So, what is your current project(s)
o wat even is Visual Basic. No seriously, it's a horrendous language... I've recently decided to build a quick and lightweight .NET website to learn how MVC works. For some stupid reason, I somehow ended up writing the logic in VB, which I have never encountered previously (I'm a C# nerd). The language is just brutal to learn, 95% of the time I actually spend coding this project is spent correcting syntax. Additionally, I have not yet started to see the distinct advantage that MVC has over classic web forms. Though the concept is quite brilliant, so far it has been quite a bit of extra work just hopping between my various project files as well as constantly reminding myself to tie my views, models, and controllers together properly.

Uses for the Pack Yak
PK with yaks. It's epic for quickly banking loot, as well as protecting your stuff if you're in high level or are teleblocked and getting wrecked.

Killing Vanstrom?
Dragonhide is ideal, though personally I found the darkmeyer clothes to not be that terrible. Use piety, pray mage, tug along a tort with 3:1 brews, bring superset and fill your invo with brews and restores. I've heard many suggest that you run corner to corner during his blood attacks, but sometimes this stage can really drag out... I recommend attempting to kite him. There's a bit of leeway in terms of how long you can stand still before the blots damage you, so you can actually just run up to Vanstrom, smack him a hit, and then back away. Keep your HP above 600 always (I've seen the blood attack hit in the 560s), honestly the fight is just a ton of running around. Make sure to make the most out of any moments that the guy spends on the ground, because it's a good opportunity for you to heal up and repot without having to worry about dashing everywhere.

Only farming this bxp week
Yeah, I meant plan for 9 hours or so. There's a common misconception (at least amongst players I've spoken to) that paying a farmer means your trees/crops never get diseased, but this actually isn't true. Paying a farmer just means that upon becoming diseased, your plants will be cured immediately. However, this still pushes you back a cycle. I don't know how much work you've done on Livid Farm, but due to this game mechanic I highly recommend that you obtain the Remote Farming spell (requires 314,480 produce points) if you don't already have it. This will save you having to embark on a full run to check whether your trees are done or not while at the same time making sure you don't spend excessive amounts of time logged out (160 minutes per cycle is brutal).

Any idea what's wrong with my Hunter?
The layout shown above isn't that efficient. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaF1nRM69_g Check that video out for tips on how to maximize your hunting, though I must say I can personally relate to your complaints. I've done all of my hunting just about perfectly (draconics with full witchdoctor camo, zammy favours, weekly bonus, arctic bear, hunter potion with berserker, X formation, +1 trick, clicking to the right of a plant, moving away early on a trap set to transition faster, 99 hunter, using the spot beside the vine) and I still cap at approximately 260k/hr. The only thing I don't use is scentless. Meanwhile, I've heard of people getting just under 300k/hr with 95 hunter and not even using hunter pots in the exact same place. I'm guessing this has something to do with the worlds you choose, but I always go to 1800+ pop and honestly even if it was a respawn issue... a 15% deviation is pretty dramatic.

Unfermented wine
If you're banking a ton of cooking xp for bxp, you should probably use mousekeys... or maybe I'm the only person in this game that starts derping with my clicking accuracy after doing the same action for over 5 hours straight.

Court Cases + Champion Scrolls
aren't al kharid guards flooded with bots?

CLS or CR?
If you just got ~80 dg, I'd personally repair using only money first. However, this does somewhat depend on your ability to make money, so you have to weigh your income/hr against your xp/hr (and hence tokens/hr) in dg. Maybe you make money slower than the average player or do faster floors, thus it depends on your personal situation.

Court Cases + Champion Scrolls
What's the best method of going about getting court cases? 99 thieve + ardy 4 + gloves of silence on Ardy knights, or guards? As for champion scrolls... is there anything in particular I can do to increase my chances at this, or is simply mass killing the monsters that drop these my only option?

