent at the Skull's voyages. Definitely make your focus on the Hook once you unlock it, and do so ASAP, or else you won't be making much progress otherwise. Gunpowder is immediately outclassed by slate. Not necessarily true at all. Now that we have the ability to unlock a third ship, gathering bamboo from the arc is a pretty worthwhile route to take after you have recruited some of the Hook crew members. Leaving it down to the odd one or two bamboo voyages you would get focusing on another region would take you a stupid amount of time, whereas focusing on Arc and getting the odd 100 slate mission is a good way to go. If you can complete all the missions within 24 hours anyway an extra ship is just as useless as speed upgrades. Not to mention that 4k slate could easily buy you a replacement for your entire crew or refit your whole ship in one go. Also I don't know about everyone else, but I'm having trouble even crewing 2 ships with good crews, last thing I need is a third ship to fill up. It's more a case of getting the Bamboo now so I don't have to concern myself with it down the road. There are still buildings that require bamboo and with the Tier 3 crew I have now I can already almost 100% Slate voyages. In addition to that, the amount of time it will take to unlock The Scythe is far greater than it was for Skull to Hook.

Just sent crew on the Chimera mission with a 69% success rate so hoping to get lucky because that thing is a beast. (lolpun) Also, the Golden katana clansman I just recruited has the lookout ability which increases ship speed by 1%. It also adds some weird modifier to all other crew with the speed stat being displayed as: Speed (+0% bonus)
  5. Same situation. My play time has been seriously diminished since I started my new job so ports couldn't have come at a better time.
  6. Yes, and there are also two quest lines that feature three of the adventurers each. One can only assume the trio voyages can only be done once the three adventurers in question have had their individual and duo quest lines completed.
  7. Not sure if this a tongue in cheek remark or not. Everything you do in the game should be fun. That is why it's a game. Runescape has become more of a job for most... Agreed. I still play the game after 10 years because I find it entertaining. There is no other reason to play and spending an inordinate amount of time repeating a task like gathering funds for armour that isn't even end game content is not fun for me therefore I won't do it. Perhaps at some point spending that time grinding may actually become fun, though. I remember 94-99 hunter was very much entertaining for me, probably also because I was honing in on the cape at last, and I definitely enjoyed every minute of Nexing for gear, even though my career there got off to a very rough start. To each their own :) It is entirely subjective and I wouldn't call anyone a liar if they said they had fun grinding out the hours to buy Nex armour as players find different things entertaining. For me I don't think the the effort involved in getting Nex armour is reflected in its use. As I said before, Nex should never have been made as difficult as she is for level 80 armour as Jagex just boxed themselves into a corner for when they do eventually release level 90+ armour.

  9. Considering the port score needed to unlock the Scythe we are most probably going to stuck at the Hook for quite a while anyway. I plan to get enough slate for some of the new crew members then head back to the Arc and get the bamboo for the workshop. Not only will all the voyages be 100% just with deck upgrades but I can use them to level the new crew members without the penalty of death. Also, why does the share button have an Eevee next to it... Edit: looks like me and Sumpta had the same idea.
  10. The fact that you think 200 hours isn't a long time is worrying. It seems that this whole discussion is pretty subjective. I see 200 hours as a more than adequate amount of time to acquire the second best armour in the game.
  11. Regardless of how wealthy the people are that use this forum, the average player doesn't have a few hundred mil to spend on a set of armour. Nex armour should never have been worth the amount it was in the first place in my opinion. Not only did Jagex make Nex too difficult in relation to the armour tier she drops but level 80 gear isn't even close to being high level, not really. If level 95+ armour is worth 1b a set then I'll understand entirely the price point because it is actually end game content. On the topic of PvP armours, I really don't see the big deal. I think if players hadn't of complained about it becoming discontinued armour Jagex would have removed it along with the free trade limitations. As it stands now I just see it as a hangover from the restricted trade period of the game that only exists because of legacy issues.
  12. Did anyone else only get one special voyage with today's reset? Pretty retarded considering I'm 90 in all of the skills except rc.
  13. Yeah! [bleep] progress, let's do the following: - Remove RuneSpan - Never release any Armour or weapons that are attainable by anyone other than the 1% of super rich players. - Make the game harder and more grindy with each new update - Remove all 'Make-X' options - Remove all D&D's - Have penalty exp weekends where you only get half the normal experience - Randomly give a select few players a new Rare item worth billions Ad infinitum Seriously, Jagex will never win. Players hate the grind and some resort to bottling to achieve the levels they feel they need to have fun. Then there are players who complain that everything is now too easy and achievable. To be honest all I see in your post is frustration that there is no longer anything left you can buy to show off.
  14. Everyone needs to read the FAQ on the forums. Completing an entire storyline for one NPC gives 'a big' reward at the end of it. Also, as many others have stated; each special NPC can only be taken on ONE voyage a day regardless of what type it is.
  15. I'd say Hull upgrades are pretty much exempt from this though as they give you boosts to everything even if one stat gets more than the other. I just bought the Golden Hull upgrade for this reason. Probably going to go for upgrading the warehouse next unless I find I need some deck upgrades which I probably will.
  16. Waaaaaaay back in like 2006-2007 they used to do an announcement whenever the record for online players was broken. I can't remember it may not have been as many as 600k, but it was huge, cant be bothered to go through archieves atm I remember those posts. Whilst I don't remember the figure I'm pretty certain it wasn't much more than 300k.
  17. The thing is, not every MMO is World of Warcraft. In fact WoW is probably the exception to the rule when it comes to how large it's player base is. All MMO's gradually lose popularity over time. The player base for Runescape may be smaller than it used to be but the amount of players that are present now is still more than enough for the game to keep going strong. If you think the game is dying, you're welcome to your opinion but what are people achieving by constantly spamming it on forums? If you think the game is going down the shitter, I don't care. If you still enjoy the game then shut up and play it, if not then just leave.
  18. There has never been 600k simultaneous players online. Seriously, where do these figures come from?
  19. saw somone on reddit had all the melee scrolls (think it was melee anyway), they just need to get the items now If this is true i'd love to know how they could have possibly gotten ALL of the melee ones. Each piece requires 4 scrolls so that's 12 scrolls for one set. I'm pretty sure that's actually impossible given the daily limit on voyages.
  20. It's amusing how none of the armours have even been put on the grand exchange yet. Considering you only get a set amount of voyages every day there's going to be a minimum amount of days/months before any of the new items make it into the game. Interested to see what Jagex put the starting price as once they decide to put them in.
  21. No. Judging by the length of each voyage it's going to be a while before anyone gets one piece of a set let alone a full set.
  22. I think, but I'm not sure, that once you complete the story line for one of the special mission NPC's you can get the recipe's for the new armours/scrimshaws etc.
  23. This actually made my day.
  24. My original name, Slayerx9999, was just something I made up on the spot and probably thought, at the time that it was a cool name. I was only 13 though so no surprises there. My current name, which is also my name here is from an obscure Japanese game that was released about 20 years ago.
  25. Mod Mark did actually say in one of the live streams that Owen would be featured in his own double bill starting with a rework of Black Knights fortress. So expect that and another new P2P quest for the second part.
