Yeah why complicate things? It's a gathering skill. You click crud you get crud. Job Done. Mining, Fishing, Woodcutting are just the same.

Zamorak is definitely after power, it's explicitly part of his philosophy to go for greater personal power. Zaros had a great deal of power ruling his empire pre-God Wars, and as god of Control he will likely want to have control, which is a form of power. I don't see him settling for less power, only for less visible power. Anyone after the Stone of Jas is also after power, although it's possible that some gods only want it to prevent it from being used. Bandos/Sliske seem to like playing games, from the way Bandos sets up tribes against one another, and the way Sliske collects wights. Seren and Armadyl are not after power, I think, but they might need to become more powerful to attain their goals, like Guthix had to gain great power to shield Gielinor from the other gods (they wouldn't have listened to Tumeken, right?). The Godless probably will require some power source in order to banish the gods, unless they can convince the gods to leave, but I doubt that's going to happen. Zamorak is about personal growth through chaos, this is not quite the same thing as being after just out and out power. Zaros current philosophy is about staying out of the picture and just being a guiding hand from the shadows, doesn't really sound like a big power play is coming. True about the Stone of Jas but at this point has ANYONE actually expressed any interest in it? Not really. But anyway these are all more about the philosophies and what gods may or may not do, that don't really hold any sway over the fact we have not had one to one face time with them and as such only have what their followers and enemies tell us to go off and not them the actual person. I mean Sara's followers paint a very different picture to what he himself comes across as do they not? So whose to say the picture we have of any other god is at all accurate at this point?

We don't really have enough about anyone other than Saradomin to make sweeping generalisations about what they are or are not like imo. I mean the only first hand experience we have is of Saradomin.

No because if they perfected the final tools say 2 or 3 worlds ago but hadn't managed to make a perfect world yet they'd take the tools with them but have no more need of the Crown to find old experiments. I mean we know for certain the Kiln was on at least 1 other world because the Tokharr stuff describes their master coming and picking them up to be put on Gielinor.

Grimy's spreadsheets
Is it just me or do the MtK profit percents seem way off? Prior to breaking herbs and coal were close top 2 with fish behind a bit. Rswiki calc which whilst a bit delayed if prices aren't updated has always shown the same results and has mining top, herbs second with fish a close 3rd...but according to this remade sheet fish are 50% ahead of mining, which seems a bit of a large jump, and herbs give the worst profit margin shown, which seems like a bit of a large drop. Since jagex fixed data scrapping my reskin of Grimy's original is showing vs what the new sheet shows. Herbs 329% - 4% Coal 262% - 262% Raw Fish 243% - 111% Maples 216% - 132% Mahogany Logs 190% - 185% Cooked Fish 173% - 337% Teak & Mahogany Logs 135% - 132% Flax 83% Teak Logs 71% - 63% Just seems like something has gone rather wrong in some of those numbers on the new sheet given the discrepancies, of course if they are adjusted to show just profit opposed to whole return (as the title of the column suggests) some of the smaller gaps make sense but others seem far to large a gap.

I think the Crown shows a changing attitude - early on there made lots of tools some worked well, others less so. They recreated tools trying to make them better and discarded others during this time before they had them perfected it'd make sense along the way they might suddenly want one back and need to find it. But then as their final tools were developed (presumably the kiln, horn, staff and stone seeing as they were originating on Gielinor) they no longer had need to find older experiments and so discarded the crown.

But various Jmods have said we'll have a quest about Hazeel at some point and that he is certainly alive regardless of your help.

Interesting on Quin's Horn so we currently have: The Crown Archival - Finds the other artefacts The Stone of Jas - Precise use not really known, but its the most powerful and lets users do extreme stuff The Elder Kiln/Tokharr - Build the land As the only ones we know the real names of, but we also know of Skargaroth's/Guthix's Sword - Not clear, but it certainly seems to be able to cut portals between worlds Staff of Armadyl (which had a gemstone added to it) - Unclear, but implied to have something to do with the spark of life Quin's Horn - Controls animals seemingly.

The original problem was it was random allowing fcs to camp across worlds and use qh to abuse massive xp from it. It needs to be synchronised in a way that cannot be lagged or broken so that all worlds do the node at the same time to avoid the issue.