Ivandis Flail vs Blisterwood Weapons
I think most people are just annoyed about this inconsistency because honestly, we lost an epic looking weapon for something that looks no different from a spear =/

Ventrilo on Linux
WINE is using ALSA, and it is version 1.2.2. I've seen the appdb entry, but I'll give Mangler a try. Thanks! EDIT: Just tried out Mangler, it seems to work quite nicely. Now I just need to wait for a clanmate to pop online so I can test the lag. Thanks again Nyo :)

Ventrilo on Linux
Thanks, yeah I've tried Mumble before and it's not bad. Unfortunately, I'm only trying to get Vent working for the sake of being able to communicate with my clan :/ Since they've already got a server set up and everybody else has it running fine, it wouldn't make sense for them to switch over just because of me.

Ventrilo on Linux
I've been trying to get Ventrilo working seamlessly with my Ubuntu build. Unfortunately, since the program is currently still under development for Linux systems, I've been forced to run it through Wine. Vent runs fine, but problems arise in regards to transmission delay. I have configured Wine to use the ALSA drivers from my computer within the Windows emulation, and I hear all sound normally when I run other software on the emulator. However, vent defaults output and input drivers to DirectSound (which is a interface for Windows...) so I have to untick the "Use DirectSound" boxes to be able to hear what anybody is saying or to actually talk to anybody. I then change the drop down selections to "default" since Wine already has the audio all worked out for me and then I can hear and talk fine. The issue is that Ventrilo has been known to be somewhat clunky without DS and it was clear from a few shots at dungeoneering with my setup that I was receiving a delay of at least 3 seconds. Additionally, I seem to be the only person who experiences choppy transmission and cutting out of people's voices. Does anybody have any potential solutions/fixes for correcting this lag? I'm willing to look into methods outside of just playing with Vent by the way (for instance, is there a possibility of installing something to emulate DirectSound?).

Mourning's End Part 2
I was 99 potted to 101 and I failed at least twice that quest (iirc you have to go into that room several times). That quest is honestly just brutal all around; seriously, what's up with those level 73 shadows constantly hitting in the 100s?

Fight Caves task
15 brews is so overkill, bring fletching stuff tbh and get some xp in between kites

Fight Caves task
Melee is definitely the way to go. As for what to actually to do in the cave, you want to kite the 360s. When you see their mage attack leave their tail, click attack and then immediately click one square behind you to step back. This prevents them from hitting you with melee (since you lack soul split, you won't be given as much room for error though EEE should still be more than plenty for healing purposes if you make some mistakes). Oh, and don't be a spastic and run halfway across the room like I've seen in some video guides, that just wastes prayer and attack turns. Always try to trap 180s if you can, they can still dish out some melee damage if you take too long with the Ket-Zek. 90s shouldn't be much of a problem, they only have 400 hp anyways. As for Jad, default pray to magic when the wave begins. Note this is unlike the ranging method, where it is recommended to pray range. This is due to melee armour having high range defence but low mage defence. During the fight, always pray melee. Switch prayer as appropriate (listen for magic, look for range... you can also look for magic actually, but make sure you switch before the fireball leaves Jad's neck or you'll take the hit), then when the splat shows up on your character immediately go back to praying melee. You have plenty of time to block his far distance attacks, but his melee is too fast and it hits hard enough to not be worth taking a risk. Don't bother with distracting the healers, Jad has low defence anyways so you should finish him off quickly. Good luck!

Manga/Anime Discussion
I have a very low fanservice tolerance. Hence one of the reasons I'm enjoying Full Metal Alchemist so much. But... That was a horror show, yeah? Like, straight gore and grossout. With a tiny bit of cuteness and meme-material. At least, that's what I understand from TvTropes. So why in hell has it made that sort of transition. Higurashi is a horror mystery type show, there are cutey parts in the series so that you do get a feel for the characters and that's what makes the horror horrific, but since the horror has been solved for some stupid reason DEEN decided what we needed wasn't the fun of the last OVA Rei, but FANSERVICE EVERYWHERE. I'm just very disappointed, but I can't say I was expecting much from it. Higurashi has unfortunately been reduced to a cash cow :( Higurashi went straight downhill after Season 1 =/ As for currently watching, I just picked up Ano Hana (あの日見た花の名前を僕達はまだ知らない) and so far I'm enjoying it. It falls under the tragedy genre, which I don't usually watch. However, the story seems very well written with the potential for solid character development. Can't wait to finish watching the whole thing!
