  1. Very big congratulations and thanks to Stev for all the hard work that he has put in! And huzzah for swiftkit! Very excited to see this change.
  2. Yes that is true, but I think it's unlikely that someone would apply for a concealed carry permit unless they are skilled enough to handle their weapon and are willing to use it. Granted, we are talking a life and death situation here with terrible conditions from the smoke/gas and dark room, so maybe my point is moot. Hmm, the smoke grenade adds a layer of complexity to this situation. Might someone who is coughing (heavily) accidentally shoot an innocent? Yes, that is fairly likely, but still, I think this can be likened to the Good Samaritan law. Goodness knows that everyone is in peril, so can you fault a (hopefully) experienced gunman for accidentally shooting a civilian? They are clearly trying to help out. Yes, I realize that law generally applies to medical personnel, but there is a correlation to be had.
  3. 48 hours is too long. It's a 20 minute drive and I can walk out of the store in under 30 minutes with one. (Assuming I'm 21) I had my dad buy my revolver for me, and it took 10 minutes to do the paperwork, 15 minutes for it to get approved, and a few more minutes to make the purchase, have stuff explained to us, etc. Had a really heated discussion with the department head - who is also my boss - about gun control. He's of the opinion that guns in the hands of civilians would have equaled more deaths in the Colorado incident because people would just be wildly shooting and that they would assume that each other is the actual gunman. -.-
  4. Grimy's calc You're looking for the daily profits spreadsheet, which is located at the bottom. Has plenty of other very useful calculators as well.
  5. Endless pages of memes > cracked. Though I will admit that Cracked has some pretty hysterical articles here and there. Mostly it's not the subject matter, but the skill of the writer that makes them a good read. Find me a skilled writer that knows how to wield sarcasm and has mastered the subtleties of trolling and I can read that forever. If it's obvious, NTY.
  6. You'd probably be better served by downgrading your CPU and putting the ~$150 towards an SSD. Your money would be much better spent that way, IMO.
  7. Just filter your list by difficulty and start there.
  8. I'd think they'd just start shooting at the guys with guns. Maybe grab a person as a human shield. Eh, probably so, but you shouldn't be carrying a gun unless you are willing for something like that to happen. Besides, the gunman would have a tough time picking out a civilian with a gun if the guy is halfway smart about it. If you are too scared to take some shots at the gunman, then by all means go lie down on the floor and unload into the ceiling.
  9. On the topic of an armed civilian accidentally hitting a bystander, all you need is a few people with guns to fire some shots into the ceiling. If anything, it would make the gunman think twice, unless of course he was drugged up and oblivious to his surroundings.
  10. Can't really help much, but Java is currently on Version 7, Update 5. Personally, I would look into upgrading your RAM. It's really cheap nowadays. Here is a good starting point.
  11. No, SSD is still fairly expensive. Best I've seen is a 128GB for $100ish. Unless you really want top of the line, you shouldn't need much bigger than 128GB. You might even be able to make do with a 64GB. In a nutshell, yes it is faster hard drive. Take a look at the table here. You wouldn't normally have just an SSD because you would be paying a fortune for 1TB of storage, so you would install your OS and your most commonly used apps on the SSD for the blazing speeds that it offers. Dump everything else on your normal HDD. You could get an internal SSD, but not all laptops obviously have the space. Would be a pain to have an external drive to lug around. A few laptops that have been linked on this topic had multiple HDDs, so you would just rip one out and put an SSD there.
  12. This isn't the prettiest way to do it and it takes a few minutes but hit Win+R then type in 'javaws -viewer' That will pull up the control panel. You can ignore the other window that it pulls up. Go to the 'Java' tab and follow the rest of the guide from there.
  13. Okay, unless Jagex just hates that particular configuration, that is definitely plenty to run RS. I'd first try allocating more memory to Java then. This seems like a pretty good guide. -Xincgc turns off garbage collecting (I think) -Xmxn (where n is your number) sets the maximum amount of memory that can be used. Needs to be a multiple of 1024, so I would try n=1024M first. If that doesn't work, double it to 2048M It's case sensitive so type in -Xincgc -Xmx1024M exactly like that.
  14. Well you can either take a screenshot, or tell us your OS, processor, memory, DirectX version, video card information. On my lunch break, so I'm searching for those threads. Try this. It has some good all around tips in there. Sadly that RSOF thread no longer exists, but I think it deals with allocating more memory to Java, which is pretty straightforward. I put a screenshot in there.
  15. I'm assuming you are running Windows, so hold the windows key + r and type in 'dxdiag' A dialogue box about digitally signing may popup, you can hit no. For the video card, you'll need to switch tabs at the top to 'display' The easiest would be to take a few screenshots. Looks something like this:
  16. Now that that is out of the way.... I assume you aren't running safe mode. What kind of specs do you have? Have you increased the Java memory allocation? Tried deleting all the temp files from Jagex? When I get on my lunch break, I'll find some of the good H&A topics from a few months ago and link you to them.
  17. Howdy, welcome to Tip.It! As for your videos, as long as the swearing is limited and there isn't anything else offensive, we can allow it if you stick it in hide tags with a language spoiler. If you think a video is borderline, please don't post it haha. It's more work for both of us if you do that, so just pm a mod/admin and we'll take a look it at. You can also pm any of us for a clarification of the rules. If something is vaguely worded, do give us a shout out. Edit: Wow, I need sleep.. I read your post as "most of my videos are not safe for minors." Still, the above applies.
  18. Well at least we seem to be fun. *eyes twinkle mischievously* I'll add you on Tip.It since I'm pretty much retired for the summer. If you ever have a forum related issue, I'd be glad to help. :)
  19. People leech because they can afford to and they are too lazy how to dungeoneer properly. I haven't logged in a few weeks, but I really enjoy skilling and questing. I'm a few months away from maxing, like yourself.
  20. Ended up getting L4D2 as well so that way we can have staff games. Just need to upgrade from 4->8GB of RAM, and look out guys. I'll be better than I was tonight! :D Spent $60, and I'll probably get Fallout 3 and Civ 5 after I get tired of my 13 games haha.
  21. Well you have an internet connection if you are posting. :P What are the details? Also, are you using an up-to-date version of Java?