Jagex talk a big game but the pay off is usual lacking. Our 'lore rich skill' - barely any lore. Our '2 new skills in 2013' - one is in 2014 Our 'rs3 will have this awesome html5 engine' - html5 left in beta and not expected to be done b4 2014. There is a fundamental issue with choice in story in a game like Runescape: It creates too much work further down the line if it's anything but superficial differences. I mean it's not even that long ago Temple of Ikov and Hazeel Cult choices basically got retconned out. It's all very well saying a quest will split the story in two - but the reality is the two won;t be that far apart it's too much work to basically write and code two quests for every stage after the split to account for it. Heck even look at our latest choice based quest where regardless of choices he ends up with a corrupted up because they needed that to be so for the future.

The whole enriched spawn thing is a great example of Jagex failing: Not learning the lesson. The issue with warbands was it being spread out and the need for it be closely synchronised so what do you do for the big xp boon in new skill? Disregard that lesson entirely and have to hotfix it on day 2, but of course the hotfix isn't nearly as fool proof as it ought to be as it's not been tightly coded to enforce sync and thus we get warbands 2.0 where they were 'synced' but laggable to space things out. I think the only greater example is D&Ds without timers! Nearly every darn D&D they release timerless and nearly every D&D they then have to patch it in because predictably we want it; apparently it's impossible to learn - thing happening sporadically players like a timer for we should make it a priority to add.

True, but some how I think Zaros will get back regardless of our actions. I think our actions would just expedite matters or hinder them as the case may be.

True, but again it'd be out of character. He's been shown to be rather arrogant I am right do what I say mentality and only with hindsight regret his actions. It would be very out of character for him in my book to try and reasons with us if we say no to him; he'd get offended at the insult and take action - kinda like how he started smushing Naragi after they didn't wanna worship him. Nothing about him thus far really says diplomat or great reasoner it all says I tell you to do if you don't do ima kick your butt.

I don't think it is right to say Zaros will not be in world events and the godless will not be in quests. Only that they are not currently included in any plans. Once Zaros is back it is entirely possible for him to be part of a world event and it is entirely possible down the line for a godless quest to be proposed.

But is that not the entire point of his personality thus far? His philosophies centre on the fact for peace we need to obey 1 ultimate leader and that leader should be him and anyone who is outside of that or goes against it is a problem and needs to be dealt with. It'd be decidedly out of character if he was anything but an ass to us when we go against him.

I dunno I feel a bit skeptical about these new 'mods' judging by this video they are being given pre-made content to narrate to a script and just throw their well known name in there for a bit of gravitas. I mean what do these guys really add to the social media front that we didn't have already? About the only genuine use I see for them is to do more twitch streams and even then it's a bit eh cause other than brand new content that not everyone can do/see easily (eg high quests and bosses) livestreams of rs just aren't that interesting. The main reason I view back any live stream is when the mods reveal stuff about upcoming content or lore and I feel many are in the same boat.

There's 3 shirts after TWW Zilyana's gift, Juana's gift and Azzandra's gift; you can swap between them freely at the High Druid in the shrine. So it's not remotely choice locked, choices in TWW just define which one you get given by default (kinda like the Elite void colours or wizard colour titles)

Yeah if you have the aura you should be able to get the book from him after you've completed it as normal; however you cannot get in to the shop to reclaim it if you don't have it.

Frustrated.. feeling lost!
In all honesty the 'its not user friendly' and 'it does not suit rs' attitude is BS imo. It stems purely and simply from nostalgia and lack of understanding. If you forget everything you know about the interface and combat and look at it as a blank slate it is pretty intuitive and decent; combat isn't perfect and does lack a decent tutorial, but its not hard to pick up with a few little nudges on the precise details as and when you find issue with them. But yeah overall the main thing is NOT to look at combat at all like you did pre-eoc and do NOT look at the interface like rs2. Both of these will just hinder your learning you need to just get stuck in and play around with them as if you are an entirely new player; then come back to fansites and forums with any more precise details you cannot work out.

With people talking of batch 2: Remember this is just the gathering skill with a few extras to allow them to release the artisan skill to match it later. Any sort of 'batch 2' is likely just going to te 'proper' produce of the skill as seen in the next skill. After all this is just the mining, woodcutting or fishing part of the pair; the cooking, fletching or smithing part is skill 2.

Is it me or does this skill feel quite graphically lazy? All the wisps, springs and craters look the same. Couldn't the wisps/springs of been in keeping with the energy they give? Even just a recolour to match their energy would be nice. Could the craters not of varied a little bit from place to place?
